When renting my Uhaul for a one way trip the person I was dealing with in Newport messed up my license with another Martin lady as well as phone number and address. Then they put me down for 4 even though I needed two. They then booked me to pick it up but didn’t have it till about 3 hours later and they couldn’t seem to tell me if they had storage units open so I had to book it online.

Ralph CThe manager at this location is very unprofessional. Between cursing and sarcastically talking to his employees, he avoided dealing with any customers and continued to push the customers to a singular worker, despite the fact he was manning the desk. He then proceeded to pull a large bundle of rope out, and pretended to hit the worker that was processing my reservation. There was an issue with my reservation, so it was unnecessary and distracting. He said he had found it in the back of a returned rental and asked if she had any use for it, which then turned the conversation into a sexual nature. I am all for a fun work environment, but this was uncomfortable to watch, especially when I needed help resolving a pricing issue. I called the generic U-Haul customer service the day prior to my reservation and they told me the local location could apply my military or AAA discount at the location. The Newport, RI location said they couldn't do anything. I ended up having the call the U-Haul customer service center, where I was told this issue could have been resolved at the local location. While I was on hold, the manager didn't once ask what the issue was, but instead asked the worker what he should eat for lunch. I then asked if the rental came with a lock, it didn't so I purchased a lock from the store...it didn't fit the truck.

If I had initially requested 8 hours my cost would have been the same as for the 6 hours. I am not happy with this service. Ide like to request a refund for the additional charge

William SWasn't happy with this trans action this time the truck was horrible to the point I thought it was going to break down. Soon as I drove off the gas gauage changed so it wasn't at the mark they showed me also I order a appliance dolly they gave me a utility dolly. At this point because I wasn't happy about the truck. No I wouldn't recommend it to a friend I would tell then first to drive the truck and make sure you have what you asked and apid for in the truck.

They also tried to charge my card for 100 miles a day .. It was sitting in the parking lot with no mileage.. They wanted the truck back to rent it out !!! Appallingly!!!!

Cynthia mThere is no lighting or electrical outlet in my unit and it's extremely difficult to organize my stuff in the dark.Really a hassle and pretty disappointing since I need the extra space to get organize. It also appears that there was water damage in the unit at some point. I hope that this isn't an ongoing problem. The employee who I dealt with just prior to renting the unit (when I needed a truck) was helpful. However, the key I received with the contract didn't work in the truck. The ID number on the contract matched the truck as did the license plate, but the key went to a different truck which is the one I ultimately used. To be clear, the contract didn't match the truck I drove, which seems like a liability for all parties. Also, I realized a couple of days later that I left a bag of painting supplies in the truck. When I called and explained that I was looking for my belongings, the person on the phone didn't miss a beat when he said that no one had turned it in. I had barely gotten the words out when he gave his absolute answer of "no." He didn't say that he would look or anything helpful: he just kept repeating that the bag wasn't there. I didn't find him credible, and his lack of concern for my inquiry was a great example of poor customer service. I have always worked in fields that required interacting with customers and I was really disappointed with the way he handled the situation. I went in to speak with someone about my missing bag, and spoke with another employee, JT, who was quite helpful. He said he had indeed found my bag and he proceeded to pull it out from under the workstation. I told him who I spoke to and he told me that it was the manager. Unbelievable. I'm grateful to JT for his honesty and attentiveness. He had even attempted calling customers who had previously rented the truck until he got too busy and was unable to call more customers. Maybe some remedial customer service training is in order for the manager in question.

I have been spending thousands of dollars annually at the 111 JT Connell HWY location for 2 decades. Some of the staff are degenerates, underpaid, unmotivated, unpleasant and unprofessional. And a couple others have to work twice as hard to make up for the slackers and only paid peanuts. Hire better staff and THAT facility will do MUCH better, trust me! I also HATE things: the excessive, documents, emails, calls and texts for a simple storage bill, WAY TOO MUCH notification. U-Haul is NOT my life’s priority!

When we moved out of the Uhaul facility, (we also rented a van from Uhaul on 9/5 to move her belongings) I inquired about receiving a pro-rated bill as we left 5 days into the billing cycle. I was informed that Uhaul doesn’t pro-rate. I find this very disappointing and it will be a consideration the next time I’m looking for a facility to rent storage space or van/truck.

When I reserved I was told I had a ground floor unit. when I got to the place on move in day I was told no ground floor units available of the size I wanted, that's not cool. When I asked about a bigger unit ground floor I was told there were none. I moved into a second floor unit, no elevator, I wasn't told there was no elevator when they told me I couldn't be on the ground floor. After loading in I decided to look around I found a unit on the first floor vacant. I went and inquired at the desk and lo and behold I got it for about 10 bucks a month more than I was already paying. The whole bait and switch scam stinks. The system for getting into the lockers is antiquated and wasn't well explained. They shouldd have a picture of the entrance way and expain to you with visuals how you get in; because the desk guy was totally unclear. You have to pay extra for 24hour access, which again is just another bogus upsell. I only need the space short term and the storage location is near me or I'd have gone else where. However, yes the staff guy who checked me was friendly which is the only reason I didn''t grade this place beyond poor. Oh, and one last thing, they have sent me four emails and two texts bugging me to review them. I wanted to just let it go but they wouldn't let me. so sorry folks here's your review, your place is not good.
