You charged me an additional $353.86 after I already paid for my rental. It overdrafted my account leaving me -372.65. The charges were not transparent at all, I was not informed there would be an "environmental fee" or a $20 charge for returning the truck after 7pm. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Plus I had to clean the entire interior of the truck as soon as I picked it up. I'll be disputing the charge and contacting the BBB for fraudulent use of my debit card.

Ricky BThe truck itself the tire was rubbing while in reverse. While driving it, it felt like it didn’t want to go and I’ve rented plenty of box trucks and it wasn’t the normal feel. They also charged me for safe driving when I initially declined it. I tried to use the app and it was having issues so I had to go into the store to pick up.
ASHLEY LI rented the truck drive only 8 miles put 2 gallon of fuel in truck ,and they charge me for 2 gallon of fuel at 565 per gallons.That means your truck only got 2 mile per gallon.Truck was over fuel mark ,2nd time they have done that to me..

The ramp didn't really add much, and I kept hitting my head on the opening, either because the opening was shorter or because I was standing on the ramp when I entered the trailer. I'd much rather have the two swinging doors on the trailer.
Grady BWith my recent move, I've done business with two different U-Haul Moving and Storage centers. One in Ozark and this one on Campbell in Springfield. They are excellent to deal with. PIck-up and drop off was super easy. I had to keep my truck an extra day and they made easy. Friendly staff and very efficient. I would highly recommend them to anybody.

Darrel HFirst, they tried to switch the location I was using to one that was way away from me. Then I did d check in on the app so I didn’t have to go in. I had to go wait in line to get my keys even tho the app said skip the line. Then I had to go back in again to get the extra equipment as they didn’t put it in the truck. The girl working the counter was rude. The manager was not much better.

Don GReturned my equipment well before closed and talked to a representative in the bay when returning it. Then got a message my equipment was never returned … only to find it was and it was in their lot . They still wanted to charge my card for a late drop off stated they couldn’t do anything because their manager wasn’t there. Very annoying and frustrating.

It also was smelly. Sorry-but I meant to say something when I returned the truck and forgot. But the employees were very helpful and nice!
GRETA GThe location is central, and the service has always been excellent. This time I was disappointed to be told I HAD to purchase their "optional" safe move insurance, despite declining several times (as my personal insurance covers up to a certain size.) The explanation was a jumble of how the vehicles are owned, ect. I've never had to pay this in order to rent (many times) before now. This requirement was not included in the ads or reservation process. I didn't understand the explanation, and felt forced to pay it under time pressure just to complete my project on time. Make no mistake, I was told I HAD to buy it to rent the vehicle. This $20 truck deal easily became $40, and then (with mileage) $50. No longer a deal at all. Will use Lowe's or Home Depot from now on.

Bob CYou need so much improvement. It's not even funny. First off it took me two hours to make my reservation then I get to the location at 5:30 AM like my reservation said and evidently the lady on the phone said we were not staged and ready so the people at our house had to wait for us to go back at seven to get the moving truck then we did a one-way drop off driving from Springfield and dropping off at Branson West so they did our mileage only from Springfield to Branson West and did not include us taking our stuff into Indian point to drop off our stuff then come back to Branson West so we got charged for going over our mileage. I don't know how to put this any other way, but this has been a shit show since the day I made the reservation. I have never had a problem with U-Haul or heard of anyone having a problem until my issues. I will make sure everyone I know knows about what we have gone through just to get a moving truck.

David JI originally ordered the Cargo van from the Ozark location. They transferred me to the Glenstone location, where they had given my van away to another customer so they transferred me to the Campbell location. It worked out, but was frustrating to have to hop from locations to get the equipment that was expected. Van was super clean and nice and employees were helpful to find me another van.
Joel HEveryone was so helpful when we experienced a delay with our move in date for my 85 year old mother. I would definitely recommend this location!
Kimberly PDon't charge senior citizens $6.60 for a gallon of gas. We stopped and to the best of our knowledge the gas was at the correct mark when we filled back up. Suggest you keep all trucks at the full mark to make it easier to fill back up. Over $6 a gallon is robbery.
Debra NThe mileage that was highlighted was wrong. My fault for not checking it when I got in. I drove the U-Haul 34 miles and believe getting charged for 70+ miles. Managers were a joke and wouldn’t even come talk to me. And they weren’t busy they were just sitting in the office chatting and told the check out girl to handle it. I have used this location multiple times and most likely will never. I only had to put $12 in gas to get it to where It was when I got the U-Haul. So there is no absolute way I drove 70 plus miles.

