Some friends are quick to do favors while others take a little convincing. Whichever category your friends fall in, it’s important to show them your appreciation for being there in times of need. If your friends are helping you move, rewarding them with gifts wouldn’t be such a bad idea. Moving can already be expensive, so we’ve come up with cheap gift ideas for your generous helpers.
1. Brownies, Cupcakes and Cookies!
Food is a never a bad idea. To start off moving day right, bake some treats the night before for your friends. You can heat them up the next morning if needed. Sugar first thing in the morning will give you that extra jolt of energy for your move. For you health fiends, maybe set out some yogurt and granola in the morning.
2. Pizza. Enough said.
There aren’t too many things in this world that pizza can’t fix. Okay, well maybe there are some things but is there really a situation in which pizza can’t at least make it better? After you’ve unloaded the moving truck and have all belongings moved into your new home, take your friends out for a thank you dinner. Moving can already be expensive so instead of buying individual courses for your friends, get them a pizza to share!
3. Your junk, their treasure.
One man’s junk is another man’s treasure! Before you get rid of your ‘junk’ and have a yard sale, let your helpers pick through the things you don’t want. Who knows, maybe they’ll want that snakeskin-printed scarf from the 80s or that run down coffee table. The best part is this costs you nothing, while everyone benefits.
4. The Convenient Gift Card
The convenience of gift cards is a little underrated. In a moving situation, where you don’t have too much time, a gift card is quick and easy. It’s convenient for you and will give your friends the freedom to spend whenever, wherever.
5. I.O.U.
This may be the cheapest gift of all. Owing your friends a favor for their help may or may not get you into some trouble in the future, but at least for the time being, you’re not spending big bucks on thank-you gifts! If you do plan on giving your friends an I.O.U., proceed with caution. You might find yourself in a bad babysitting situation in the future. On the bright side, for the time being, your wallet isn’t bleeding.
For you penny-punching movers, these are some gift ideas to show some appreciation to your friends. Favors shouldn’t go unrewarded! Whatever you end up doing, don’t forget to thank your friends for helping you move.
