This remote location is not kept up to what my experience is with Uhaul; **they are not practicing COVID precautions as mandated for businesses in Butte County for the date of service.** After spending a long time on the phone with the Uhaul representative trying to guide me to find the lock box for the key, turns out this location did not have this feature and the key was with the gas station owner.

The uhual itself, was clean and ran fine. However, the first day on the road we had to pull over every 45 min and fix the strap on the tow dolly that holds the tires in place. One of the straps was fringed and was to short so it kept slipping off the tire. Eventually we ended up pulling over to a safe spot off the road and called in for roadside services. I was in a spot where my internet wouldn't load, so I had to call in and wait over 30 min for someone to answer my call. Then wait another 25min for the tow truck to come, which was frustersting! But it was very unsafe to continue down the road with the tire strap coming off... the tow truck brought an additional strap with him and added that on. He "okierigged" it on there and put it to where the D ring was at the top so if the road would have been pretty bouncy, it could have easily come up done. My husband looked it over and decided it would be fine for short hall, but he would fix it the next day... well, about an hour down the road I seen sparks flying from the trailer, so we pulled off into a parking lot and the S part on the chain connected to the trailer snapped and was dragging on the road. I called in again, and told the agent of the issue. He said he would call me back in 15 to 25min and update me of what the service time will be..... after waiting exactly 1 hour, I called in again, I let the lady know what was going on and she put me on hold to speak with the previous agent, who she then transfered me to. He informed me that he contacted 10 towing companies and none of them had the proper equipment needed and the nearest store was closed. He told us if we could safely drive to a near motel we'd be reimbursed for the night of the motel. I told him I wanted to speak to someone about being reimbursed some part of the cost of our uhual rental and he let me know i would need to speak to someone at the time of dropping off the uhual. He also let me know someone would call me between 6 and 8am to let me know when services would be, and that they'd have to wait for the store to open and it may be earlier, but he was unsure at that time. But that i would get a call 1 hour before the tow truck came. Which set us back, because we planned on driving further then we were able to,, and we planned on being up and back on the road by 5am!!! The next morning, I got a text to call when we were ready for services, so I called in as soon as i seen the text at 5:30am and requested the service be completed....... the gentleman we had help us this time was very quick in keeping us updated every step of the way! I believe his name was Doug. He ended up letting us know the tow truck would need to go into the city and pick up a new tow trailer for us and would bring it to us so it would be a few hours. It ended up being about 10:30am that it got to us. Then my husband had to unload our vehicle and reload it back on to the new tow trailer. When we dropped the uhual off I let them know of the troubles we had, and how I was told to speak to them about the partial refund for the troubles. The lady was very nice, and very helpful! She was sincere and felt bad for all the issues we had, she was able to help with the motel reimbursement, but was unable to help with any reimbursement for the issues, and she let me know I'd need to contact the location where we picked up the uhual. So I called them, and the guy barely spoke English and gave me the main uhual phone number to call. When I told them the issues the lady said she would submit a complaint and the location where we picked up the actual dolly, would contact me in a few days. It was a little frusterating to have all the issues we did, then to basically get the run around. If I do not hear back by Wednesday, I will be calling again.

**BEWARE OF OVERCHARGING** Employee at the location was unable to provide any assistance, had to call for help from his boss. I was not given any paperwork at the time of truck pickup, but handed the key to the truck. Received online contract at the CONCLUSION of my rental which had inaccurate mileage. I was charged for 50 additional miles AND SAFEMOVE insurance which I declined when the reservation was set. Now I am unable to get any response from the location regarding the matter. *****If you rent from this location ensure you keep pictures and very tight records of truck condition/mileage/gas etc. they WILL OVERCHARGE YOU AND THEN IGNORE YOU*****

Nice man at the station, but he did not speak English and did not check the vehicle, mileage or gas level. He told me to take pictures . I also ordered an extra piece if equipment that I had to load myself. It would be good to complete everything online at this site. I used this location because it is close to my home. Check out went smoothly. Truck drove well and was clean.

The check in process took almost 15 minutes, this after I had already done an online check in. The cashier counter at a convenience store/gas station is not the most appealing place to conduct business. The man I interacted with at the location spoke very little English making communication difficult. I'm not really sure why I had to pick up the truck at this remote rental site when there was an actual UHaul facility just a short distance away. The truck was mostly clean with the exception of the cargo compartment. I had to sweep the compartment before loading belongings because there were wood shavings in the back of the truck.

