CSU Schools Remaining Closed in Fall 2020: How Collegeboxes is Helping
California State University (CSU) schools have announced they will continue holding most classes online and campuses will remain closed to students for the 2020 Fall Semester due to COVID-19 concerns. This will extend Coronavirus school closures and a transition to CSU online that began in March for all campuses. In a recent interview, the CSU chancellor cited “health and well-being” as the most important factor for making this decision, and that the 23 CSU campuses will only reopen when it’s safe to do so.
Unfortunately for students who lived on campus, the belongings left behind when the Coronavirus pandemic began several months ago will remain in dorm rooms and university housing indefinitely, leaving a lot of uncertainty regarding when and how students can recover their things.
Challenges for CSU students and staff
For out-of-state students wanting to retrieve their belongings from college dorm rooms before CSU campuses reopen, they face a number of challenges, including travel, costs, time and safety. Even local students may be unwilling to return to campus due to Coronavirus concerns.
For schools, they need to ensure campuses are sanitized before the new school year, meaning student dorms will need to be emptied in the coming months. Students, as well as parents and university officials, are seeking solutions to these and other challenges.
How can Collegeboxes help CSU students?
To provide a solution, Collegeboxes is expanding its services to include packing, in addition to existing storage and shipping services. After students sign up on collegeboxes.com, the Collegeboxes team works closely with the Student Affairs (or Student Housing) department to arrange residential access to college dormitories and packing of students’ belongings. This may require signing a proxy to grant third party access.
After the items are packed according to the student’s personalized instructions, student movers will ship the boxes to the student anywhere worldwide via FedEx®, or store them at a nearby U-Haul storage facility until the student returns to school. It’s the easiest way for students to move out of their dorm room without compromising their health, finances or time.
Benefits of working with Collegeboxes
Collegeboxes already works with more than 200 schools across the country to arrange dates and times for access and manage special instructions and various school protocols. It also provides students and parents with peace of mind knowing their belongings will be handled properly so they can focus on more important matters during these uncertain times.
Additional benefits of working with Collegeboxes:
