Kia Seltos (2021-2024) Hitch Installation Steps

1. Remove Underbody Panel

The first step in our hitch installation process will be to remove the underbody panel from the vehicle. This underbody panel is located on the rear passenger side of the vehicle. This panel features two retainer clips and one 10mm nut that will need to be removed.

2. Lower the Exhaust

Our next step will be to lower the vehicle’s exhaust to make room for the hitch to be installed. To lower the exhaust we will need to remove its two rubber isolators. But first, we will support the exhaust with a strap to ensure it does not fall completely from the vehicle. Once the exhaust hangers have been removed, also be sure to remove the rubber plugs found on the frame rail.

3. Install Provided Hardware

We are now ready to fishwire our hardware into the frame of the vehicle. There are two sets for each side of the vehicle that includes a bolt, spacer, conical tooth washer, and a nut. As you fish wire, a flex magnet tool can be helpful to locate your hardware as you feed it to the proper attachment points.

4. Raise Hitch Into Place

With the hardware installed, we can now raise the hitch into its proper position. As you lift the hitch, be sure to pass the fish wire through the corresponding holes. Once your bolts are through the attachment points of the hitch, you can remove the fish wire and install the washer and nut to each bolt.

5. Tighten and Torque

Now that we have raised the hitch into place, we will tighten and torque the hardware according to the manufacturer's specifications -  properly securing it to the vehicle’s frame.

6. Re-Install Exhaust

With the hitch in place, we can now re-install the vehicle’s exhaust and the previously removed rubber plugs.

7. Trim and Re-install the Underbody Panel

Our final step will be to make a small trim to the previously removed underbody panel to allow room for the hitch. After this trim has been made the panel can be re-installed to the vehicle.

You should now have your trailer hitch installed on your Kia Seltos.
