Ford Fusion Hitch Installation Steps
1. Remove Underbody Panel
To prep for our hitch installation we will need to remove the rear underbody panel of the vehicle. To remove this panel, we will need to remove six screws with an 8mm socket and four screws located on the inside with a 10mm socket. Once these screws are removed, we can detach and discard this panel as it will not be re-installed.
2. Install Provided Hardware
With the underbody of the vehicle now prepped, we can begin installing our hardware. We have a carriage bolt, spacer, and flange nut which need to be installed on each of our attachment points. There are two access points on each side of the vehicle where we will be using the fish wire technique to place our bolts.
3. Raise Hitch Into Position
With our bolts now in place, we can raise our hitch into position to be installed. As we are putting our hitch into place, we want to be sure to align it with the proper attachment points and to feed the fish wire through the access points on the hitch.
4. Tighten and torque hitch
After installing the bolts and hitch, it's time to remove the fish wire and fasten the flange nuts. To finish, we will tighten and torque the hitch as per the manufacturer's instructions to ensure it's firmly secured to the vehicle's frame.
You should now have your trailer hitch installed on your Ford Fusion.

Do You Need a Wiring Kit for Ford Fusion?
If you are planning to tow a trailer or camper with brake lights, running lights, and turn signal, you will want a wiring kit to power the lights on your trailer. The 4- way connector has basic lighting functions (running lights, brake lights, turn signal) while the 7-way connector adds a 12-volt circuit, circuit for electric trailer brakes, and reverse lights.
