Chevrolet Colorado (2015-2019) Hitch Installation Steps
1. Remove the Spare Tire
Make sure you remove the spare tire from your vehicle before you begin the installation process.
2. Remove Center Bracket
Right above where the spare tire was located there is a center bracket that needs to be removed. Remove this by taking out the four bolts using the 13mm sockets.
3. Remove Rear Bumper and Crossmember
The installed hitch is going to replace the current position of the cross member. To ease the removal of that cross member be sure to remove the bumper first. Remove bolts from each using a 21mm socket.
4. Reattach Rear Bumper
Reattach the rear bumper using its original bolts. We recommend using an extra pair of hands to help support the weight of the bumper.
5. Put Hitch into Position
The next step is to raise our hitch into position. Line up the two holes on each side of the hitch with the attachment points of the vehicle. Using the existing bolt and threading it into the two bottom weld nuts.
Repeat the same process on the passenger side.
6. Torque Down the Hitch
Now with all the bolts in place, use the 21mm socket to tighten and then torque all hardware according to the manufacturer's specifications.
7. Reattach Center Bracket and Spare Tire
Using its existing bolts, reattach the center tire bracket with the 13mm socket. Then proceed to reinstall the spare tire.
You should now have your trailer hitch installed on your Chevrolet Colorado.