Packing supplies were easily purchased and provided the additional safety needed to keep our HH furniture and home goods protected. The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Above all, the employees and manager were friendly and genuinely courteous….everything you hope to experience with going through a first-time and/or multiple moves. Moving challenges even the most organized and experienced individuals, nevertheless we all need help, accurate and detailed information, and above all patient and professional service. I rented it “ over the phone” AND I was only able to rent a 10 x 10 unit because that’s the largest that they had! I said we are going to donate our belongings that we don’t absolutely have to keep but we cannot keep on paying $500 a month for a filthy nasty storage unit and I had to have something soon to rent!!! I called around the whole city to try to find a 10 x 20 or 10 x 30 to keep our remaining belongings in and this was the only one available that was anywhere near where we live now! So I just told them in on the phone I’ll take it because he said there were only two of the 10 x 10 units in the whole place that were available for rent that day!!! I rented a 26 foot long U-Haul truck yesterday and the man had me fill out the paperwork for the storage unit too and on a little map where our unit was! I asked about a lock. He said we provide them. I spent all day yesterday loading that truck with things that are going to the donation place! I think the truck is due back this afternoon at 5 o’clock and my “helpers” are still not available to help me get the rest of our belongings out of the old units! We have three left that are half full! And also like I said, THEY ARE ALL 10’ X 20’!!!! I have no idea what we’ll do with the rest of our belongings, but we do have until 1 November to find someplace to put everything else that we own! (We had to unexpectedly move inw/my Then 96-year-old mother) So we ended up having to put EVERYTHING WE HAVE EVER OWNED INTO STORAGE-down to the Toothpick holders, etc!!! We had a 3600+ sq.ft. home, & all of the Sudden, we had to try to put out bare Necessities in my Mothers 1380 sq.ft.home!! WHICH WAS ALREADY FULL with my parents lifetime of belongings! My mom is now 96 years old and she can barely get through this house with her walker because we have so much stuff piled in boxes in every corner! And believe me, they are our Absolute Bare Necessities!!!!! I am on Social Security disability, and my husband has since retired since moving into my mother’s home, so therefore we have three people in this small home (to Us) living, eating, sleeping, 24/7!!!!! All That Plus we got Robbed at our last renting of storage at U-Haul!!!! NOT A PLEASANT THING, to say the Least!!! I’m getting ready to call my “help” again now, at 2:00 pm on a Sunday afternoon. The rental U-Haul truck is due back at the store at around 5:00 pm thus evening & we’ve YET to get any of the belongings that we went to keep and bring them to our new tiny 10 x 10 storage unit that I haven’t even seen! So please, don’t think I’m crazy for renting Another storage unit w/U-Haul, but, once Again, we had NO CHOICE! I’m Sure it will take the rest of October to go thru what’s left in our Other 3 units we have elsewhere, & Hopefully be able to put them into Some kind of order!!! I had Only wanted to rent a storage unit to keep our “seasonal decor, etc in!!!) We Have to keep our expensive furniture tho! We are planning on living in my mother’s home once she passes away & we don’t want any of her furniture, etc!!! Thank you- I’ve got to go now & Try to find someone to Help me get what we can Fut into your 20 X 10 storage unit before 5:00 !!!!

A day prior to me cleaning out my units I got charged again $189.00 as I should have. After several attempts at calling the store with no answer, I decided to leave a message to the manager to see if I could get a pro-rated credit for the following month. I spent over 3000 dollars with Uhaul and was never even called back or reached out by email. A terrible way to treat a customer in my opinion and I will recommend everyone I know to never use UHAUL!
Michael C | Overall ExperienceMy unit has two holes in the door and the door itself does not stay up. It is clear that the staff do not regularly inspect these units or ensure they are ready for move in. I checked in on line for the free lock. When I got to my unit, after checking in with the front desk to see where it was, I found that it had another lock on it already that the place needed to remove. I did find the lock in the unit, which tells me that someone did actually go to the unit, but no effort was made to take care of having holes in the door or the door not staying up prior to my arrival. I did not even get a phone call from the place saying the unit had issues and if I wanted to have a different unit. When I went back to the front desk to tell them of these issues, some staff basically said the units in that part always have problems and the one helping me said that he would have to talk with the manager when she was back on shift on Monday.

