My rental was reserved for 10a.m. I arrived at 9:45. There were 6 people in line ahead of me. One person frantically working the desk. The wait was long. He was busier than a one arm paper hanger. After sometime another person came in and took over duties at the desk. The chap that was working behind the desk went outside to pull up rental trucks and get them warmed up. Still standing in line to get my rental van, the former desk chap came inside and said who owns the Cadillac? I responded I do. He then proceeded to accuse me of trying to "hide my car" amongst "his trucks" . "I think you're trying to hide your car" He got right in my face in an accusatory manner. "You're trying to hide your car" 1st of all How do you hide a Cadillac sedan. 2cnd of all Why would I try to hide my car. I haven't been in that uhaul facility in years so one of my questions when and if I ever got to the counter was where he recommended I park my car while I used the rental van. After another 45 minutes I finally got to the counter. Not a good start. Almost two hours waiting, the computer kept going offline. I explained to the man at the desk what the previous chap said...he shrugged his shoulders. I moved my car across the street I never signed a contract. It was sent to me at the end of the day, when I returned the van. When I went to leave with the van the windshield was covered in ice. I took pictures , look them up. I have insurance, I was charged 25 Extra dollars for uhaul insurance because I didn't know my policy number....nice trick uhaul. Had I known previously I would of brought my policy with me. Again computers still going offline. Rental was 19.95 What is the 99.00 dollar charge? I put I gas in it before I brought it back. More than was in it previously. I took pictures of that also. What was the gas charge? Nothing was explained except don't put anything on the wheel wells or drag anything over the floor of the van. I will never use uhaul again. I will not recommend uhaul to family or friends or anyone I work with. Customer service was horrible by the 1st guy who walked with a limp and was very short. The second guy was okay. He checked me back in and asked me about the gas.I told him I put gas back in it a little pass the 1/2 way point. Do better uhaul in Salem. No stars.

NICOLETTE FThe app to take pictures of the van prior to leaving was not working and this location marked that there was "inner wheel" damage that I did not cause and sounds completely ridiculous and made up. Thankfully I bought the insurance.
Patricia Hlocation is a bit tight when you arrive with a 20 footer and an auto transport, fortunately the personnel that night was very helpful.

ROGER EI received a bill for $440.00 I was charged for a safe move which I did decline. I called and asked a rep what the total cost for renting a van for 6 days and he told me $287.22 When I told him how much I was charged he got all nervous and told me to call customer service. Also I was charged $108.00 when I asked the store rep he told me i was for vehicle damage. I told him no way i drove careful then he said it was interior damage a broken gas cap from moving something heavy. I told him I only put stop and shop food bags in the back, I did not move anything. No satisfaction from customer service so Id say beware of the extra cost they dont tell you about

DOUGLAS LI think I was overcharged according to the mileage, don't overcharge that is outrageous amount to pay for a few hours and for about 67 miles I don't think you're price was right I will never rent here again 😞
MICHAEL LWe had a weird issue with the battery with the truck, not starting. The guys in the Salem MA office got us help within 10 minutes and we were on our way.

PATRICK DLong wait. To rent. Truck took a long time to shift into gears and had one headlight out. Returning waited 20 min. Ended up going in and to employees are having a chat session. Meanwhile three trucks were outside waiting for help to checking. Poor service.

GABRIELLA MSalem the Man that help me was running everything from counter to going out back to bring and inspect truck, all alone he quickly got me on the road in 5 minutes. Very professional. Chicopee was very fast, about 3 mins, drove in and just handed key, and I asked the receipt set email. in and out in 3 mins, very polite and professional. As a Public Adjuster, I will be sending clients to rent trucks and storage when fire or water losses require a partial or full "pack out" Very Happy to recommend to my clients.
BRIAN BSalem U-Haul continues to improve and it’s likely because of the long-term employees, all of whom are friendly and efficient. The only improvement I can think of would be to purchase part or all of a contiguous lot to make driving and parking personal vehicles easier.

SETH PAssistant manager was terrific. He was safety conscious and really knew his stuff. I had a concern about getting back by closing. He offered to call me and meet me if I was going to be a little late. That's 5 star service!

MATHIS BI got into my truck and there were boxes from the previous driver in the front seat which I had to remove. Upon returning the truck cleaned and swept they charged me a cleaning fee. Keep in mind I moved furniture of which doesn't get the truck dirty. I have used this location 4 times and never have been charged for this. I will be going to a different location next time.

DENNIS JTook a long time for anyone to even show up to cover the desk. Then we had to wait a long time for them to find a truck for us to use. The parking lot was full so we had to find street parking to leave my car for the day.
Robert AThe brakes were very uncomfortable to use and because I was had anxiety about getting where I needed to get there was no time to waste I wasn't I wasn't in the mindset to call and or go back and exchange the truck but once I did return the truck I asked the manager if he could you know give me a partial refund and he said no you use the truck for what you needed to use it for so no you can't get any partial or full refund. He was so rude and so not trying to understand and definitely not customer friendly he even said to me can you make sure you don't come here anymore and go rent somewhere else!😰😱😭
SEMICOE GSuch a busy location, especially this time of year. The team was efficiently moving customers through and we breezed in and out both picking up and dropping off a trailer that we have rented twice in the past couple weeks. Fantastic group and dependable equipment. We'll be back.
ALDO PI was quoted $66 then charged $104. When I called to discuss these charged I was hung up on. I will not only not recommend this location but uhaul at all

DAVID RFirst, I want to make it clear that the people working here are great - really excellent service and the trucks are clean. But, I had two problems. One was being charged an erroneous fee that was associated with someone else’s name and state. It took the person helping me a long time to solve the problem (not his fault - entirely a lack of response from where he had to call). The second problem was that the truck I drove was not mechanically sound. The backup camera only worked on occasion. Second, the truck has a transmission problem, or something. About half of the time, it wouldn’t accelerate, revved loudly without moving for 10 seconds before switching in to gear.

I will never rent there again under any circumstances. I should get a full refund. I was sick for two days because of the exhaust!

Anthony Gambale personally made our difficult and stressful move much easier, while every single member of the staff was professional, friendly, and willing to go the extra mile. Every detail, even the ones we missed (like requesting overnight storage) was handled with cheer; we were given the option of larger truck for move-in-day, which was radically better for our needs. Even when we brought the truck back just-before-deadline on move-out day, and offered to unload in minutes in front of the storage building, they said not to worry about it, but if they needed the truck that quickly, they would tell us. It was near closing, and they even provided a few minutes of labor to speed the second-floor storage unit loading up. This was DisneyWorld level customer service. We were impressed.

I’ve been using it for well over 20 years not for storage but for trucks and supplies it’s better than it ever ever was. Max is definitely ready for his assistant management position and went above and beyond to help me get my storage unit set and truck returned.
