Despite talking to two U-Haul customer service agents who confirmed I could pick up my truck before the location opens and receiving instructions via text about this as well, I get to the store and was not able to do so. I sat outside for multiple hours waiting to get my truck. The employee said U-Haul didn't tell him he needed to be at the store until 2 hours after my reservation.Matthew R.
Inside of truck was dirty. There was a bag of trash and food in the bagâ€”disgusting. Gas tank was almost empty. I ordered and paid for additional equipment but it wasn't in the truck. Had to go to another location to pick it up and was charged again. Register my complaint w customer service and was told someone would contact me but have not heard from anyone. It was a bizarre experience. When we arrived Jessy was nowhere to be found, instead his brother called him up, and put him on speaker phone for us to complete our reservation. He then hung up on us many times throughout the process and told us to instead text him. And then they just told us to find the uhaul on the street, did not know which one was for us. We waited about 25 mins just to complete the pick up with all of the back and forth on the phone.JAMES H.
Truck was ready and clean, but billing was not transparent. I was charged extra fees without explanation and for extra insurance that I did not wish to pay for the additional coverage. I wanted a truck with no insurance instead I got 50 dollars of additional fees. Will not use this location or Uhaul again and would like at minimum additional fee and insurance coverage waived/refunded.Margaret K.
Man at Jessy's was very rude. We were 20 mins late due to traffic and then logging into U-Haul to start the process of collecting our truck. The business was locked and when I called them, he told me I was late and that was too bad. I had to wait 15 minutes for him to get back from wherever he was to give me my key. Even then he was withholding the key and pretending like he wouldn't give it to me.Emily S.

This wasn't really a drop-off location--it was just a shop in the middle of the city. There was nowhere to park the truck, and the shop was randomly closed for 45 minutes even though it was within the operating hours. When the owner did return, he just directed us to park the truck "somewhere on the street," even though it was nearly impossible to find a space. This was a completely unhelpful experience in every way.Alexandra L.

Drop off location is a small shoe repair shop on a busy street front. The proprietor wasn't present, aparently preoccupied with something in a nearby lot. Would not provide me with a receipt, and held up his phone and said I'd get one electronically. The receipt I ended up getting said I turned in the vehicle a day later. Very unprofessional.Brian E.

Owner of the shop was not there on time. Was about 20 mins late for me but apparently people had been waiting for over an hour. Could've been a one off situation but other than that, he was apologetic and professional.Fernando C.
The owner of the location was not there at the arrival time. I had to call him and waited an hour for him to arrive and give me keys which delayed my set move-in time to my building. I also ordered a dolly and pads, neither of which came with the truck. The truck was also reported as having 1/2 tank of gas at pick up, however, there was actually less than that in it but I had to pay for the difference anyway.Devin W.

Jessy didn't have his shop open until 20 minutes past my reservation time, at which point he seemed annoyed that I was in a hurry to get the truck. Not once did he apologize for his tardiness and didn't even offer to extend the reservation time to make up for him arriving 20 minutes late.Ryan G.

This location took four days after I returned the vehicle to officially "check it in," which meant that every day for three days, I received a call from someone at Uhaul telling me my equipment was overdue. When I dropped off the vehicle and asked about a receipt, they told me that wasn't necessary, but that would have been nice to have because the way it played out, it felt like I was being accused of stealing a truck. That alone would have been stressful enough, but then when I did receive a receipt (4-5 days after dropping off the vehicle), there was an extra $89 charge on there. I called to ask what this was from, and they just said they'd take care of it and hung up. As of now, the extra charge has not been resolved.Alyssa S.

On the day before our scheduled pick up, we were rerouted to a location on South Shore Drive, which would have been a 3 hour round trip drive - nowhere near the original pick up location in Evanston. We cancelled that reservation and with the help of a uhaul agent found another truck at this location which was closer than South Shore, but still nowhere near Evanston. In heavy traffic, it was a 90 minute round trip drive. With the increase in demand for one way rentals, Uhaul should reassess their current business model as we were hugely inconvenienced with this last minute change of pick up location. Not to mention the fact that we had a contract for a 15' truck and the only one available when we arrived was a 10' truck - again a huge inconvenience. Very disappointed with Uhaul this time.Andrew W.

When asked where the reserved dolly was, I was advised they didn't one and sent me to another location across Chicago that did not have one either. Worst experience ever with Uhaul.Stephen B.

Due to a technical glitch, I had to wait over an hour to get to the point where I could pick up keys....and then had to wait another 30 minutes because the location was unexpectedly closed! It was 9.1, so you would anticipate that would be a high traffic day for uhaul folk. While I waited (once I connected with customer service, they helped, but it took 3 tries via the app for real help), three separate groups of people tried to get into the store for uhaul and ended up giving up. Overall I had a pretty terrible experience.Sarah M.
