The owner was rudely smacking her gum and playing with it when she took my ID to confirm her order. She took phone calls while helping me out. Upon returning my Uhaul, she was only checking out people buying boxes while she let her staff struggle with the volume of customers. I honestly felt bad for them.ASHLEY M.

Customer wait time way too long (over 1 hour) with poor A/C, overcrowded, no Covid 19 masking requirement enforced; and all this after on-line check-in which is supposed to make the truck pick-up easier and quicker. Customer service does not exist at this location. There were long lines to pick up and drop off. No one cared about the fact that I had to wait in the middle of King St for 15 mins waiting for someone to pull the other dropped off vehicles up of the way in a 20 foot rental truck. Then they charged me for the fuel I used waiting for them. Save yourself the headache and rent from somewhere else. I willâ€¦ALLISON S.

U-Haul charged me $651 for saying I returned my equipment in South Carolina instead of Louisiana. I returned the trailer to the drop off location in Louisiana two weeks earlier. Now I'm on hold for an hour to dispute the charge with U-Haul. Like seriously? I haven't been to South Carolina this decade.Brendan F.

Equipment was clean, but the personnel was neglecting on doing their job. The truck had the gate unlocked, on the road was banging. The lights on the dolly never worked alone with the truck, I asked if everything was ready, despite I saw the man walked and checked the lights, he lied. I was never able to get off of hold when calling the 800 number to schedule the delivery of our Uboxes...ever. The local number I called every day for 10 days and left at LEAST 10 messages to have someone call me back to schedule delivery. No one returned my call or ever answered the phone. Finally got a call saying the boxes were going to be delivered at 8am the next morning when I specifically had left messages that the delivery had to be late afternoon because I was driving 14 hours and could not be there in the morning. Then my husband called uhaul direct and made arrangements for delivery. Apparently Uhaul and their subcontractor delivery people never talk because the delivery folks had no idea. So they still planned to show up at 8am when they called me again. I understood that we paid to have the Uboxes dropped off and that was it. When the drivers showed up they wanted to unload the contents and said that was what the contract said. I am thoroughly disappointed at how the ball has been dropped and kicked down the road from the ease of the sales rental of the UBoxes delivered to Hilton Head to the clusterfuck of no communication and no one ever answering the phone or returning a phone call to me. Good location and convenient. Felt secure and met my needs for the time. Not sure why, but all the staff seem to be miserable working there. Not friendly at all. This is the only place that I know of that charges twice as much than anyone else to store items in a flood plain, Of course there is no grace period for paying the rent, even if you can’t get to the storage area due to a flood. Just out of curiosity, if the storage area were flooded and stayed flooded for 6 months straight, would you still charge rent for those six months during which our items were under water? There need to be trash cans more centrally located within the Uhaul storage area itself, the fact that we had to walk all the way around the entire building to get to the dumpster was extremely time consuming and ill-efficient. Clearly others feel the same way because there was constantly trash strewn through out the corridors. There is always a super long line in the customer service area and oftentimes associates who are unwilling and uninterested in helping whatsoever. On several occasions we had issues with Carol, who was not only demeaning, and apathetic but has the customer service ability of a dirty diaper. Sadly enough, she is the Manager or Owner!! As the highest on payroll she deserves a severe demotion and someone else needs to run that place. The only thing this place has going for it is its location and proximity to downtown. That and theres a young man who works there named TJ who is the diamond in the rough at that place. He works mostly outside, in the heat, helping to return and clean out the Uhauls. Our interaction with him was the only positive experience we can glean from patronizing with this Uhaul. He deserves a raise and a promotion for maintaining a positive attitude, being helpful, dilligent, willing to go above and beyond for the customer, all amidst clearly poor conditions and management that he has to work with. I hope his spirit doesnt get broken by the terrible attitudes of his colleagues and I hope UHAUL as a company regonizes his hard work and enacts stricter guidelines for the rude "managment" and "Customer service" agent you all have employed there.Max S. | Overall Experience
