When I received the cargo van, the side view mirrors were very beat up. I wish those were in better condition as they are important to the safety of the driver. My reservation time and location was changed three minutes prior to my pick up time. It added several hours and over 40 miles to my final bill. I was told I would get a $50 credit, that didn't happen. I have been on hold a total of an hour and a half over two phone calls and still no one will answer the phone. I am extremely dissatisfied and will not recommend UHaul to anyone.CODYE G.
The biggest drawback to this location is the elevator. There is only one available for customer use, at least on Sunday, while the much larger freight elevator is not available. As a result, moving our items into the storage space took much longer than it should have, as there were several other customers waiting for the elevator at the same time. I went into the office to report the problem, and they told me they would send someone to operate the freight elevator. However, that never happened. We were paying movers for their time, and we came close to running over the scheduled time - all because of the slow elevator.Rebecca G.

The person hooking up the trailer told me that the trailer did not have brakes. It clearly has (and needs) a hydraulic surge brake system. I was not prepped to override the surge system for backing up a hill, but figured it out on my own. He also did not check all lights at pickup. On return, a different uhaul employee was very regimented in checking lights, and he was knowledgeable about the brake system, even telling me that I would need a tool to operate it. for the open 6'x12' trailer with ramp, mention that the ramp and opening are only about 4 1/2 ' wide. I had to move a 5' wide garden bridge. After hooking up I noticed the problem on my final walk around. The facility was able to switch me to a trailer without a ramp that had a full-width opening. I requested a 4x8 without the pole inside I was giving unit 3401 on the third floor I had help with me and I was on a time schedule working with them only to find out we arrived at the unit it had a pole on the inside so I was forced because of time and help to try to make my things fit and there were other items I couldn't put in I contacted the customer service I even went into the unit the next day to talk to someone and they said they couldn't handle it they take notes and somebody will get back with me I think I deserve a decrease in my bill because I was forced to take a unit that I specifically said that I did not needJesse B. | First Impressions

The truck assigned was something that looks like it was ready to be sold. Ran very rough. Bad vibrations when driven. Engine heat comes into the cab and the ac doesn't work making it uncomfortable. Make sure there is brake fluid in trailer and explain to customer that the trailer is equipped with brake fluid. Just to keep an eye on it. I am very displeased with uhaul as I got the storage unit and a truck. I was told that the lock would be removed off the unit so I could load my things and much to my suprise when I got to the storage unit after uhaul closed but storage was still open my unit still had a store lock on it which caused me to have to drive back to we’re I picked up my stuff which added more miles and took more gas. Staff member who helped us with our reservation was disengaged and very confusing and he was very poor at communicating. The 7th was extremely hot/humid and not suitable for storing boxes. The bill does not appear on the online account until the day it is due, resulting in an unnecessary late charge. Only an “average” rating due to the fact that services provided are just... “space”. Staff is excellent, but in reality, you have very little contact outside of setting up and closing accounts if you have a storage unit. They are very helpful otherwise!!! The building is very clean and accessible. It’s only my opinion that when rental rates increase, it should only be applied to new leases. My security access code NEVER works. It welcomes me when I enter the building but does not allow me access to the elevator. I have had to ask the counter help for assistance numerous times in the last 39 days. It’s annoying and inconvenient. On 10/7/2020 I got stuck on the elevator for more than 10 minutes. The elevator call for help button was not operational - which is dangerous, and illegal. I called and called and called and nobody ever picked up the phone. Although I have used your service three (3) times, there are a few things that I would like to express. I tried to reach someone at the desk, and no one picked up the phone so I pushed the help box button on the floor, and no one answered that either. Supposed I wasn't there with anyone and I was getting attached. No one would have helped me in time. Also, it is too hot and there is no air circulating in the building. I thought I was going to pass out with no air. Lastly, the doors on the unit are so thin and limp that I really didn't feel that the lock was really securing it. I arrived at my storage unit At the Albany location on broadway at 7pm, just as the office was closing. I went up to my locker to move my items into the unit, however there was a pad lock on the unit with a green tag that said “customer ready”. I tried to contact the general manager who was Supposed to be available for after hours assistance, however he did not answer his phone, his voicemail box was full and he did not respond to email or text message. I was finally able to contact the security company who monitors the building, the gentleman put me through to customer service where I waited on hold for at least 30 mins. I finally spoke to Coco at customer service who suggested I “remove the green tag” and continue to move my items in. Her advice was not helpful as there was a pad lock on my unit that required a key to unlock it. I explained this again and she put me on hold for a second time to see if she could talk to the general manager. She could not reach Shannon, but assured me a local employee was on their way. I waited for two and a half hours (30 mins until access to the building closed) and no one showed up to unlock the locker. I contacted customer service a second time and spoke to a man who sent me a 47second YouTube video tutorial on how to do a mobile check in with a digital lock. This was not helpful. Since not being able to move onto my storage unit on the day I planned, I was required to bring the uhaul truck I rented back home, increasing mileage on the vehicle and needed to wait until office hours opened before I could move in. I am extremely frustrated about the whole experience using uhaul. It was a major Inconvenience for me to not be able to move in when I was supposed to. I would like to be refunded my total rental charge for the uhaul truck and 4 months rent free for the storage unit.Marlee S. | First Impressions

I rented a storage unit two days ago - squarely during the Covid-19 crisis and it did not appear that employees or the store were following NY state recommendations. There was no information about increased disinfecting protocols (and it looked like there were none in place - floor was dirty, there was a latex glove on the floor of the elevator (yuk)), employees seemed unaware of the need to use hand sanitizer before and after interacting with customers, and there were no signs letting people know they need to keep 6 feet distance. Customers stood on line as usual and the air system near the counter blew hvac air in our faces. People stood close in the elevators that rode to storage units. Covid-19 is spread by air and surfaces. The Broadway Albany Uhaul needs to up its game to keep its staff and customers safe. It seems well behind the curve compared with the communications from and protocols put into action by other large companies. Please take this virus seriously and protect your employees, your customers - your business! What steps will you take to make employees and customers safe?
