Living in a Haunted House

Oct 24, 2012

If you love The Amityville Horror, then you are in luck. The home used for this classic scary movie is now for sale.

If you are looking in the Toms River, New Jersey area and have $955,000 to spare, then this 3.370 square foot piece of movie history could be yours. The current owners claim that bleeding walls and demonic voices are not included and paint their time in the home as happier than what was depicted in the film.

“Amityville Horror” was based on a real house in Amityville, NY where 6 people were killed in the 1970’s. That house is still around and was up for sale about two years ago.

Washington’s Timberline Lodge was the movie setting for “The Shining”

Does all work and no play make you a dull boy? Not everyone can afford to buy million-dollar spooky houses, but you may be able to afford a scary movie weekend escape. The movie “The Shining” used the Timberline Lodge in Washington for many of their shots of the hotel. The Stanley hotel in Colorado is the hotel that inspired King to write “The Shining.”  Hopefully your stay at either of these hotels is less “redrum” and more “weekend fun.” At the very least they would provide a great location to read Steven King’s creepy classic.

Now, I know that most of you don’t live in New Jersey and are not willing to move there just to live in an infamous home. If you want to find a haunted house in your neck of the spooky woods, then check out this Wikipedia page for list of “haunted” locations across the US.
