How to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2004-2007 Dodge Grand Caravan (VIDEO)

Welcome to this Curt Manufacturing installation video of hitch number 12289 on a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan with Stow ‘n Go seating. First, let's go over the tools necessary for the install. You will need a 15 and 18 millimeter socket, a 1/2 inch ratchet, 1/2 inch extension and a half inch torque wrench.

To begin, you should be starting on the passenger side, locate and remove the three 10 millimeter bolts to the rear of the spring shackle as depicted in this video. There's also a 12 millimeter bolt that is just forward of the spring shackle that needs to be removed. Be sure to use extra caution when working around the A/C lines.

Once you removed all four fasteners, repeat this process on the driver's side. You are now ready to attach the hitch to the frame. Position the forward most driver side mounting tab over the leaf spring as shown. Once the tab is over the leaf spring, pull the hitch rearward. This allows you to place the passenger side over the leaf spring, as well. Raise the hitch into position lining up the holes in the rear most mounting tab with the three holes left over from the removal of a 10 millimeter bolt.

Now loosely bolt the hitch into position using the hardware that was previously removed. Now that all the hardware is in place, torque all 6 10 millimeter fasteners to 35 foot pounds, followed by torquing the 12 millimeter bolts to 63 foot pounds.

This completes the installation of the 12289 Class 2 receiver hitch on a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan with Stow ‘n Go seating. You are now ready to tow.