There was trash in the cab and a nasty looking stain of something sticky in the cup holder when I was given the truck. After quite a long wait processing my reservation, (even after I had already entered everything online) the fuel line was marked higher than it should have been at the start (marked at the 5/8th line when it was actually only 3/8ths full). I had to go in and ask the nice lady to help me out by verifying this, which took extra time I didn't have. I almost missed my storage unit closing time. When I returned, the gas pump there showed $2.99/ga but charged me for $3.99 with no warning. I was so short on time I didn't want to argue it but it felt like being intentionally ripped off - just like the gas level on the sheet. I returned the truck several hours early because I lost so much time during check-in that I was unable to load everything into the van before my storage unit closed. The man I returned the truck to in the evening did not speak well enough English to communicate with me verbally but he was kind as well and we got on with hand gestures. He did not wear his mask over his mouth and nose - most of the time it was around his neck. He coughed a loud, mucusy smokers' cough into the store without a mask on when we was right behind me walking out to go have a cigarette. The store is a disorganized mess where everything is shelved randomly. Very nice people but the service could have been much better. All in all I was able to rent the truck and get the largest items into the storage unit but it was more difficult than it should have been and I missed getting all my items. I will now have to rent a van to get the rest tomorrow and will rent from a different location.

Unit was dirty, sticky, and smelled. I did not receive the hand truck, that I reserved. When I asked about it, I received just a blank stair. I originally reserved the unit from a different location, but received a call 48 hours before to pick up at this location. The unit performed perfectly, just as expected. Thank you U-Haul for offering a business needed by most Americans.

I could not understand the man in the store. I had to talk to the wife over the telephone because “she was the one that handled the paperwork” When returning the trailer there was no place to park it. The man asked me to drive around the back of the building. I had to get the neighboring business to move a car because the trailer could not make the turn with the vehicles behind the building. Again the man asked me to drop the trailer in a place it would not fit. He started trying to direct me waving his hands in odd gestures (not normal signaling) asked me to again try to pull the trailer through another area where it was not possible for it to fit. Trick fit through fine but trailer was to wide and would have either hit another U-Haul truck or concrete stand for a car vacuum. I ended up just telling the man to take care of the trailer himself and dropped it in the parking lot.

Trying to shake me down for 1 napkin in the cup holder, 1 crumb of a French fry. Sending me a picture of the "Damage " there is normal wear and tear that comes with renting equipment, Are the u-haul proprietors tied in with a bonus program for higher fees charged?

The entire rental process was a cluster from beginning to end. The only part that went well was from after I picked up the truck to the moment I drove into the parking lot at the return location. Both locations and the one I never went to were unorganized and poorly run.

The owner of the business was not present and the gas/store attendant could not help me. I had to wait 30 minutes for the owner(s) to arrive. When they arrived they proceeded to tell me that I received an email with a key number and that I should have just taken the key from the counter. I let them know that I pre-paid, but did not do a mobile check in; therefore I did not receive an email with a key number. They had me take the truck without any paperwork, miles, fuel level, or vehicle inspection. I took pictures of everything becuase I was leary. It was a very upsetting experience and delayed the move out time for my daughter. One staff member, Manuel, tried to assist me to the best of his ability and was very kind.

This establishment was horrible. The clerk double charged me. We drove the truck 7 miles total and they charged us for cleaning. The man was rude and did not give any verification/reciept etc. This store should not bemused by UHaul as a service.

This was worse experience Of renting a U-Haul which I thought would be great since it was very convenient and close to where I live. But it was not convenient in the least. I went to this vendor three times same day, and finally I got to rent a U-Haul the worker was not friendly or considerate of my time and long time waiting.... I will not rent from this uhaul vendor again nor will I recommend this vendor. I will rent elsewhere...

I rented a 6x12 trailer and I told the lady we would pick up between 3 pm and 5 pm. When we arrived at 4:45 I was told that it was given to someone else. We were given an excuse that since we didn't pick it up by 4 pm they take it away. The manager stated that someone didn't see the note that we would pick up around 5 pm. Anyway I'm not a happy customer and I'm sure you could care less.

Rented from a Valero gas station, the employees were very nice but not very helpful. After all the paperwork was done they sent me out the door with no help finding the trailer. When I clarified which one, I asked multiple times for them to move the uhaul truck which was parked in front of the trailer tongue. The trailer tongue was set on the ground and I had to ask multiple times help lifting it because I wasn't trying to get hurt before a weekend of moving. Cargo trailer wreaked of either skunk or cannabis but because of the season I assumed cannabis. This made the household goods that were transported also smell.

Everything went very smoothly. We especially appreciated the mobile check in and drop off. It made the entire process so much easier. The only thing that we noticed was that remnants of food were on and around the cup holder area as well as a bottle cap. Other than that, the truck was clean and in good working order.

Made reservation for one way - was charged extra because the rental location agent changed the order to an "in town" rate/order. The reservation was clearly made for one -way - check everything - cost me a wasted extra $150.00

Truck and trailer was reserved at this location, but only the truck was there . We had to go to a different location, which we did . We waited almost 2 hours cause the personnel was having trouble processing the reservation only to learn the trailer they had wasn't the I reserved . I then called to file a claim and was told a manager would get back to me and that never happened. Very bad customer service.

Truck was dirty inside/outside. I was not able to aprove photos from company before picking up the truck. (Smartphone pick up) I had to record video photos myself just in case. Returned the truck in store the same day. Attendant at Valero not helpful at all. Next time will make everything in person. That's the way you make sure everything is as promised.

