Overhead Clearance Height for 15- and 20-ft U-Haul Moving Trucks
The clearance height of both 15- and 20-foot-long U-Haul moving trucks is 11 feet.
This clearance height is marked on the sun visor, on the instrumental panel, on the rear interior cab wall, on the A pillar to the left of the steering wheel, and on the front left side of the box (visible through the driver’s side mirror).
If you’re unsure whether you can clear an overhang, don’t guess! Exit the vehicle to gauge whether your truck can make it through. If you are traveling with others, have a passenger stand off to the side to guide you.
Watch out for apartment complex awnings, parking structures, motel overhangs, roof eaves, porch awnings, balconies, drive-thru entrances, service station canopies, bridges, electrical wires, and tree limbs. Please be aware that many overhead obstructions do not have clearance heights posted.