He stayed in the rest room till who know how long. But the inside bathroom is open till 3pm? No its not. I pay for after hours to get in, but odd I cant and I pay but the homeless has a running tab. Tammy told me all the glitches I was having was in the system, no it wasn't you didnt have a line of people with problems just me. Oh I want my comments to be final because Tammy has taken money that wasn't hers to take nor was I reimbursed. Not to mention found several other customers with the same people just Tammy locking us out when we know we paid am I mad oh yes and disabled. I paid for the after hours because of how far I had to drive. You think I got reimbursed for the lock out? Or how about all the gas I spent out so because of my medical conditions Tammy thought I guess I was absent minded well thats not my disability but I have found Tammy pattern in the disability community. I've been with you for over a year and Tammy wants to tell me all the errors where computer. No it wasn't it was fraud on me and embezzlement on your company.

Especially with the alarm that goes off without a code when you open the unit. I will say i didnt like that just because others stole a free to use item that it became unavailable to others. It would be convenient to be able to sign one out and have to return it as soon as its done being used. Not everyone is able to have even just $7 to rent one for a hour. The unit prices are somewhat understandable for the fact that its a secure building but it doesnt mean people can afford them entirely 😅. But overall we felt secure with our things there but its a bit financially draining, even more so when you're barely able to find a place as it is.

They never show you the footage and it seemed they do not care about that incident unless you have separate insurance. If you want to rent a storage unit in this place and store important your belongings, you need to get the extra insurance. Nice facility but it looks like Noone manage for their customers.

After emptying stopped by office, no one in store to help me, so I left. Called the store on my way home to check out, no answer on the phone. Connected to a non local agent and spent 10 minutes on the phone just to let you know I was checked out and wondering where the photos should be sent. She made notes in the system. It's been 24 hours and I have not received any confirmation that my unit and rental are closed out.
Martin V | Overall ExperienceThe staff are always friendly and willing to be helpful, but seemed short staffed, untrained (with regard to the swipe cards), and rarely are able to answer the phone. We had to use 4wd to access our unit after the snowstorm. Please pay staff a livable wage, and provide them with training and adequate staffing. Over all, we were VERY pleased with our Ubox and storage experience and will definitely return to U-Haul for future needs.

She supposedly lost the keys and wanted to cut the lock off. You almwouldn't let her she calked me when I wasn-t susposed to have any stressful phone calks!!! I talked to one of the people who handles these problems!! Thank you for nit listening to me!!! You 100%right nit to let her cut the lock!! I appologize!! I went right to where I told her the keys were!! Thank you again! I will recommend you again!! Loved the staff!! They were great!!!!

Which is fine, because I lost the key and that's on me What I don't think I should have to do is eat the other $131.90 because the right person was not there on site to do the job I needed done. When it is a job that is supposed to be offered by the facility. I would really like to be reimbursed for the difference, because it was not my fault that someone was not on site to authorize it. I can send the invoice if needed.

And they wanted to give me the truck with cero gas in it.... goodness!!! .... What else could come wrong!?? To our surprises they didn't have the storage unit we "reserved online", the attendance told us there was not a reservation and they gave us another unit not convenience for my elderly Mom and extra storage unit had to be rented because the size we reserved was not available ...Definitely won't EVER use this company again... they need to get their stuff together, no way to serve anyone!!!

We severely underestimated how much stuff we had and the offer from Uhaul for a month of storage with truck rental was much appreciated. I had a little trouble picking up one truck at an unstaffed location but got thru it with a phone call. Also, I was a little intimidated to drive a 26’ truck but found it easy and just needed to watch the mirrors and pay attention to turns. Also have a spotter when backing. Will definitely use again and recommend!

When notifying the first employee I was told that was my risk it is only a tin building and it leaks. In climate controlled units? The second employee said it was a known issue and they were working on it. If the issue was known, why were no tenants notified? We had water literally dripping off the cart we were using to haul our ruined belongings to the dumpster. I don’t remember exact beginning rental date, but that was close to $2000 in rental fees just to throw the contents in the trash instead of being able to safely move them out. Would never rent a unit in your facility again and will definitely make sure anyone that asks me knows to never use those services either. I have utilized outdoor storage units for years with no climate controlled services and NEVER had any water damage.

