Like any city, moving to Nashville can leave questions in your mind. What months are best to move there? What is the housing market like? What is there to do when I get there? Well if these questions have been on your mind, you’re in luck! We have the answers. Here are the things we think you should know when moving to Nashville.
Too Hot. Too Cold. Just Right.
Nashville experiences a pretty wide variety of temperatures throughout the year, so choosing the right month to move is key. There is nothing worse than sweating up a storm in 90 degree weather while you’re unpacking your truck, or freezing your toes off either! In Nashville the ideal months to move are April and October, with the average temperature being 60 degrees for both of those months. The worst times to move there are June, July, August, December and January, which are either much too hot, or a bit too cold to move comfortably.
Buyers Beware?
Housing in Nashville is quite affordable. The median price of homes sold at the time of this article being written is barely over $180,000. Apartments are also relatively inexpensive, averaging a bit over $1,000 per month. A mere drop in the bucket compared to a city like Los Angeles, which has an average rental rate of over $2,000 per month. Overall it doesn’t matter if you are looking to rent or buy, Nashville offers great options.
What Will I Do On The Weekend?
Surprise, surprise; many of the historical buildings in Music City have to do with music. If you are a fan of country, or have family that is, you will definitely want to check out the Ryman Auditorium at some point. The building is rich in history and is sometimes referred to as “The Church of Country Music”. If you like Johnny Cash, then you should check out the museum dedicated to him. Last but not least, RCA Studio B is known as the “Home of 1,000 Hits”, and is where many greats including The Everly Brothers, Waylon Jennings, Roy Orbison, Dolly Parton, Elvis Presley and many others recorded music. This is certainly not all Nashville has to offer, but it should be enough to get you started once you move there.
