I requested a 26 ft truck for 3 days for a long distance move. What I got was a 26 ft truck for 3 hrs and a local return. No 26 ft trucks were available so we had to rent a smaller truck and then drive from Portsmouth to New Port News and pick up a tow trailer to go along with the smaller truck. Not too happy.Gail M.

When I arrived, my 10 foot truck was hooked up to a tow dolly. This location is closed on Sunday so I had absolutely no assistance. The furniture dolly I rented was also nowhere to be found. I was on the phone for about 30 minutes before getting someone on the regional U-Haul number. With them unable to help, I was able to remove the tow dolly with the help of a family member. This experience was so terrible. The truck was low on gas and filthy on the inside. Not to mention I was put behind schedule on my moving trip. So disappointed.Chelsea S.
The trailer was not available as contracted for. After a confirmation call there was no trailers available once we drove there. This site was very diligent in trying to solve the problem. I view this to be more of a UHAUL problem than a problem with this location.Brian H.

When I got it, it looked cleaned inside and nothing major. I went to dig my phone from under the seat when it fell and there was food from previous customer under there. Old stale fries, crumbs from food. Other than that, I would recommend this location and company!Sabrina W.

Next time, clean the truck and rid it of the gasoline smell that it is still on my boxes and mattresses!!! The wheels on the furniture dollies were worn out and raggedy and hard to use while moving. I want a refund for the furniture dollies and some kind of credit for the truck smelling like gasoline and the smell all on my boxes and mattresses.RENEE E.

When I called the location, representative seem to be bother by the call, upon arriving, the guy who attended me was on his air pods on the phone. I was given a quote on how much it'll be based on the cost, the quote was set for 78$, which would include everything and 30 miles including taxes and the insurance plan. I made sure to ask if I need to put gas on the vehicle, he said that they charge by the mile not the gas. When I return the car, the lady took my keys and told me I'll be getting an email with the receipt, I told her how much would it be, she said I'll be getting that info later that day any questions ask. Later that day nothing, the next day I got a charge of 123$ on top of the 78$, totaling to 200$, once I received the bill break down, I'm getting charge 30$ for gas on top of the 85 cents per mile, i did go over 30 miles but the quote was misleading. I tried calling back but keep going straight to voicemail. Stay away from this placeJose C.

The only thing I did not like is that when we picked up the truck it was noted that we wanted to drop it off at a location near our house. Half way on our drive from Alexandria back to Newport News we are told we have to take it to downtown Newport News. Not a place a woman wants to be at night.BRIANGENE S.

One of the three dollies were completely missing and the person first tried to play it off as if it was not listed when it was. Then she said it would be changed on the contract and the price reduced. I check online that night and neither had happened.Robert B.

This location was much farther than the initial drop off location based on my 23606 zip code in Newport News, VA home location. The initial drop off was located only minutes from that location. Instead, the drop off location provided by U-Haul was more than 6 miles farther in south Newport News.HAROLDLEON S.

When we got there the guy was asleep on the couch... he set things up and didnt do it anywhere near correctly which when it got it home the wire snapped which we had to rewire and then it broke the front of my car. No one seemed to care.Michael S.

There was trash left in the back of the truck provided for me. It had a very strong smell as if it had been left in the back of the truck for a while. Moving the bag of trash there were maggots underneath the bag. I took it upon myself to clean the back of the truck so I could start my moving process. However, the vehicle should have been cleaned upon renting it to me. Very dissappointed.Tiffany R.

I requested a pick up at Churchland Movers. Upon arriving and waiting approximately 1 hour I was informed that they did not have the tow dolly I reserved. I had to drive to Newport News to pick up the dolly when I live 2 miles from Churchland Movers. Why does your website include a pick up location field when you can't even get one to the city I requested a pick up in. This is the 3rd time in one year that this has happened. The final bill came out higher than expected. The mileage fee adds up pretty quickly. An alternate rental option may have been less expensive, but U-haul caught my attention by $20/day rental teaser rate.Douglas E.

It seemed that the person checking us wasn't exactly sure what he was doing. He sent us out with the wrong mileage on the truck which then complicated the length of time it took to return the truck at the next location. We also had to pick up the truck from a different location than the one that we booked it with. The equipment was good and the person sending us out was pleasant despite the error of the mileage..stephanie B.