I made the alarms go off for what seemed like a life time because I opened my unit without securing my entry or whatever because I was not provided with my key card to disarm my unit at the time of check in earlier in the day. Nor was my password or access code updated so I was not able to enter or exit my unit properly as it prompts you to do so. Only received a message stating my access was denied due to unrecognized code.

I was told they would have a mechanic (?) run diagnostics(?) on it the next morning where they could tell exactly how many miles I drove it. I called the next morning, after worrying all night, & Josh wasn’t there, but Tracy (?) said it showed on my receipt that I was charged for only 12 miles. I asked her what caused the mix up & she said she didn’t know. I was very relieved the truth came out & I wasn’t charged 100’s of dollars for their mistake, but I still would like to know what happened. The whole ordeal really upset me & I worried about it all night, however I felt like Josh & the other guy at least believed me & they handled it very professionally & were very kind.

Finally I was told I had a unit ready and that I would receive a call when it was done being cleaned. 3 days went by, and I never received a call. I called the store and they said I didn’t have a reservation anymore because I never came back in to sign the contract. I stated that I was never told to come back in at any point, I was told I would receive a call when it was finished being cleaned and ready for me to move in. The lady on the phone sounded very irritated, and decided to hold it for me once again for a later date. I go in on that day, and they STILL had no reservation with my name. They had to now call the store manager who had me down. Once I finally was able to sign the contract, I was told my unit would have a lock and key. I got inside and there of course was no lock or key. I went back into the store and stood inside for 5-10 minutes waiting on somebody to come inside to help me. I told the person that they did not leave me a lock and key in my unit and she had no idea how to help me, and I once again was sent to somebody else. That person grabbed a new lock and key from the shelf and gave it to me and they both walked off without saying a word. Terrible service.

The lock did not fit, so again I had to walk back and was told it does fit so now I am a liar or an idiot and had to go get my own lock after all. The employee refused to supply a lock that would actually fit. The price for a month is overpriced for something that has no lights inside and no insulation against the cold and heavy rain. The security alarm is pointless because it gets no attention and the customer gets no email or text or a photo when someone accesses the unit. I absolutely will not recommend and shall, in fact, vehemently argue to anyone that it is not something worth the price or the effort.

It was great to go from almost 100 degree temps into an AC access from vehicle to storage space. Luxury! I knew my electronics were safe in the controlled environment since computers can react to moisture and extreme temps. When it comes to charges, it is a must to be as accurate as possible. I had to talk to UHAUL company reps to correct incorrect charges and refunds caused by the GM of this store. Everything got squared away, but it was a hassle. For my service on 9/1, that one went a lot smoother. It was definitely a smoother process than when I arrived initially. Although I would not use this location again, I will have to note that I was thankful to have received a climate controlled storage after my initial one was given away to someone else. Im just glad the entire process is over.

The facility was great - convenient (about a 5 minute drive to my daughter's new apartment), clean, free of critters, nice temp, well lit, and beyond spacious. I felt very safe leaving our daughter's belongings there. The rental fee was extremely reasonable and I liked all the selections of unit sizes. We will definitely use U-Haul every summer of her college years! So much better than "haul"ing all her stuff back and forth to Texas!
Robin K | Overall ExperienceI online reserved a storage until a week before it would be needed. I reserved a 5' x 10' x 8' . When I went to the location I was told that until was no a viable and I would have to have one on the second floor. The representative helping me was told to go over and check to see if there was a lock on the room, but did not want to and said there was probably no lock on it and checked me out. Then next day when I go to put things in my room there was a lock on the door. I went across the street and was told I’d probably have to get a new locker and they did not have any in the size I requested so I would have to go to the next size up for more money if I wanted too. I was told I would be getting a month free for my troubles, seeing how that was the promotion I was given for getting a locker and a truck this is all just lip service. I then go to get into my locker and the key pad does not accept my key card. I then hav to go back across the street and get this corrected. This was by far the worst experience in customer service and knowledge I have ever felt with. I would never reckoned this place to anyone.

