As the nights get longer and colder, sometimes you find yourself wanting to warm up next to a campfire or grill! These recipes will make the perfect addition your winter campfire moments and are even easy enough for the kids to make (with some supervision, of course!). These recipes are simple and perfect for the holidays! For other grilling recipes, click here.
1. S’mores
A campfire classic, s’mores are warm, gooey, and chocolaty! Just put a marshmallow or two on a skewer and roast them over your the fire until they are golden brown. Then split a graham cracker in half and put a piece of chocolate and the warm marshmallow in the middle. For an extra kick, replace the chocolate with a piece of your favorite candy bar (I like Snickers!). It’s delicious!
2. Hot Chocolate
Also an easy recipe to make, fill a large pan with milk and heat over your campfire. When the milk gets hot, add several packets of instant hot chocolate mix and stir for several minutes. Give the liquid a minute to cool, and serve in insulated cups (this doubles as a hand warmer, too!). Add peppermint flavor and top with whipped cream.
3. Pigs in a Blanket
A little less traditional, but grilling pigs in a blanket over a campfire is easier than it sounds! Take a roll of biscuit dough and wrap it over a sausage or mini hot dog on a skewer. Set over the campfire for about 10 minutes and turn occasionally until the biscuit is golden brown on the edges. Be careful not to burn it, and enjoy while warm.
