Ford Mustang Mach-E Hitch Installation Steps

1. Remove Underbody Panel

To start the installation process, we will need to prep the vehicle for the addition of the hitch. We will begin by removing the large underbody panel to allow access to the vehicle’s frame rails. There will be eighteen 10mm bolts which will need to be removed, alongside four plastic push clips as well.

2. Install Provided Hardware

On each side of the vehicle, we will be installing two 7/16-inch carriage bolts with spacer plates, conical tooth washers, and 7/16-inch nuts. To install this hardware, we will need to fish wire the equipment through the appropriate access holes.

3. Trim Fascia Panel

Now that we have installed the provided hardware, the last step prior to aligning the hitch will be to trim the rear fascia panel. The instructions indicate that we will need to make an 8 1/2-inch wide trim to allow room for the hitch.

4. Raise Hitch into Position

The hitch can now be raised into its proper position on the vehicle’s frame. During this process, the wires from the bolts coming from the vehicle’s frame will need to also feed into the access holes of the hitch.

5. Tighten and Torque Hardware

Now that the hitch is in place, will need to replace the fish wire on the carriage bolts with our conical tooth washers and carriage nuts. With the provided hardware properly installed, we will need to tighten and torque them according to the manufacturer’s specifications.

6. Re-install Underbody Panel

Now that the hitch is installed, we can re-install the underbody panel. The best way to complete this step is by first installing the plastic push clips to hold it in place, while you install the rest of the 10mm bolts.

You should now have your trailer hitch installed on your Ford Mustang Mach-E.
