Hyundai Palisade (2020-2022) hitch installation steps

1. Lower spare tire and exhaust

Prior to installation, we will need to prep the vehicle’s underbody for the hitch. We will start by lowering the spare tire to be removed. Next, we are going to lower the exhaust by detaching it from its 3 exhaust hangers. To support your exhaust, attach a strap from the vehicle’s frame to the exhaust.

2. Remove driver-side underbody panel

Remove the underbody panel found on the driver’s side of the vehicle. To do this you will need a flathead to remove the push pins and a 14mm socket to remove the plastic bolts.

3. Trim bumper fascia

A small 5.5-inch by ½-inch cut of the bumper is required to allow for the hitch to fit properly in place. This can be done by using an air saw.

4. Raise hitch into place

After the previous adjustments to the vehicle’s underbody, the hitch can now be raised into position.

5. Install the hardware

Install the provided hardware to the proper access points of the vehicle’s frame. The larger long bolt will be installed on the passenger side, while the remaining two bolts will need to be installed on the driver’s side.

6. Tighten and torque the hitch

After the provided hardware has been properly installed, we will need to tighten and torque according to the manufacturer’s specifications.

7. Re-install spare tire and raise exhaust

With the hitch installation complete, don’t forget to re-install the removed spare tire and raise the exhaust back into its proper position.

You should now have your trailer hitch installed on your Hyundai Palisade.
