There is no better way to show your patriotism than by hanging a U.S. Flag on your new home. You may have just finished unpacking the boxes or you may have lived in your home a while, but you are now ready for the red white and blue! Some people choose to fly the flag year round while some choose certain holidays to display the U.S. Flag. For most people, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, and Veteran’s Day are the main holidays they fly the flag. Installing a flag on your home should be pretty simple and only take about 15 minutes to do. Here are some simple steps and tips for when you are ready to install a flag on your home.
Bracket
After you purchase the flag and mounting bracket from your local store, find a good visible place to hang it. Always a good idea to check from the street to make sure it will look good in that spot.
Attach the Bracket
You may want to grab a bit longer screws than what came with the mounting bracket. This way you know the flag will stay put if the wind kicks up.
Installing the Flag
Simply slide the flag pole into the mounting bracket firmly.
Enjoy!
Feel free to give old glory a salute!
Whatever the holiday or occasion, you should always follow flag etiquette: Make sure the flag never touches the ground, keep it folded nicely and neatly when not being displayed, and if you are keeping it on the house at night it should be illuminated.
