This was not the location given to me by Uhaul to drop off. I only dropped it off here when the location down the road (Citgo Gas Station, 5956 W Main St, Salem, VA) would not allow me to drop it at that location (where Uhaul told me to drop it). I dropped it at the Salem Mini Mart location on Sunday, 22 Aug and today, 1 Sept, I received a bill for over $200 saying I dropped it off today. I was told I would receive a discount from the original rental charge for this inconvenience but I have yet to see anything.Travis R.

I and planned to drop off in Blacksburg VA but received a text asking to drop off in Salem VA for a discount of $100 from my bill. On 20 Aug, when I got to the Main St Salem UHaul they did not recognize my contract number in the system and knew nothing of the promised discount. It took another 30 minute phone call to get them to process the discount on Monday.Craig A.

They never even offered to print the contract and when I asked if they could, they said they couldn't even print my contract! I had to hookup my truck to the trailer on my own, with ZERO assistance. Truck was dirty in the cab like I've never seen before. Customer service rep acted completely annoyed. I will never go back here.Christopher D.

This is like my 7th or 8th time renting in the past 2 years. All good until this time. I had 2 issues. First the rental process. The mini mart person said I had to reserve on line, they could not enter the rental for me. That's normally how I do it so not too big of a inconvenience until the app would not let me enter the same place to return it. So the rate was charging me the one way rate about twice the amount. So the person at the desk said they couldn't fix it and told me to call Customer service. I called right after the rental and they couldn't do anything and said to try on Monday but made a note on my reservation. I tried 3 different times on Monday. One person did change the return to the same place and said the return person would fix the rate when I checked in. The other 2 passed me on to someone else. One actually said she was the Nolfork Va person and couldn't help me because I was in Roanoke area, didn't even offer me a new number to call. So when I returned it I told the agent what customer service said. But he said He couldn't change the rate and confirmed it was charging me $98. Then told me to me to call customer service to have it adjusted. So I did. I was frustrated by this time and the agent was a little snippy back to me as I tried to walk her through the events. At the end she did confirm that I should only be charged the local rate. I still need to confirm this. On top of this, the trailer that I rented had been previously patched but the patch was leaking again. Fortunately it poured while we were loading it and we noticed, otherwise our bedding and furniture would have been wet the next morning. We were able to put plastic over it and bucket under it to avoid any issues overnight and the next day it didn't rain before we got it unloaded. I reported the leak when I returned the trailer.Robert T.

One rep told use where to drop the trailer and after we unhitched and went back in we were told by another rep to move the trailer which required us to rehitch then move the trailer. Other than that it is a good location for drop off.Robert V.

More staff to help with cleaning the trucks upon return. The lady was very friendly and was grateful we had swept the truck and folded the felts, but a washing for those would still be needed, however not sure you would have the staff available to handle the volume of trucks!DELAYNEW C.

your customer service reps on line /phone were very nice. But I received conflicting info. One rep guaranteed me a pick up site for later in the week. The day before pickup if I hadn't called to confirm I would have gone to the site and found NOTHING AVAILABLE FOR ME. No excuse for this. Do not promise something you cannot deliver. I had to hurriedly go back to your customer service and arrange another pick up site and time. Once there I was told by man behind the counter that UHAUL had been experiencing problems for quite some time with wrong pickup times and no available trucks. He told me to grab my truck and go before someone else comes in to get it. Sounds like UHAUL has numerous issues. If any other truck rental is available in the past I will choose them ..UHAUL has left a terrible taste in my mouth. PLUS the rep on the phone promised me .70 cents a mile and I ended up paying .79 a mile...DO NOT RECOMMEND UHAU; AT A ALLBarry J.

We booked for a location in Blacksburg and we're not told at booking that the location would have to be Salem because the Blacksburg location didn't rent one-way rentals. FAIL. The app said we would be called by 6 the night before to confirm. We were not called and could not reach anyone at the location or the 800 number. FAIL. The Blacksburg location finally responded to my text at 10 the morning of the pickup to confirm the change and he told me he hasn't had one way rentals for years! The pickup was for 11 and we were 40 minutes away. FAIL. We had to book for 48 hours - were not given a choice on the app for anything shorter. We needed the truck for one day. We returned it the Moring after we picked it up and we're told we could not get a refund for the unused day. FAIL!Ronni J.

I was very upset to find out we could not pick up the vehicle from the location on my confirmation the day before pickup and was told to pick it up 89 miles away. That was not acceptable since I lived an additional 3 1/2 hours away. So I was on hold and finally had a representative to assist me very professional after a long hold and I called back. I had used uhaul before several times but this was the first trouble then the vehicle tires were flat and some very worn out.Jerry B.

I was a little concerned that they couldn't absolutely guarantee the truck would be there as it was dependent on the current renter returning it on time. The truck was there in time, clean and in very good condition. The folks at Salem Minimart got me on the road quickly and everything worked out great. Would definitely rent here again.Jerome S.
Pick up and drop off was good. The ordering from uhaul its self was bad. Different prices? From the time I ordered to the time I pick up truck, the price went up $90.00. very unorganized. The equipment was dirty and unwashed. They offered no assistance moving the truck and/or guidance while connecting the trailer. The truck had a severely out of alignment front end and a nearly bald front right tire. It vibrated the entire trip and limited my speed to around 60 mph to avoid an unsafe front end/steering wobble.Thomas R.

I picked up a tow dolly from here. The attendant wouldn't help attach the dolly or give any directions, despite me being a lone woman who could barely pick it up. Later, when trying to get the car on, I discovered that the straps were done incorrectly so they were near impossible to remove. It took a solid hour to get them undone with the help of two lovely apartment maintenance people. I have no doubts that this terrible Uhaul location was aware of the issue when they gave us the equiemt, because the straps were visibly wrong.Rachel Y.

Initial contact at site was not helpful, finally found someone who was, took at while to find the connection to hook up the lights for the trailer. Since I had booked everything in advance this should have been checked and ready to go. Also I had pre-booked packing blankets which were not available. What's the point of pre-booking if you are not going to provide necessary items?Jena H.

The trailer I rented was in good shape except for the lights and the electrical hook up. I had to drive with no lights to a Northern Tool store and buy a four prong male and female hook up and splices to splice together the two ends.($12.61) Then when hooked up I had lights that worked except for brake lights and left turn signal. I asked the man at the uhaul rental if he had a hook up and he looked around and then looked at me like I was supposed to have one on me. When returning there was a nice Lady who took care of the return who did seem knowledgeable.Carey W.
