How to Secure an ATV on a Trailer

Step 1: Load the ATV Facing Forward

Always load your ATV with the front end closest to the trailer hitch. This helps maintain proper tongue weight and reduces the risk of sway while driving.

Step 2: Position Weight Correctly

Follow the 60/40 rule: about 60% of the total cargo weight should be in the front half of the trailer. Improper loading can cause dangerous sway or whipping at highway speeds.

Step 3: Use Proper Tie-Down Straps

Secure the ATV at four points using heavy-duty ratchet straps:

• Two straps pulling forward from the front of the ATV
• Two straps pulling rearward from the back
