Do not trust this place any more, They charge me for extra mile and also I did fill up gas as per mark still they charge me for gas also. no more rental from this place..

The store and the people were good. The problem is this is NOT the location I confirmed in my rental reservation. It was 40 minutes from my house, and the on I confirmed was 5 minutes from my house. Oh, and the trailer I wanted appeared to be there! I must have passed at least 5 uhaul locations much closer. You should have transported the equipment to the correct location, not force me to drive 40 minutes one way to get it. You had plenty of time! To be clear, this is not the fault of the people or facilities at the location I was forced to use.

Robert DI made a reservation online using the app for a move-in date of 4/6. When I arrived on 4/6 with all of my stuff the guy could not find my reservation....not with my name, my reservation number or my phone number. Weird huh? It looks like maybe the reservation means nothing and they just book over confirmed units. The person who helped me on Saturday 4/6 was rude and not helpful. He just told me I need to speak to the manager Jessica. I spoke to her today but no discount or free month was offered (I already had a free month coupon I brought with me to use). Then, when I got to my unit I noticed it is WAY too small. The 5x10x8 DEFINATELY will not fit a 1-2 bedroom house - lol! So now, I have to get a bigger unit, pay more money, and move all of my things into the new unit. What a waste of time and effort. I am very not pleased with Uhual of Romeoville.

David EAfter returning my U-Haul, I received a phone call the following morning of one of the workers, accusing me/my boyfriend of leaving a black suitcase and a whole bunch of kids toys at their facility. I was adamant and told them I had no idea what they were talking about and that they had the wrong people and he was insistent on saying it was me listing my truck number that was rented to me that he stated was my truck and my truck only had that number but apparently after having to get my boyfriend on the phone and talk with this guy even more, he went back, I don’t know what he looked at if he looked at cameras or what but he came back and told us that he owed us an apology because it wasn’t us. But that’s not the worst of it all. I wake up again this morning to a missed phone call from this place again before 8 AM with no voicemail left, and when called back, they had no reason as to why they called me. Seems like harassment to me at this point, and with yesterday‘s phone conversation of him being so consistent with telling me that it was my fault and he was going to charge me a garbage fee when I was so so adamant about it and I said go ahead charge me because I’ll just go to my credit card company and get the money back. I’m not sure if they tried calling me this morning to tell me to give them a review or if they actually had another concern, but I figured I should type this review out. Oh, and come to find out when the guy came back he said that there was two trucks with the same numbers. I said I’m sorry when you rented the truck to me, you said that there was no such thing as more than one truck having the same number, so what!? I also consistently told him to go back and check his cameras and see that it is actually me a woman on their cameras with the suitcase and kids toys because we did not. Also, he was saying how we were unloading the truck with our ramp down at our storage unit. I told him I’ve never rented a storage unit from you guys before never have never never will, and never will be coming back here again.

The person did not know what he was doing and had me and others customers wait for over a hour and then got my truck and he did not give me the appliance dolly. I ordered and the person did not let us know until we opened the van. Then I had to drive to Romeoville to get a Truck and dolly. What a mess and waste of time. I will never go to Amaco Plainfield or tell anyone to go there

Richard RThe people working there kind of not working… I sat in the dropoff area and stayed with the vehicle as their signage says to do and no one came out. After 5 mins I walked in and 4 people are sitting around scrolling on their phones. I waited quietly standing and nobody picked up their head until I spoke. Also, they open at 7, but not really. Employment shows up at 7ish and it takes them about 15 minutes before they unlock the door. However, the user price is right, they always have what I need at this location and it’s close home. I also find it funny how standing in the facility, no one on the business phone and when I call the locations phone number, the phone doesn’t ring but someone in another state answers.

GERALD HThe facility was good, the system wasn't. I had an auto pay for the storage, Before travelling I stopoed by to make sure the draw was going to take place, I was assured of it. Coming back from my trip I had my messages of late payment. Nevertheless I paid through the app, including the late fees. Sunday I went to close the storage, I talked to the clerk about the closing process. I went to the locker, they had a red lock on it, I had to go back to the office to ask them to remove. My questions are: 1) why the lick wasn't removed after I paid. 2) when I talked to the clerk, how come she didn't see that the lock was there and offered to remove it. 3) If I had cut the lick was I going to be charged?

Chadwick SUnloading service was poor. They dropped boxes and kept heavy boxes on light boxes and even if the boxes were marked to show the way up, they placed it upside down. They did not care about the items. Uhaul office Staff were unable to reach on time.
Arokiaraj ADo not allow customers to make reservations and not honor them. The worst customer experience I have ever experienced. My truck was not at the ROMEOVILLE location nor could I drop off the truck at the location reserved. I was paying movers to sit and wait for the truck to arrive and had to pay for additional gas since we had to return the truck back to Romeovilie instead of the reserved drop off location. The manager did not care to solve the problem she just wrote it off.

KENNETH II used a 12x6 trailer. It work perfect. Zero issues. But when I unhitched the trailer in the parking lot, it kept rolling forward due to the pitch of the parking lot. Employees are forced to use rocks ( as I did) to keep the trailer from rolling. You definitely need wheel chocks for all the trailers at this locations. I mentioned it to an employee and they said U-Haul does not provide them for the location. I think it would be safer than using rocks. This is definitely a safety issue that should be addressed.

