** The place was SO HOT and no AC for the staff - i felt bad for them working in the hot office with only a fa. only negative was when I called I was told there were no furniture/utility dollys left though I had pre booked them on 6.11.26 ....I told them i couldn't move without them but was again told there were none just the truck ....... in the end we waited around until some were returned later by other customers.
Mary RYour software and hardware need updating.was unsuccessful multiple times to check in through the app. Also changed from 15 to 20 foot. “No problem” only to arrive on pickup to be told the 20’ wasn’t available. Ashley the GM gave us a 26’ without extra charge but it was more to manage and higher gas charges. It seems the app and system are all dependent on one global system that gets bogged down creating frustration not only for customers but your employees who are just trying to get things done. If I could have checked in on the app it would have saved a lot of time and frustration for us and your employees
Carol SWait line was quite excessive but I understand it was in the a.m. when most people pick up. Should have A/C for your workers it was smokin hot. Overall great experience. Thank you.
Philip BGreat location and easy drop-off procedures. Hard to change, but because of the location on King St, it can be difficult to get the 26' truck and toy hauler into the lot.

Leslie GThey were helpful and the customer service was good. I was disappointed that the both tires on the trailer were badly worn on the outer part of the tire. I should have checked it better before I left and did not notice it until we stopped in Columbia, SC for dinner. This made the last part of the drive stressful since we weren't sure if both tires would hold for the remainder of the trip. I told the agent in Simpsonville about it and she immediately tagged it for repair. Everything else of the trailer functioned as it should.

Mark RYour fees are completely non transparent and predatory. You sell the truck as costing $49 per 24 hours of use and then at completion I pay $190. It is predatory marketing and you know it.
Matthew JLong pickup time. Had NO IDEA with sooo many signs inside and outside the vehicle that renters are supposed to refold blankets? That is an absurd rule and $25. fine.

John PMy unit flooded and it was such a hassle to get a claim through their insurance that only covered $1,000 of my losses. My late mother's heirloom wedding dress was ruined in the flood. On top of my unit flooding there were mice and rats in my storage unit. A disappointing experience to say the least.

Initially I was given the wrong truck. The correct truck was given to me on empty gas tank. I was given another truck. No instructions were given to me at all especially about getting a text to access my phone camera to take photos of the truck. Witnessed an elderly customer leaving the office only to fall right outside the entrance door on account a cart was blocking half the doorway. Absolute terrible customer service and worse experience I have had with U Haul in the years I have used the service.

Ashley DThe drop-off procedure is very poorly explained. There were several parties dropping off vehicles before 7pm with no staff present, and a backlog of trucks under the canopy. I had a trailer, and there were no instructions on where to put it. If I dropped it under the canopy, it would have rolled towards the road which I tried. So I squeezed past several large trucks double-parked and dropped the trailer in a row of other trailers, hoping it would suffice. Instructions need to be created and put out besides “return under canopy” when there isn’t enough space under the canopy. I would not use this location again, there’s no space.

Tomas DI appreciate that customer service is a critical element in any successful business, and I’ve always relied on U-Haul for my rental needs. However, I find myself in a challenging situation regarding the customer service I recently experienced, particularly with management. After renting equipment, I encountered some difficulties and attempted to reach out for assistance within two hours of my rental. I called the provided number, eight four tree seven two thre sisting zero five, and left multiple messages—over six in total—yet regrettably, I did not receive any response. This lack of communication was quite concerning. I was hoping to explain my situation in person, but faced a significant challenge traveling back to the location, which took me close to seven hours due to the slow speeds I had to maintain. As a long-time and loyal U-Haul customer, I have always appreciated the service in the past, and this experience has left me feeling disappointed. The responses I received suggested that because I had used the trailer, it could not be returned, which was not the assistance I was seeking. Given that the location closed at 5 PM on a Sunday, I felt stranded and in need of help. I understand that the home office made efforts to assist, but the focus seemed to be primarily on the rental process. It raises questions about what "help" truly means in today’s business climate. My loyalty to U-Haul has always been strong, and I hope this feedback reflects my desire for a mutual understanding. I spent a considerable amount of time in a difficult situation, and I genuinely hope my concerns can contribute to improving customer satisfaction moving forward. I believe appropriate accommodations and a thoughtful approach to customer needs are essential in maintaining the strong relationships U-Haul has cultivated over the years. Ralph Pthe last two times I have rented from there. The older woman is very cranky, I try not to get her, I know she is doing her job. I like the new gm she is nice. The last two trucks I have gotten the trucks mirrors didn't work, the gas cap was gone and there was a hole in the truck that got all my stuff wet?! They young man at receiving is so nice he took care of me, and overall I like going there, but we need to do better. Especially if a customer like myself who spent almost 800 in one month with your location. Thank you

