What is U-Haul Truck Share 24/7?
Truck Share 24/7 is a convenient self-service option for do-it-yourself movers, available at all 23,000-plus U-Haul locations. With just your smartphone and the U-Haul app, you can pick up or drop off a truck at any time, day or night, without a U-Haul representative being present.
Payment Options That Work for Real-Life Moves
Other rental companies may use pay-now tactics to get you to pay a lower price than you would at the counter, but U-Haul makes payment straightforward. U-Haul never uses those kinds of tactics, and the one price you see is the one you pay:
Debit and Credit Cards are Standard for Reserving and Renting
To make a reservation online, you’ll need a major credit or debit card in your name.
Cash and Checks are also an Option, too (with a Deposit at Pickup)
If you’d rather pay in cash, that’s allowed, but a deposit and in-store pickup are required.
- In-town truck: $100 or estimated rental charges (whichever is greater)
- One-way truck: $100 plus the rental rate
Early Morning and After-Hours Pick up: Moving Doesn’t Wait for Business Hours
U-Haul Truck Share 24/7 on the U-Haul App is designed for the reality that moves happen early, late, and on weekends. The program allows you to self-pick up and self-return during and outside normal business hours using the U-Haul App.
A few specifics the guide calls out:
- You must have your physical driver's license
- You’ll complete a live verification in the U-Haul App (including a selfie and photos of your driver’s license).
- Your truck is ready an hour before your pickup time (the “Pick Up My Truck” option may be unavailable if you arrive too early).
U-Haul Self Return: Drop off Anytime
U-Haul Self Return walks you through returning your truck after hours by:
- Answering a few questions about mileage, performance, and cleanliness
- Uploading required photos
- Reviewing pending charges
- Locking the truck and placing keys in the designated key drop box or slot
A Small Detail That Saves Time and Money
If you return equipment after hours, verifying your return in the U-Haul App can help you avoid a $20 convenience fee that may apply when a U-Haul Representative verifies equipment after store hours. (Your contract and location details can vary, so always review your rental agreement.)
