Life As a Full-Time RVer

Nov 3, 2015

If you are preparing for a life as a full-time RVer, there are many things you need to know before you hit the open road. Many people who live the full-time RV lifestyle are retirees seeking adventure, but not everyone waits until they’ve completed their career. Some young people travel in search of a calling or they travel to view the majestic countryside.

Full time RVer

“On the road again. Just can’t wait to get on the road again. The life I love is makin’ music with my friends. And I can’t wait to get on the road again…”

Pros and Cons of Life on the Road

Full-time RVing isn’t always what it’s made out to be. Some say it feels like living the dream, while others say it is frustrating, lonesome, and stressful. Following bad directions from locals, living in tight quarters, or getting stuck in construction traffic are some minor setbacks RVers have to deal with. Just like us non-RVers, they experience daily stressors, but on most other days they feel liberated and free! RVing can provide you with: a reason to travel to new places, a way to experience new areas and people, a lot of fun new adventures, and a way to stay active or physically fit as you hike and explore new places!

RV Lifestyle Costs

The truth is that the costs of living as a full-time RVer are completely manageable. There are tons of great options for saving money on campgrounds, gas, health insurance, taxes, car, and RV registration, etc. The ultimate key to managing expenses, on or off the road, is to manage your variable costs to whatever you have available. The biggest portion of an RVer’s variable budget is typically camping fees, gas, groceries, and miscellaneous purchases. So, manage those costs well to give yourself the ability to say flexible on the road.

RV Storage

Thinking about RVing part time? Want to travel abroad? Don’t let your dream of seeing the world get in the way of your RVing lifestyle.  There are plenty of RV storage options for you and your family. The most important thing is that you keep your recreational vehicle secure, damage free, and easy to access for when you return. Plus, many facilities will even give 1 month of self-storage free or other offers to make the reservation with you!
