How to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica (VIDEO)
Welcome to the installation video of the Curt 13529 class 3 trailer hitch on a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica.
To give you a better view of the installation, we are using a lift. Like most installations, this vehicle does not need to be elevated for the install. We estimate this installation to take 30 minutes to one hour depending on your level of expertise. First, let’s go over the tools necessary for the install. You’ll need the following:
- Ratchet
- Three inch extension
- 18 & a 19 millimeter socket
- 3/4 inch socket
- Torque wrench
- Pry bar
Start by removing the spare tire to provide adequate room during the installation. Lower the exhaust by removing the four rubber Isolators on each side of the vehicle. Don’t forget to support the exhaust with the wire hanger or auxiliary strap. You may want to use a spray lubricant or soapy water mixture to ease the removal process.
Next, remove the m12 bolts from the foremost attachment points between the bumper beam and the frame rails. You may want to use a penetrating lubricant, such as PB Blaster, if the bolts are too corroded. These bolts will not be used later. Insert the coil end of the fish wire up through the foremost attachment point on the bottom of the frame rail and out the access hole on the side of the frame.
Place the square hole spacer over the coiled end, and insert it into the access hole. Throw the half inch carriage bolt into the fish wire and pull on the opposing side. Repeat this process on the opposing frame rail. Raise the hitch into position and place the half inch flat washer over the fish wire carriage bolt in between the hitch and the frame rail and tighten with the hex flange nut. Install the supplied m12 hex bolts and conical tooth washer up through the hitch and frame, where the factory hardware was previously removed. Insert the coiled end of the fish wire into the foremost attachment point of the inside of the frame rail and down through the square access hole in the frame.
Place the square-hole space over the fish wire and up into the access hole. Thread the carriage bolt into the coiled end of the fish wire and pull on the opposing side allowing the bolt to pass through the spacer frame and hitch. Remove the fish wire and secure the bolt with the supplied hex flange nut.
Repeat this process on the rear most attachment point in the opposing side of the vehicle.
Now that all of your hardware is in place, torque all half-inch fasteners to 75 foot pounds and m12 fasteners to 88 foot pounds. Reinstall the exhaust and spare tire.
