Uhaul themselves needs to start making sure they have trucks available on the day the customer schedules especially when uhaul themselves confirms. it really messes up peoples plans. As for draft auto repair I would recommend them to anyone mechanical or uhual truck they went above and beyond to make sure the day I had to reschedule move to I had a truck thank you guys and I appreciate it.

Our originally scheduled pick up location, Ruckersville, VA, was a disaster. Availability of truck had been confirmed but there was no truck available when we got there. We had to go to a farther location to get a truck which messed up the schedule of our move. Suggestions for U-Haul rental policy: extra charges for a customer to keep a truck extra hours beyond return time stipulated in rental agreement. Financial penalties for keeping extra days. Add tracking functionality to trucks so that trucks kept by delinquent customers can be located and retrieved if necessary. Staffer at Ruckersville said that this kind of snafu “happens all the time”. Not good.

On April 27, I called UHAUL and made reservation over the phone for a 20ft truck, one way from Charlottesville to Roanoke, picking up noon May 20 (USA Auto Sales, 1189 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, VA) and returning NLT noon May 22. Reservation # 98496933. At 3:41 pm May 19 (day before pickup) – I received a phone call, text and email from UHAUL saying that my reservation had been changed and I now had to pick up the truck at Kiki Tobacco Shop in Stuarts Draft VA, about 35 miles outside of Charlottesville. The email instructed me to call Kiki Tobacco Shop and confirm. I called the number provided and received an odd message indicating that the cell number was not in use. I immediately called UHAUL and voiced my concern – even asked if they were sure this was a valid location – and was told that it certainly was valid, they had a truck for me, and not to worry. She even provided me another number for Kiki Tobacco Shop. The UHAUL representative said she'd record my confirmation and she would even give me 100 extra miles since we'd have to drive further (from Stuarts Draft to the original origination point, Charlottesville). She assured me everything was set and not to worry. I arrived at the address for Kiki Tobacco Shop in Stuarts Draft right before noon on May 20 and found an abandoned building, the windows were boarded up and there were no people or UHAUL trucks. My heart sunk. I immediately called UHAUL customer service, told them what happened and after several minutes was told that another location (Draft Auto Repair), just a few miles down the road had a truck for me. When I arrived at Draft Auto Repair, the woman told me that she was sorry but she did not have a 20ft one-way rental for me and she immediately called her UHAUL contact. In the end, she provided me a larger truck (26ft) one-way rental at the same price as a 20ft, gave me an additional $30 off for the hassle, but only allowed me 112 miles. She also cancelled my original reservation and created a new one (contract # 10900007) I completed my move and successfully returned the truck to UHAUL Moving and Storage at Airport in Roanoke, VA. In the end I was charged an additional $22.57 because I went over the 112 allowed miles by 51.3 miles. First of all, the people I spoke to all around were very nice and helpful. While this worked out in the end, I am not pleased with the hassle I had to go through. UHAUL should never rent a truck from a place that no longer exists! Additionally, I don't think I should have paid for the extra miles. Per google maps, it's roughly 166 miles from Stuart Draft to Charlottesville and to Roanoke. I think I ‘lost' the additional 100 miles given me.

The truck I rented had a small leak in the roof. It really wasn't a big deal to me but should probably get fixed. Renting was easy. Drop off was easy. Everyone we dealt with was great! The truck was perfect for what we needed!

Train trailer handlers to properly maintain the equipment. I.e. grease or oil the ball locking device and properly hook up the chains and take a picture when they are done for proof.

The location is fine and the guy that runs it is very nice. However, the 24/7 Truck Share thing was a joke. It's clearly not set up correctly in this location. I arrived early to pick up the van which I had scheduled more than a week prior, and filled out all the pre-pick up information. When I tried to pick up the truck the app gave me an error saying the location wasn't open yet (which makes no sense because the point of this is to be 24/7). So I waited for every bit of a half hour waiting on them to serve 3 other people in line ahead of me. The guy got the key to van out of his cabinet in the office so clearly truck share wouldn't have been possible to begin with. So overall the truck was nice, location was nice, but I wasted almost 45 minutes trying to pick the thing up.

The truck was clean and ready to go! I was given the truck on EMPTY so I returned it on EMPTY, I was then charged an additional $60 for returning it as it arrived (two payments for $68.31). I called and complained in an attempt to figure out how I'm paying roughly $140 to go less than 50 miles. My card has now been charged with one $68.31 and one 136.63 totaling $204.94. ABSURD. Absolutely 0 stars. I'm expecting a refund for a MINIMUM of $68.31, should be $100.

It was NOT the location but the 24/7 verify that was the problem! We sat in our vehicle for over a hour trying to upload an acceptable photo! My son's license was not accepted because the tip of the corner was broken. If during a police license check & transactions at the bank with it is accepted; why is it a problem for Uhaul?!

When I dropped the truck off (after hours) and went online at uhaul.com/share, it as told I had no pending returns/reservations. I don't know if it was accepted. When I called customer service they said it was already "checked in". So I don't feel secure that the whole transaction was completed. Also, on this page it says I returned it somewhere in Chicago. That isn't right. I dropped the truck off in Wilmington, NC.

Make customers aware of additional charges before renting. I was quoted $68 for two day rental and was charged $114 because I exceeded mileage and was charged. 069 per mile.

people were nice and helpful. .However, process (for want of a better word) sucked. My reservations for location for pick up and drop off were changed without my knowledge until just before picking up/dropping off. This added extra time and stress to get the locations changed again. e-mail process was not accurate and difficult to work with-I finally had to give up on it.

Excellent customer service ! They always go above and beyond any expectations to make sure the customer is happy. Even with last minute changes to our plans, they happily accommodated our chaotic schedule and made it work. It seems like we are always moving something and so rent from Uhaul dealers often. This is easily the best Uhaul experience in the entire area!

Had a bad experience with U-haul, first I had a pickup in Buckingham va, worst because non working telephone lines, next I had to threat a employee because there scared to help people then I got on a phone with the manager and said only one left was in waynesboro va 1hr 25 mins away, then they charged me for going over the miles when they screwed up my move and only reimburse me $50 which should have been another $40 reimbursement but they didn't. Uhaul is slowing falling apart.
