A reservation was made the evening of 6/30 at our nearest U-Haul location (8746 W Bell Rd Peoria – 2 miles/6 minutes) - for a 10 ft truck and a hand truck. Reservation was made for 8:00 AM the morning of 7/2 for four hours (Location hours listed as 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM). The following day there were phone calls with what was later seen to be dubious claims – no available truck at chosen location – location wasn’t open at 8:00 AM. We were supposed to receive a discounted rate for the truck as well as a considerably discounted rate on gas per mile. Instead we were directed to pick up the truck at a location at 43rd Avenue and Bell (7.5 miles and 20+ minutes) which was primarily an appliance store. On the way we passed our chosen U-Haul location and a second U-Haul location at 7340 Bell - both of whom were open and appeared to have a full array of available trucks. We were instructed to go to the rear of the appliance store where the key to our truck was in a coded lock box. We then drove back to our home (where we discovered no hand truck had been included), and then to a storage unit near our home at 75th and Cactus. Charged for mileage, the truck was then returned to the rear of the appliance store where app instructions were followed for pictures of the odometer, graphic representation of the gas gauge, and then a request for 6 additional pictures of the truck. That was just two damn much and that is when we went to the front and entered the store. When loudly expressing our displeasure with the entire “clandestine” and run-around experience I was greeted by Kyle. The experience had been EXTREEMLY maddening and we felt we were nothing but guinea pigs in a U-Haul labor/money saving experiment. I could have simply walked into our nearest location that morning and rented the truck. But as much as I have NOTHING good to say about the rental experience, I cannot be more complimentary of Kyle. I instructed customer service attitudes and skills for nearly 30 years, and Kyle is A number one. He calmly and engagingly addressed our concerns and masterfully diffused my anger. He then proceeded to take us to his desk and adjusted the transaction to our satisfaction at that time. However, when reviewing the transaction on our records – the full amount remained unchanged with unnecessary mileage charges and the phantom dolly rental!! Bottom-line (without the profanities I’d like to express), the whole contactless rental procedure and billing sucked. And while it appeared the man who made it right despite the runaround inconvenience was a star, the overcharge has remained and our disappointment – make that anger – with the entire experience is our lasting impression. We expect the adjustment and refund to be forthcoming. And, come on, DO NOT RATE THE LOCATION BASED ON UHAUL'S OVERALL PERFORMANCE AS A PROVIDER!! Robert Silver

The location isn’t the problem, except having trucks in the parking lot….,and zero thoughts that trucks are in back of the building. Picture sent to me said the truck was in front of the store, which it wasn’t. And the store doesn’t look like a Uhaul store at all.

Location shows up as where the gym is. Had to ask the furniture store where the location is. They did point me to the correct location. Other than that, the service was good, guy was clear with the instruction. I do recommend them.

The employee was very kind and helpful but there was only one truck available. The truck might have been used to transport cannabis harvest. It smelt very strong and all our stuff is smelling cannabis. We could not sleep in our house first night.

To be clear, this comment is about U-Haul again and NOT Direct Discount Appliances. They changed the location on me again. The original location is open to 7PM so that's the time I was working with. The location I ended up with closed at 5PM but the U-Haul person I was talking to said I could do a "self check-in" after 5. She sent a text message and an email with a link for the self check-in. When I got to the location around 6PM, BOTH self check-in links gave me "page not found" errors. I parked the truck next to another U-Haul truck and a trailer in front of the building but didn't see key drop box so I had to go back again this morning to give them the key (and found out the key drop box and where I should have parked the truck was in back of the building).
