As your moving day approaches you’ll likely cease buying food in order to facilitate packing the kitchen. Because of this, you might neglect packing lunch for the move or you’ll forget about it all together. This is a mistake! Your move will likely span the course of a day and you won’t have much time to go find food. This is why it’s a good idea to plan ahead and prepare some moving day snacks. Trail mix, for example, requires very little prep time and doesn’t require refrigeration. Here are some ingredients to consider when making trail mix:
Making your own trail mix is much better than buying it because you have full control over what ingredients you use. Your trail mix can be a healthy blend of nuts and fruit or you can load the sweets and get a sugar high. Here are some possible combinations to keep you going as you load and unload your moving truck.
Healthy Trail Mix
Both dark chocolate and almonds (unsalted) are known for their health benefits. Dark chocolate gives the body iron while almonds contain protein and healthy fats. Combine these with dried blueberries and a pinch of cinnamon and you have a healthy natural source of energy.
Fruity Trail Mix
If you’re a fan of dry fruit go crazy and mix them up! You can mix banana chips, dried blueberries, dried apple, dried strawberries, sunflower seeds and walnuts for a sweet and salty blend of flavors.
Autumn Trail Mix
I say autumn only because the colors and flavors evoke our senses for that time of the year, but this trail mix is perfect for any day. Mix dried peaches, dried cranberries, almonds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds and a pinch of cinnamon.
Popcorn Trail Mix
If you’re looking for a trail mix that resembles a dessert you can mix plain popcorn, M&Ms, and peanut butter chips. This sweet snack alone probably won’t keep you going for long, so you might be better off if you eat this one after a more filling moving day lunch.
