I needed to extend my latest rental. I kept calling the location where I rented the van from. I left continuous messages with my phone number to contact me. Finally, the day of or before I dropped off the van. I stopped to fill the van up with gas. At the gas pump, a man rushed me. Jumped in front of me and stated he was taking the van. Proceed to state the van was reported "stolen". I looked at him with dismay and told him I was trying to call the location for days with no response. He even said he was following me from the pizza restaurant I stopped at to pick up food from. The police were called, I explained the situation and the van was re-rented overnight. I was a bit taken back. My hand was scratched by the man rushing me and I thought I was fighting to save the rental van. I thought the whole situation was totally unprofessional and would not recommend this location to anyone.

Would not use this location. Proprietor was closed when I went to pick up my reserved truck- did not respond to phone calls- left no instructions. Had to call national number to finally get access to a truck. Wasted an hour of my time. Rent from Essex or Groton location.

My initial reservation changed locations further away from my moving route. The truck's battery needed to be replaced (I had to get it jumped twice, the second time it died was after five minutes stopped and off while pumping gas). I had to fill extra gas just to make sure I could leave the truck running while loading/unloading so it wouldn't die again. The drop off location was in a dark location on a busy road and I didn't have much room to park. I could handle it, but it was all unnecessarily added stress to an already stressful day that caused me to waste time and spend more money than anticipated. The man running the shop (I didn't catch his name) was solid and helped me get on the road quickly when I picked up. Shop office was a mess, but I get it, they're mechanics first and foremost so all is well. Honestly, the battery issue exacerbates the otherwise mundane issues of reservation locale and parking. I feel like I shouldn't be paying for a truck that I have to jump start multiple times.

The U-Haul truck was broke down in my driveway for 3 days with a dead battery. I tried to call the place to no avail. I used my triple a to get this issues resolved.

Almost no parking for customers. They charged insurance that I declined and then up-charged when I returned it by $11 with out notifying us. No one was there for pick up or drop off. Nasty notes were written on the door demanding refunds form customers.

The mobile phone part of the process was buggy, slow and complicated, especially with an older phone (iPhone6) that couldn't take photos when connected to the UHaul site. I will not use that rental feature again.

This was a tough place to park. All the spaces were taken, so we had to stop in the road and ask them to make some space for the truck. We had to drive around town three times before it was clear to pull the truck in. Then we had to make an account and take pictures of the return. It took me about 20 mins to figure that out. The return was harder and longer than the pick up.

U-Haul reps were professional, courteous, and accommodating. 15' truck was clean inside and out and easy to drive. Description and interior box measurements were accurate. Gauge gas estimates were also accurate. I am short, so it was a big step into and out of the cab. Not being used to such a big step, I found myself grabbing on to the door to avoid a fall. Running boards or at least warning stickers would be a good addition. A backup camera would also be a nice addition for solo drivers.

I did not receive a confirmation call the night before as was indicated on the paperwork of the confirmation from the online reservation. All in all it was our first time and van was clean and well maintained. Easy pick up and drop off and staff cordial.

Clean vehicle before renting it to a customer. Pet hair on the seats as well as dirt and sand in the cargo area is unacceptable. Windshield filthy and covered with bugs! Service location should be open and available for check in and return of vehicle. I was very disappointed with the rental process although mechanically the van was fine.

It had been raining quite often recently in this region, so the van was a bit dirty as a consequence. Not a big problem, just an FYI, overall good experience.

Staff was friendly and helpful, but it took a very long time for the owner to print the agreement, and as it was Christmas Eve we were short on time. The truck itself was mildewy and needed to be cleaned once we got it home to load.

The people at this location that assisted me were extremely helpful and friendly. Although it's not the mot eye pleasing location, they seemed to be honest and fair. Upon return they took the keys and checked me back in as returned. The final bill appears to be accurate.

Niantic River Transmission was fine. The U-Haul system charged me two full days for a 3 hour rental. The owner attempted all avenues to fix the problem while I was standing there. They said they would try and fix it the following day, as my rental was after U-Haul corporate business hours. I fully believe they did. I was charged an exorbitant rate ($76) for a lousy 3 hours. If you folks actually read these, I believe a partial refund is in order. Again, Niantic River did need seem to be the issue but rather the U-Haul system.

Great that is it local but there are no people around to check in or return. Return online was horrible with it not allowing pictures in the camera roll and wanted new ones which we could not due since all was dropped off.

Explain the glitch beforehand in entering the mileage upon returning the truck. The app kept saying the ending mileage was lower than it started which was impossible. Three hours after physically returning the truck but being unable to complete it on the app, and after calling several numbers and being transferred and disconnected several times we were told we needed to add a random "0" into the mileage. Who would know that? So for two days we had no idea if we were going to be overcharged or if they thought it wasn't returned. We were given two local numbers and no one ever answered and there was no option to leave a voicemail. Extremely stressful on top of the stress that already comes with moving!

The mobile check in process was terrible. I had to repeat submission for my license, could have provided the backup person's information at reservation had I known that was necessary, and overall it was a pain in the ass because much of the information could have been set up in advance when I made the reservation. Very slow and ate into the time I needed to move things. In addition, I reserved the truck for 6 hours and ended up having to push my reservation time back, but was not given the 6 hour window needed. By the end of the check in process, I had 2 1/2 hours before I had to bring it back. It was appalling and I'm incredibly disappointed in the overall experience, especially for what I paid. I will not be a repeat customer.

I initially was concerned because of the business not being open. i was assured by your representative on the Uhaul Help Line that using a smart phone all would go well. That information was correct. It was called a self dispatch. All went without a hitch. your web site for this event, including the return, worked perfectly. I thank you for your good equipment and efficient delivery process.
