Jimmy NThe U-Haul center at 6235 County Rd 16A is by far the busiest location I have ever visited. It is clear that the facility is dealing with a massive volume of customers, and the current staffing levels seem stretched to the limit. Despite long lines and extended wait times, you can tell the employees are working incredibly hard and doing their absolute best to manage the rush. They would benefit tremendously from having more team members onboard to handle the sheer demand. That being said, Ms. Amber was a absolute godsend during a very hectic day. She was incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful, going well above and beyond to ensure I was taken care of. Her exceptional service was actually the pivotal factor in my decision to rent a storage unit here; without her guidance and reassurances, the chaotic environment would have driven me to look elsewhere. Amber truly stands out, and I hope management formally recognizes her for her outstanding dedication. If you hire more personnel for this location, they should absolutely be modeled after her. I also want to mention that Alex, the store manager, was great as well. Kudos to this team for keeping things moving under high pressure!

Ricardo CThis UHaul location is brand new and very conveniently located in the Silverleaf/Mill Creek area of St. Augustine, Route 16A. We visited this location twice to inquire about a truck rental for moving household items, golf cart, etc. Both times we dealt with young men at the desk. On the first visit, although somewhat helpful, the employee had limited interest in helping us, told us to check on-line for more information. On the second visit, the young man (not sure if it was the same person) told us that they don't rent trucks with two ramps for golf carts, we explained we can get the two ramps on our own and needed to understand sizing, he shrugged his shoulders at us then tossed a booklet at us to look up details ourselves. Miserable in his job, apparently. Fortunately, we then worked with a very pleasant and helpful young lady, Sidney, who showed us truck options and answered all of our questions. I also had a nice conversation on the phone with Morgan, the store manager, to confirm all of the details before we came in for the rental. When we came to pick up our reserved 20' truck, we were given the worst on the lot. Our rental had 137K miles, cab seats and dash had not been wiped down in months, the cab stunk of rampant body odor. We had to disinfect the cab in order to endure several hours of driving and be able to breathe somewhat fresh air. One of the a/c vents was broken, the windshield wipers were worn and did not keep the windshield clear while we drove in the rain, the truck box leaked water by the back door and got our items wet in that area, the fuel gauge (reading 1/4 at time of rental) never moved past 1/2 even though we put in $40 in gas on departure and $42 in gas on our return trip. The truck was very rough riding and extremely loud; transmission slipped on occasion. Beware the extra daily charge to use a dolly and moving blankets...not a one time charge, but daily for the amount of days you rent. This was not explained to us when we took out the rental. When we returned the truck, Sidney was apologetic about the condition and said it is due for maintenance in the next month. Why would this brand new UHaul location rent out a vehicle in such poor condition??? Our total 3 day trip rental, not including the gas we purchased, was $461.

Upon arrival, I was told they had “run out of dollies.” The trailer was damaged, with a large scratch on the driver’s side. When I asked for a different truck, I was told they didn’t have any.

Len WI can't believe how bad this place is. The problem is that it's the only location with a pick up. I reserved the pick up for last Saturday and when I arrived to pick it up, I was told first that it wasn't available even though I had a reservation. The reason was because it smelled like Marijuana so badly. Then, I was told that wasn't the reason and the actual reason was that they were selling the truck. WHAT? Again, it was reserved for a week. They had to get permission to give me the keys from a manager and it took 45 minutes to get someone to answer. Then I was told that I had some kind of block on renting, but when I tried calling the number they gave me, there was a 1 hour and 8 minute wait to speak to someone. WOW! Unbelievable. Regardless, the manager was able to get in to the system to see what the problem was and it turned out I owed $21 from something they tacked on to a previous rental. I paid it and took the pick up home. It was so loud starting and it smelled of Marijuana so badly that I had to drive with the windows down the whole time. An unbelievably bad experience from start to finish again.

Kini BIn a time where identity fraud is a very real threat to everyone, I found it very unsettling that the associate used his personal phone to take pictures of my drivers license. I cannot for the life of me think of how that is appropriate or that uhaul would be OK with this. Also, there was a short in the trailer wiring, which drained the battery in my car overnight, forcing me to pay for someone to come in jump my battery. Not a good show for this location, I expected better.

Jeff WArrived on Sunday morning. Big line of trucks in the lot. I had a trailer and no idea where to put it. Went in office and was told to take it all the way to the back of the lot and drop it with the others. Asked if they needed to check it it and they said they would do it later. Happened to look at the UHaul app on Tuesday and the rental was still open and marked late. Had to call to get it sorted out because they never checked it in.
JOHN MAfter U-Haul failed to provide the equipment we reserved—they gave us a 26' truck instead of a 10' truck—we were no longer able to conduct our move as we'd planned. For starters, we picked up the vehicle in a town twenty miles from our move's starting point, and only then did we discover that U-Haul had that very morning switched us (for the second time) from a 10' truck to a 26' truck. We then had to maneuver this 26' truck into a tiny apartment building parking lot, spend an inordinate amount fuel on a vehicle well in excess of what we needed, and then park the thing on a small dead-end residential street, which we blocked during the entire unload process. As the coup de grace, because the truck was SO BIG (which we DID NOT REQUEST), we had to return this 26' truck the same night—I'm talking 9:30 p.m.—to this wretched unattended U-Haul facility sixteen miles away, even though there is a facility only five miles away, most likely because the vehicle was TOO BIG for the smaller and closer locations. U-Haul does not honor its promises and puts customers in the most inconvenient positions for its own bottom line. Would not recommend. Ever. Not this location, not any location.

Chris MThe uhaul was almost on empty, gas light came on on the way to my house. I've never rented a moving vehicle that wasn't completely full. Quite inconvenient and annoying. Additionally the vehicle was not moved to the awning to prepare for customer pickup. It was parked a distance away and not backed in to make an easy exit.
Connie JThe facility itself was clean and convenient, and the rental process was straightforward. However, my experience with the representative who assisted me was disappointing. He came across as irritated and disengaged, as though my questions were an inconvenience. During the interaction, he continued drinking a Red Bull while helping me, which felt unprofessional and made me feel less like a valued customer and more like I was interrupting his day. I don’t expect over-the-top service, but basic attentiveness and professionalism go a long way in shaping the customer experience. The location was fine overall, so was the truck/trailer, but the interaction with the employee left a negative impression.
