2019-2024 Chevrolet Blazer Hitch Installation Steps

1. Remove Rear Access Panel

The first step in our hitch installation process will be to remove the rear access panel found on the vehicle. To do this, we will need to remove its two wing nuts which can be done by hand. Following this, we are going to remove two more screws using our 15-bit and power drill.

2. Lower the Exhaust

Our next step will be to lower the vehicle’s exhaust to make room for the hitch to be installed. Before we begin to lower, we will install an exhaust strap to support its weight.

Two bolts need to be removed on the exhaust hanger on each side of the vehicle, which can be done with a torque wrench. With the bolts removed, we can now disconnect these exhaust brackets and remove the rubber isolator.

3. Enlarge Access Holes

To allow the provided hardware to be correctly installed, we will need to enlarge the access holes found on the vehicle’s frame. Using our step bit, we will enlarge the middle access hole on each side of the car.

4. Install Hardware

With our access holes ready, we can now use the fishwire method to install our provided hardware into the vehicle’s frame. Carriage bolts with a spacer will be installed on each side of the vehicle.

5. Raise Hitch Into Place

Now we are going to bring our hitch into place, aligning the attachment holes of the hitch with the access holes on the vehicle’s frame.

During this process, be sure to feed the fish wire through each hitch attachment point and install the flange nut to each bolt.

6. Tighten and Torque Hitch

With the hitch in place, we can now tighten and torque the hitch according to the manufacturer’s specifications to properly secure it to the vehicle’s frame. We will be using a 19mm socket to complete this step.

7. Re-Install Exhaust and Rear Access Panel

Now that our hitch is installed, we will complete this process by re-installing the lowered exhaust and the rear access panel we previously removed.

You should now have your trailer hitch installed on your Chevrolet Blazer.
