What are Heavy-Duty Boxes?

Heavy-duty boxes – also called double-walled boxes – are cardboard boxes that are made with two layers of corrugated cardboard, providing them with double the strength and durability of standard cardboard boxes that only feature one layer.

This added durability makes them perfect for packing fragile items that require extra protection, as well as large and bulky items that need a sturdier box. Additionally, double wall boxes have puncture-resistant side walls, making them the top choice for shipping.

How Strong is Double-Walled Cardboard Vs. Single?

The short answer: double-wall cardboard is much stronger than standard, or single-wall cardboard. For example, our Large Heavy-Duty Box holds up to 80 pounds, while the standard Large Moving Box holds up to 65 pounds. The heavy-duty box also has a 48 edge crush test (ECT), which refers to stacking strength. For comparison, the standard box only has a 32 ECT. So, if you're looking for some serious cardboard muscle, our heavy-duty boxes are the way to go!