We had a 7am reservation no one showed up till 730 and when Chrissy got there she said I'll be right with you and left us standing outside another 10 minutes with no apology what so ever for not opening on time. She offered us a discount on the mileage rate but that was all she would do for our inconvenience. Her attitude and customer service was appalling, she never once smiled and acted like we were a bother. When we returned our truck we waited 10 minutes in the vehicle for someone to come out which is what we were instructed to do and no one came. We went in to the facility and there was no one behind the desk, they were in the office talking. Lamontae finally came out and acknowledged us and took care of the return finally. Chrissy came out of the office irritated with us and said she was talking to him in the office that's why no one was there to wait on us. We did say how displeased we were with the customer service and how Chrissy never apologized for being late and she became very aggressive and started yelling at us and saying how she did say sorry , she was extremely unprofessional yelling at a customer . I am sorry to say we will not ever be using this location again and probably not using U haul services either. We have other choices and we will find places with better cusomer service.

joseph dBooked it well in advance. They tried to cancel booking on me 2 hours before pickup and then backed off when I was unhappy. Showed up and 2 trailers were sitting there in size I ordered. First one was defective so when hooking up second one, staff member’s “baby mama” drove in and started cussing at me and claiming that I was at fault for keeping her man at work. Read me the riot act. He said nothing to her to stop it. Dropped off trailer on Sunday and he was much nicer bc boss was there. Now I’m getting charged an extra day of rental when I returned trailer on time. Would not recommend this location!

I paid the additional month’s rent but This caused uhaul to lose my business when needing to rent a long term storage space after moving into my new home.
Marc R | Overall ExperienceUnits do not have alarms which is why I moved out. I paid for an armed unit and got ripped off for 3 months. The door sensor is installed but not wired up to anything. I told the store manager this when I first noticed it and nothing was done. She told me the units don't have to be individually alarmed because they have cameras. No need to ever use the key card to go in or out of the facility because one, the cards don't arm or unarm anything because the sensor is not hooked up, and two, the front gate is always open. I also told my concern about the front gate to the store manager and nothing was done about this either. I rented a truck for 7 am and no one showed up to open the store until almost 7:30. Then, the truck had ABSOLUTLY NO gas in it. I had to put gas in it before I could even drive it anywhere. I opened a ticket with customer service 2 months ago about these issues and nothing was done so I moved out. I wont be using U-Haul anymore.

I have 2 storage to this facility but I decided to transfer after a month of poor service. Their office always lock even in business hours. You need to call and wait for 10min before the manager opens the door. The guy who cleans the storage is so rude yelling at the customer. He also cover up the manager every time you wait for the door to open. The store also opens late. It's good thing that's there 4 more storage place around the area so we can easily escape to this poor managed storage I'm also putting up a review on yelp to save customer from this storage.

The huge employee told me they would not be able to remove the lock for me and I would need to call a locksmith. I already rented a U-Haul truck and was committed to a 100 mile drive and had to wait 4 hours for a locksmith in 100 degree temps to get me into my storage facility because the man at the office refused to help me and said they no longer remove locks. Turned out to be a miserable 100 degree day. I would never rent from U-Haul again after this. I'm sure he was just not wanting to go out in the heat because of his enormous size.

The customer service is extremely poor at this location & it gets worse when you ask for help. They act like it's a huge burden for them to actually get off their chair to come & help. Instead they get angry with you & you get an attitude instead of help. I'm specifically referring to the young fellow who was working at the desk. It seemed like he was new cause the lady it seemed was training him when we arrived but she wasn't there at the time I asked for help. I don't appreciate getting yelled at for asking for help especially as I'm a paying customer & by the way I don't have a photographic memory. You know the process since you work there & I'm a new customer there & so this was totally unprofessional the way your staff member guy treated us. I'm being kind by rating you 2 stars because I really want to rate you 0 stars. I hope this can be a learning experience for the young fellow who was reluctant to help & showed a lack of customer service skills.

Pretty much every time we came to our unit, we'd have to go into the office as our gate entry code would stop working. Even if we visited multiple times per weekend, it didn't seem to matter. The staff did their best to help but this was very frustrating. The last few truck rentals we had were also a challenge. We arrived for our reservation but the office was empty and no one was answering the phone. We waited 30 minutes before someone was finally able to assist us. We cleaned out our storage unit on 2/2, but I was still sent a bill with a late fee on 2/22. We had informed the office three separate times that our unit had been cleared, well before the next payment was due. I had to spend another half hour on the phone with customer service trying to resolve the situation. Overall, we appreciated the staff and their efforts but will probably not use this location again.

Anything fabric has a mildew smell and I had to remove mold from several pieces of furniture. I would hate to have lost everything if I had to keep it in there longer. Not sure this is normal or not for storage. But it did add extra hassle, work, time and money onto our move that I wasn't expecting. Were still washing laundry and cloths that smell of mildew from the storage unit....a week later. Staff was amazing from start to finish.