Pamela G | First ImpressionsEverything was fine with this location until I received an incorrect invoice. I was charged a wrong drop off location fee, a extra two day fee, and a coverage fee. All of these were incorrect. This was done by an associate there by the name of Zach. I dropped off my rental with the auto transport two days before due date at the correct location with more gas in the tank than when I received it. On top of this, I have to wait forever and a day to speak to a rep to resolve the charge for additional mileage. I was told at the time of reservation that it would only cost $0.40/additional mile. However, I have actually been charged $1.00/additional mile. Pretty exasperating experience. Thankfully, I was able to speak to Zach and he waived each fee except for the mileage fee. Now, I have to hope and pray that I speak to someone soon at UHAUL to get the mileage fee corrected. I may never use UHAUL again after this experience.

Your reservation methods need much improvement. I moved 1400 miles with a reservation. When I arrived I was told nothing was available and that reservations only mean that it is reserved when it becomes available. I am paying daily for a 6x12 trailer and moving from Nevada, I need something more than this nonsense to coordinate my move! Not good service!

Very helpful. Beyond them however, ugh. No one communicated with anyone else. I had cleaned out and terminated my lease for a locker but I was harassed for months about it. And no matter how many different people I spoke with over the phone, how many emails I send and replied to it didn’t stop. My attorney even got involved. It wasn’t until I had to look up their number to respond to yet another harassing message they left me, that I found all the bad reviews about them for exactly what they were doing to me. So here is my bad review as well. I hope that they can pull their heads out of their bottoms and fix their INTERNAL issues before it adversely effects someone else.

The next day I went to the U-Haul dealer, and Matthew, who was quite professional throughout this whole situation, indicated that instead of the 10x10 I ordered all they had was 25x5s. Today I went back to get a refund as this would not do. I again talked to Matthew, who was again very professional, and then to his boss Zachary. Zachary said the computer was made to indicate that the unit I wanted was available even if it was not. This is a classic bait and switch, which is highly illegal, and I am considering taking action with the state's attorneys general regarding this matter. Zachary, the general manager, did indicate that even though I 'moved in' last night, which I did not, I would in fact be getting a refund.

I recently changed cards and that is where the problems started. I called and spoke with an employee who updated my card info over the phone. I thought all was good at that point. Weeks later, I got a call from a lady saying my bill hadn't been paid? So I went to the center and physically updated the card with an employee. 3 days later, I get an email saying my bill hasn't been paid and I am getting a $20 late fee. I responded to the email, and didn't hear back until the young lady called me back and we updated the card again. It would appear that it took me 3 tries to do task as simple as updating the payment method. My time was wasted as well as the time of multiple employees there.

When I went back to the representative for assistance he called the store manager who refused to assist, snapped at me to get off the property that he can refuse service and told me if I did not leave he would call the police for trespassing, when I requested a refund I was told to call corporate that he wasn’t refunding me until they made him do so. Upon contacting corporate I was issued refund and never returned but have received emails and a phone call telling me my storage payment is due. This location does not treat people well nor do they apparently manage their units appropriately as they did not document that the unit I secured was not used and the contract voided.

Just didn’t like turning around and seeing this two employees all the time.

I am thankful that I emptied out before this happened, but there are trucks parked up against the units where I was and only enough room for a person to get through. Just days before this I moved large furniture out of there and would not have been able to the day I closed. The other part is U-Haul in general is the slowest truck rental and storage I have ever used, I have used U-Haul a lot in the past few years. While staff are very friendly, you think doing everything online will get you in and out.....nope I’m at a minimum there for at least 40 minutes for any transaction. I tested this theory by renting a U-Haul truck from a local gas station. I was in and out in 5 min. At the actual U-Haul stores and I am have been to in multiple states, anywhere from 40 minutes to almost 3 hours....

Kevin M | Overall ExperienceQuestion 6 above asks if I would recommend storing with U-Haul to a friend. "Yes" and "No" are the only two answers. My answer would technically be "maybe." Staff were cold, disinterested, and less than friendly. Staff was not forthcoming with information and had no interest in selling a lock to me. I had to supply three sets of ID and list three personal contacts before being allowed to rent a space for two months, even though I was paying in advance. The price for the unit was extremely high - $156.00 per month for a space barely the size of a one-car garage is ludicrous. In fact, we emptied this space at U-Haul because we were finally able to obtain a much less expensive storage space elsewhere in town (Covid had many businesses shut down at the time I initially rented). Overall, my experience with U-Haul is average. The space was clean, accessible, available, maintained, lit, odorless and functional. The facility itself evokes no ill-comment from me. Staff and pricing leave something to be desired.
