Do’s and Don’ts of Packing and Shipping Items for College
When you're packing for college, it can be easy to overlook the importance of packing your items the correct way. Many students are quick to get carried away and start dumping items into boxes without keeping track of what’s being shipped or worse, how items are being shipped. It pays to take your time, make sure you have the right dorm room packing supplies and do things the right way.
To help you stay organized, we’ve created some Do's & Don'ts to make college shipping easier and more efficient.
Do’s and Don’ts of Shipping Items
Do’s:
- Do pack all your items in a box or in luggage, music cases or trunks.
- Do pack any loose, small items tightly between larger items to avoid shifting while in transit.
- Do secure any glassware with Cushion Foam, Packing Paper, cardboard inserts, etc.
- Do tape the top and bottom of your box so it’s completely shut.
- Do attach the label so it’s securely taped to the side of the box.
Don'ts:
- Don’t tape boxes closed if each of the flaps cannot be folded down and closed together.
- Don’t attach labels to fabric using tape.
- Don’t pack fragile or breakable loosely in your boxes.
- Don’t leave any items without proper labeling.
