The truck size I reserved 3 weeks prior wasn't there, half the staff seemed incompetent or not to care, the REPLACEMENT truck also turned out not to be there, and it took an hour before we actually drove away in a larger truck. Huge inconvenience. Before allowing units to be rented and driven from the lot, please inspect and repair these vehicles. The unit I rented needed an alignment, which is a basic maintenance service. I experienced repeated pulling while driving that would have been avoided had the vehicle received this service. When I arrived, I received a notification from the app that my equipment had not been assigned yet. When I spoke to an associate, she told me they didn't have a truck for me. Another associate then told me they simply hadn't checked in the equipment and we had to do the check in process in person vs on the app (my preferred method). Because the truck was not checked in, the rest of my rental items (blankets, dolly, utility dolly) were not ready, truck was barely cleaned (trash still in cab). The associate told me they were out of blankets, but I asked the runners if he could find me blankets and he was able to fulfill my order. I have had great service so far, and was very surprised by the disorganized staff at this location.LAUREN H.

The tire safety straps on the trailer were worn out the person that hooked my trailer up said to cut the straps so I can get him in the ratchet for the trailer to hold my car on it When returned the person that took it off took pictures of the straps and said that the trailer should not have been rent in that conditionWilliam S.

I reserved a 10 ft truck along with a tow. Got a call and email confirming reservation however when I showed up to pick up, the tow was not available! This inconvenienced me completely as I had to find alternative solution. I was also promised a $50 credit for inconvenience, which ended up being false as I received no credit. And let's not mention how I received 3 calls after I had already dropped off truck telling me where to drop off and advising me of drop off location after the fact. We were moving from Cohoes New York to Hempstead New York and we had a two bedroom home and reserved a 26 foot a truck upon arrival the truck was never returned and we had to settle for 15 foot of a truck there should definitely be a better system in place for people picking up trucks unfortunately we had to throw a lot of our stuff away because we didn't have the space in the truck including our babies crib.MICHELEY P.

A lot of confusion as to which truck we were getting. Told 2 separate parties it was their truck. Poor communication. Told by employees to see the other person about the mix up. A lot of back and forth. Unorganized. Also, returned the truck and wanted to go over with an employee and they told me to leave keys in it and they would check it in when they got a minute. All while sitting on personal phones in the office. And now, I am being charged for gas that I know wasn't below 3/4 when I dropped it off. That's why I wanted to go over vehicle with employee. This has happened to me in the past and I have let it go. But combined with the experience, I will probably never return to this location for a truck or any other rental needs.Tyler L.

I reserved a 20' truck and when I tried to check it out, someone drive away with it. They explained that there were 2 reservations for one today but why weren't there 2 trucks then? Anyway, I had to use a 15' truck which barely fit what I needed to move. They only charged me $105 initially due to the inconvenience. The truck was also given to me with less than 50 miles in the tank but marked as 1/4 tankâ€¦ I didn't have time to deal with that after waiting over an hour to check the truck out so I just got gas and continued. I put over $100 in the tank and brought it back with a little more than what I received it with, I was still charged $60 for the fuel and an additional $200 for I'm not sure what. They said I could go inside and hash that out but I really wasn't in the mood to do so and my anxiety was telling me to just pay it and leaveâ€¦ so I did. Seems there's a lot of discrimination either against women or women minorities. I'm not sure. The male staff at this particular location on Broadway in Albany refused to serve me and out the responsibilities on the injured employee instead of just taking me as I stood in front of him. Seems he's worked there too long. Maybe he can't tolerate his job anymore professionally. He has red long hair and is in his 40s from what I can tell. I was SERIOUSLY overcharged because the employee misplaced the key when I returned the keys TWO DAYS ago. I attempted to call the Albany location which I rented it from and the phone would ring and hang up. This happened about 10 times. The line was out the door both days I went there and they did not open the doors until 20 minutes after their scheduled time. I would like someone to contact me IMMEDIATELY and fix this.Jessica L.

