I ordered a cargo van but the day before U-Haul changed it to a huge truck and changed where to pickup and drop off. I called customer service and they changed it back to the correct pickup location but I had to drop it off in a different location far from where I live. They changed the truck to a 10 ft but I rather have the van. The truck had a broken driver side mirror and dents on the hood of the truck

I would like to start by saying that the manager was great and very understanding when I brought my concerns to his attention. However, I have several complaints about this specific location. First, the employee working at the front did a poor job explaining the process when I arrived. I was not informed that I would receive a text message that required me to complete additional steps before leaving. This should have been clearly communicated upfront. When completing the paperwork and signing the contract, there was also very little communication. For example, he asked if the email address on the screen was correct but did not point out the email or explain what I was reviewing. Instead, I was presented with the full contract as though I regularly navigate U-Haul paperwork. I found myself having to ask numerous questions that I believe should have been proactively explained, especially since I have rented U-Hauls before and know there are important details customers need to understand. When I got into the U-Haul, I also noticed that the side mirrors were positioned so close together that they were touching. This made me uncomfortable because it seemed like an unnecessary risk of damage, particularly when customers can be held responsible for damage to the vehicle. I do not believe the vehicle should have been sent out in that condition. Lastly, the U-Haul had essentially no gas when I received it. The manager explained that the gas may have been siphoned and said it should have been at approximately a quarter tank. While I understand that the gas may have been removed by someone else, I still feel that the vehicle should have been properly checked before being released to the next customer. Requiring customers to immediately stop and put gas in a vehicle they just picked up adds an unnecessary inconvenience, especially when they are already trying to get on the road to complete a large move or project. Overall, while I appreciate how understanding and professional the manager was when addressing my concerns, the customer service and general care of the vehicle at this location were disappointing. Based on this experience, I would not use this location again for future U-Haul needs. Overall rating: 4/10

Lynette B15' truck felt like shock's and leaf springs were missing (believe my appendix is bruised after 20 miles in Sacramento's 3rd world streets. Moreover, they tried hitting me with a $100 'cleanup' fee irregardless that I alone in cab left not so much as a dirty foot print in it, as I never even opened the locked rear cargo box! But after issuing a complaint to the area manager, I get to wait sev'l days before it posts in my bank account.
Steven HThe pricing is a huge scam. I’ve paid less for an 18’ moving truck. Also, the truck today was parked in a spot where my options to get in were to climb over a trailer or crawl under mirrors because it was so close to the other trucks. I am also not a fan of the self check in, especially when the truck is parked in a way that’s impossible to do a self review of the whole vehicle.

Richard VI’ve been a very long time regular customer I rent trucks and vans all the time I called to return my van at 1:30 and they charged me a full day plus the insurance I think a phone call at the return time would be helpful to advise that if it’s not returned shortly that my credit card would be charged without my consent. I called and spoke to a representative to let them know what time I was returning, and they did not say anything about being charged for another full day plus the insurance on top of that I will not recommend U-Haul if this is how the process is.