Scott HI reserved a 26 foot truck. I was told to pick it up at 10 am. I got there no truck. I was told I'd have to wait a day or two. I had people flying in that day to move items to Maine. It had to leave that day. Had to take a 20 ft which did not hold everything. Rented z trlr to pull behind at last minute which had a flat tire. It was a disaster rental. Very expensive since I now have to rent another truck to get the rest of the equipment to Maine. Don't take a reservation if you don't have the equipment. Call the customer ... they should not find out after the fact

John SWhen I went to my first location they didn’t have a truck even though I had a reservation. They made me a reservation at the king location but only two hours not the six I originally needed. Then as I was leaving the dorchester location I saw two of the truck I had a reservation. I went back in to save time driving and added miles and they told me too bad wait back in line and hope someone before doesn’t rent them. I had to go to the king location which was additional twenty minute drive for my move. I had to wait in line for about an hour due to the computer system being down. I would like to be compensated the 50 dollars since the truck was not available for my reservation like stated.

Where the unit was located, it seemed to be the break area for the employees to either smoke cigarettes or smoke joints. Therefore, the smell went into the items that we had stored in the unit. The staff made countless billing errors and the amount of time spent to correct this both on the phone and in person was painful to say the least. I made a reservation three months in advance and when we arrived, they said they did not have the unit but they were happy to place us in a different one and charge us $60 more a month! Seriously that’s your solution. My daughter is in her junior year at the college of Charleston. I told her if she needs another unit for this coming summer, I would rather drive out of town to work with better staff then go back to this location again. I’m not one to write bad reviews like this, but you guys have to know how terrible this location has consistently been for the last two years that I have worked with them.

The ceiling area in the storage facility needs some work as it appears to have had a lot of leaking issues for a long time. They do their best to clean it and deal with the leaks. One of the men that works with the trucks, coming and going , always made himself available to help me carry, lift, and place items in my vehicle. I never had to ask and he always made himself available. He was particularly polite, professional, helpful and kind.

I had to go to two different U-Haul facilities just to get a truck and a hitch for my car. But when I got to Charleston I met Mike. He works at the King Street U-Haul facility. He was very instrumental in making the rest of my move smooth. My daughter nickname him Magic Mike. People like Magic Mike Elijah and TJ are hard to come by.

This is a busy office but I received excellent service as if I was the only customer present. I have been waiting for the opportunity to note the amazing service delivered by Latosha (excuse misspelling). After a 13 hour drive to King st and a 13 hour return home planned the next day, I hoped for anything to make unpacking the unit and packing the trailer easier. Latosha did everything to make it easier! I pulled out of the parking lot thrilled because we were in and out so much quicker (and easier )than anticipated. Thank you!

I got a U-Haul from another dealer and when I pulled up at King street with my first load to store, one of the young men noticed the trailer wasn’t hitched properly. He corrected the issue. Just out of curiosity, if the storage area were flooded and stayed flooded for 6 months straight, would you still charge rent for those six months during which our items were under water? I will not be back and neither will anyone that I speak with.
Jesse Z | Overall ExperienceThere need to be trash cans more centrally located within the Uhaul storage area itself, the fact that we had to walk all the way around the entire building to get to the dumpster was extremely time consuming and ill-efficient. Clearly others feel the same way because there was constantly trash strewn through out the corridors. There is always a super long line in the customer service area and oftentimes associates who are unwilling and uninterested in helping whatsoever. On several occasions we had issues with Carol, who was not only demeaning, and apathetic but has the customer service ability of a dirty diaper. Sadly enough, she is the Manager or Owner!! As the highest on payroll she deserves a severe demotion and someone else needs to run that place. The only thing this place has going for it is its location and proximity to downtown. That and theres a young man who works there named TJ who is the diamond in the rough at that place. He works mostly outside, in the heat, helping to return and clean out the Uhauls. Our interaction with him was the only positive experience we can glean from patronizing with this Uhaul. He deserves a raise and a promotion for maintaining a positive attitude, being helpful, dilligent, willing to go above and beyond for the customer, all amidst clearly poor conditions and management that he has to work with. I hope his spirit doesnt get broken by the terrible attitudes of his colleagues and I hope UHAUL as a company regonizes his hard work and enacts stricter guidelines for the rude "managment" and "Customer service" agent you all have employed there.