Customer service is non existent... showed up for my trailer and they kept helping customers that came in after me first for gas and store purchases... waited a half hour to do paperwork... once done they pointed out the door to where my trailer was... I asked if they were going to hook it up and he said no... I said usually they hook me up at other U-Haul and checknthat all lights were working... he just shrugged his shoulders... I rented for 24hrs but returned the same day... the next morning they called my phone and when I answered they had no greeting... the woman just said... “ you rented a trailer and you are very late returning” I told her I returned it yesterday and she said let me check and hung up... I will never rent from this location again and neither should anyone else... just horrible gives U-Haul a bad name...

I was overcharged on miles by at least 15 extra miles. Seeing as I had to drive all over town to secure a vehicle I should have gotten when I reserved it at 10 Am and received it at 3 PM (5 hours late), I would have expected the best service possible and a discount on my vehicle. I received neither.

Rented from the good location in Chico, CA but then was directed to pick up the truck a a junk hole location. Personal were inept and unwilling to help. Had to wait 45 minutes for the owner to return and she was never called to tell her she had customers waiting. I had an appointment and confirmed it with the owner. One couple canceled and went down the street to Buget rental. This pick up location needs to be fired!

The check in process was very difficult. The person doing the paperwork had to call to get help. It took almost 30 minutes to complete. Then there was no orientation to the equipment. I will not use this location again. However the person handling the check in was nice.

We received no assistance when we returned the trailer. We had to unhitch it in a very poorly lit parking lot. The man “helping us” was very hard to understand. The only positive was that we were able to return the trailer at night.

As i have discussed with ur regional office. My quote...per john after business hrs.. went from 560 to 725 when i attempted to rent the truck. Luckily Deidre was able to assist. I pd for them to connect my vehicle by josway. This young man is completely inexperienced and ultimately the strap fell off while in route. I contacted them immediately as i dis not want another customer to experience the same. Serious risk. Upon my arrival...i realised that murrieta branch...josway...had input the wrong drop off spot. I contacted uhaul to change to the one i had requested and i was on the phone for 40 min trying to change unril i spoke with Rachel?...who assisted me in under 2 min. Now upon arrival to have corrected drop spot to remove the tow hitch...(regional office was on the phone at this time and over heard this entire conversation) i was told he did NOT know how to do it...this was outside while i was waiting for paperwork because the female at this location could not process returning just the hitch...20 mins later...i removed the hitch myself and in the process injured my right hand and 2 knuckles. In pain and infuriated...the female exits to the outside with my paperwork and i leave with just the truck as i had to continue to move. I did return the truck today and again was not able to get my concluding paperwork as bob or bill could not figure out how to do so. I left with a hand written note stating the truck...mileage...fuel etc was in tact and i am currently awaiting my closing paperwork via email. Moving is very stressful but this experience was hands down appalling and refuse to ever rent from uhaul again. If u have any further questions regarding this experience...pls call me

I was charged double for a 1 day rental. My reservation was for 10am pickup on Thursday November 29th. I did not leave the Valero Gas until 10:45am because the computer was not working. Once the rental agent received help by calling UHaul I was then left to hook up the trailer by myself in the pouring rain! I then pulled the trailer out of the ankle deep water so I could test the signals, although I could not test the brakes because no one helped me. Also, I had to go back into Valero to get the wire harness to hook up the trailer. I turned in the trailer at 10:10am in Friday November 30th. I unhooked the trailer myself but was not able to lift the hitch again so I asked for help and a mechanic came to assist me. It was 10:30am when I left the Valero. I am going to report this double charge as a fraud if this over charge is not reversed immediately! I have been a loyal long term customer of UHaul as my rental history on my account will show. I have never received such poor service and will not ever rent from UHaul again if my pickup is at the Valero Gas station on Esplanade in Chico!

Hire some help. That nice lady kicked butt and has excellent customer service skills. She remained quite calm for the chaos created by other customers. That being said she should have had help because it was not right what she was having to do by herself.

When returning the vehicle the employee that was working didn't know how to do the check in procedure and expected me to just turn the keys over without giving me any prof of him accepting the vehicle. He said that only his boss does the check ins and his boss was off for the day.

The clerk's command of English was marginal, resulting in me doing almost all the data entry on the UHaul system keyboard. Worse than that was when I asked for assistance getting the auto hauler trailer hooked up (would have gone faster if staff had assisted in guiding me on backing up for hook up) the clerk walked outside & then promptly disappeared for the duration of the time I was getting the auto hauler hooked up. Fortunately, I'm well familiar with trailers & hooking them up solo. I can only imagine the legal chaos that could have ensued had I not had any experience & there was equipment damage/injury due to ignorance/lack of knowledgeable assistance. As it was, since there were no staff, nor trailer dolly to use, I had to muscle the auto hauler around by myself (I'm 65 years old) just to get it in a position where I could get my truck hooked up. Not at all cool! However, on the plus side, my wife said the 1-800 number was tremendously helpful in helping her find an auto hauler on short notice.
