One of the most crafty holidays is coming up: Valentine’s Day. Get into the spirit of love by making a Valentine’s Day craft for your house, classroom, or office. In this post, I’ll show you how you can make your own Valentine’s Day Mobile; all you need is a few left over moving day supplies!
What you will need:
- Cardboard box
- Packing tape
- String (yarn, balloon string, twine, etc.)
- Box cutter
- Scissors
- A marker
Optional:
- Paint & paintbrush
- Glitter
- Heart stencil
Step 1:
Cut off however much cardboard you need to make hearts from leftover moving day cardboard boxes. I had red boxes leftover which made it more festive for the holiday. A box cutter is essential for this process. Remember, never to cut towards your body.
Step 2:
Draw the hearts with a marker, then cut them out. Make sure to have different sizes for the mobile. Don’t be afraid to use a heart-shaped stencil if drawing isn’t your strongest suit, it certainly wasn’t mine!
Step 3:
Poke holes through every heart for the string that will be looped through them later in the process. Then begin decorating them as fun and glittery as you wish! If you would like to leave them cardboard-brown, that works as well!
Step 4:
While you let the hearts dry, cut out strings at different lengths for the mobile. Once the cardboard hearts are dry, loop the strings through the holes in the hearts and tie them either in a bow or in a knot.
Step 5:
Create the hanger for the mobile; use some of the leftover cardboard scraps to cut out to long pieces of cardboard for the hanger. Stick both of those pieces together in a X-shape with hot glue or Smart Move Tape. Feel free to decorate these pieces as well.
Step 6:
Next tape the cardboard hearts hanging on heart strings to the hanger that you just made. And you are done! Hang it up somewhere to spread the love.