While I could easily answer yes to your questions above, I simply can't give U-Haul of Albany more than 2 Stars. Accessing my unit (located on the 2nd floor) was incredibly frustrating because the elevator/key card/punch code system wouldn't work and every time I had the issue staff said "yeah, the second floor doesn't work." While the staff was helpful in solving the issue each time, it's clear U-Haul of Albany isn't investing in upkeep of their facility. We signed up online and paid for a unit in your Erie St facility. We received an email with the access codes (but no instructions on how to use them) and were told that our unit was unlocked and ready for us. When we arrived, we had trouble figuring out how to get in due to poor instructions and were only successful after another customer helped us. When we got to the unit, it was locked,. Repeated calls to customer service wen unanswered. The cell of the GM went to a voice mail and was never answered. The intercom was never answered and there was no one on site to help. We drove to the Broadway Office where Megan was very helpful, switched our rental to that building, and then showed us how to work the security system. I had some issues on my move in day. I was assured on Saturday 5/22 that the customer elevators would be in order by Sunday 5/23 which was the day I was moving into my unit with a full apartment of items. On Sunday when I arrived with my full UHaul I also rented there was no working elevator. I asked an employee inside who said "someone was working on it right now." I went back and waited for awhile by the elevators but no one was currently working on it. I finally went back inside and asked that someone operate a freight elevator because I needed to load my things into the unit that day. I am very displeased with uhaul as I got the storage unit and a truck. I was told that the lock would be removed off the unit so I could load my things and much to my suprise when I got to the storage unit after uhaul closed but storage was still open my unit still had a store lock on it which caused me to have to drive back to we’re I picked up my stuff which added more miles and took more gas. The bill does not appear on the online account until the day it is due, resulting in an unnecessary late charge. Only an “average” rating due to the fact that services provided are just... “space”. Staff is excellent, but in reality, you have very little contact outside of setting up and closing accounts if you have a storage unit. They are very helpful otherwise!!! The building is very clean and accessible. It’s only my opinion that when rental rates increase, it should only be applied to new leases. My security access code NEVER works. It welcomes me when I enter the building but does not allow me access to the elevator. I have had to ask the counter help for assistance numerous times in the last 39 days. It’s annoying and inconvenient. On 10/7/2020 I got stuck on the elevator for more than 10 minutes. The elevator call for help button was not operational - which is dangerous, and illegal. I called and called and called and nobody ever picked up the phone. Although I have used your service three (3) times, there are a few things that I would like to express. I tried to reach someone at the desk, and no one picked up the phone so I pushed the help box button on the floor, and no one answered that either. Supposed I wasn't there with anyone and I was getting attached. No one would have helped me in time. Also, it is too hot and there is no air circulating in the building. I thought I was going to pass out with no air. Lastly, the doors on the unit are so thin and limp that I really didn't feel that the lock was really securing it. I arrived at my storage unit At the Albany location on broadway at 7pm, just as the office was closing. I went up to my locker to move my items into the unit, however there was a pad lock on the unit with a green tag that said “customer ready”. I tried to contact the general manager who was Supposed to be available for after hours assistance, however he did not answer his phone, his voicemail box was full and he did not respond to email or text message. I was finally able to contact the security company who monitors the building, the gentleman put me through to customer service where I waited on hold for at least 30 mins. I finally spoke to Coco at customer service who suggested I “remove the green tag” and continue to move my items in. Her advice was not helpful as there was a pad lock on my unit that required a key to unlock it. I explained this again and she put me on hold for a second time to see if she could talk to the general manager. She could not reach Shannon, but assured me a local employee was on their way. I waited for two and a half hours (30 mins until access to the building closed) and no one showed up to unlock the locker. I contacted customer service a second time and spoke to a man who sent me a 47second YouTube video tutorial on how to do a mobile check in with a digital lock. This was not helpful. Since not being able to move onto my storage unit on the day I planned, I was required to bring the uhaul truck I rented back home, increasing mileage on the vehicle and needed to wait until office hours opened before I could move in. I am extremely frustrated about the whole experience using uhaul. It was a major Inconvenience for me to not be able to move in when I was supposed to. I would like to be refunded my total rental charge for the uhaul truck and 4 months rent free for the storage unit.Marlee S. | First Impressions

l am a very busy man, l get 1 day off a month!!! The elevator was down. There wasn't a sign & the front desk didn't seem to care? Very unprofessional, l will not recommend your facility & our relationship will be short. The gentleman who signed me up was extremely helpful & courteous. Saturday staff however, didn't seem to care that the elevator was down & didn't or couldn't tell me when it would be operational?Victor N. | First Impressions

I rented a storage unit two days ago - squarely during the Covid-19 crisis and it did not appear that employees or the store were following NY state recommendations. There was no information about increased disinfecting protocols (and it looked like there were none in place - floor was dirty, there was a latex glove on the floor of the elevator (yuk)), employees seemed unaware of the need to use hand sanitizer before and after interacting with customers, and there were no signs letting people know they need to keep 6 feet distance. Customers stood on line as usual and the air system near the counter blew hvac air in our faces. People stood close in the elevators that rode to storage units. Covid-19 is spread by air and surfaces. The Broadway Albany Uhaul needs to up its game to keep its staff and customers safe. It seems well behind the curve compared with the communications from and protocols put into action by other large companies. Please take this virus seriously and protect your employees, your customers - your business! What steps will you take to make employees and customers safe? I would like to hear about it as currently I do not think the storage building I've rented from feels like a safe place.Karen W. | First Impressions
