I am a regular customer and have been for years as I only have an economy car so any hauling I need to do I rent a U-Haul, preferably a truck or a van as I have short legs. The staff at this location are excellent and what really impresses me is that they work as a team. How the manager wear so many hats is on believable. One minute she is managing the storage and there U-Haul rentals and then the next minute she's Scrubbing the toilet due to a mess left by a desperate customer.Sally N.

On drop off, I follow the signs and just sit in the vehicle with my trailer multiple employees walk by and just look at me. Finally after 10+ minus someone comes out after I can see them fussing about who would come out. The app wouldn't let me check out onlineSergei R.
I picked up truck and only drove 11 miles I put 2 gallons of fuel in it and took back they charged me for 2 more gallons . Something very wrong 4 gallons of fuel for 11 miles. Last time I rented there they tried to charged me 100 sone miles in less then 2 hours and I only drove 30 milers. What's wrong with the old Seward location?SAMUEL A.

My link to disagree with fuel level or damage has in the past or today never worked. So I take lots of pictures. I did notice and photograph an slight bump out on the top drivers side rear of the box van it really looks like a slight body line diversion at the seam . I put approx thirty miles replaced used fuel and returned . They attempted to charge for fuel. And attempted to blame me for what was now a very large corner separating at the top driver side of the box . I've shopped this store out of convenience since the early 90's . They are famous for add on charges and we all know it . I produced a receipt for the fuel I purchased and I have pictures of the condition of the vehicle. How dare y'all treat a repeat customer and neighbor in this vile manner.RODNEY B.

I called the location to ask for a registration of the rental and could not even get through to the location's direct line. I kept getting rerouted to the corporate number who simply connected me to the local number again without success. Tried email, calling multiple times, waiting on hold for several hours. Also, the rental was missing a gas cap which I called roadside assistance prompt and after multiple attempts as well, finally got someone only to have them put me on hold and never to hear from them again until I returned the rental. What can you do to improve for the next customer? Answer your damn phone and actually assist customers.ian S.

The last 3 times I rented a 26 foot UHaul the truck was leaking getting my things wet I felt I should have been compensated for this. They aren't supposed to leak it is very frustrating dealing with this.Gary R.

Advertising a $19.95 a day for a rental truck was deceiving given that I had also to pay for mileage and fuel. The representative assisting me couldn't explain why I was being charged for taxes since Alaska is tax exempt. And, I had to pay the $10 collision fee because the other representative warned me that they don't deal with private insurances. After a quick look at my receipt, I may have to dispute a fuel add-on charge that was already taken care of prior to dropping the vehicle back at the facility.Massoud F.
I was given the key and directed to the vehicle, the vehicle was parked extremely close to another U-Haul vehicle which made it difficult to get into the vehicle. There was a cardboard sign in the front window that I had to remove before I could drive the vehicle. When I returned I put gas in the vehicle and filled it to the same spot that it was at when I picked up the vehicle (3/8 full). When I received my bill I was charged for 8gal of fuel $48.12 and a $30.00 fuel surcharge. I tried calling the Uhaul place, but there was a 45min wait, so I drove down there and after about 30mins it was determined that I was correct and whoever checked in the vehicle after I dropped it off put in the wrong fuel amount. I was told that they couldn't do a refund and I would need to wait for the GM to fix the issue.Troy A.

We were told we were good to go but the trailer was missing tire, it was on a rim and looked like it had blown out. We noted the poor condition of the truck, looked old and had $140k miles. Once the truck was loaded and at the gas station we noticed the front truck tire was bulging and needed to be replaced. We received roadside assistance but the service provider was told the wrong lug nut size. We couldn't get a new tire that night and had to delay our travel. We drove round trip to our new home and was concerned the entire time that the truck may break down. More stress than was needed when we saw much newer trucks. We were also greeted as â€œwhat you need broâ€ and felt the staff at this station did not care about the condition of the equipment.Kevin S.

The gentleman who helped us at the front desk was very helpful but otherwise our experience was not great. I pulled into the parking lot to return the truck and found I that there wasn't much room to park. I noticed that there were 4 trucks parked near. return lane, facing all directions. The trucks were parked disorganized which left me no choice but to park in a no parking zone. I continued to the counter but was assured immediately that I was good to go and receipt would be emailed. Happy about the quick and kind customer service, I exited the building. Walking towards my vehicle, a uhaul employee told me to pull up the truck because I was parked in a no parking zone. I replied to him, â€œno the guy inside said we're good!â€ He continues to repeat himself and tells me soon as you pull it up, we're good. I replied, no! Boss inside already said we're good. My son didn't think anything of it and pulled up the truck. If my son got into an accident, can you imagine the liability?OSOESE L.

The front desk employees were disorganized and a little unprofessional. They were acting like chickens with their heads cut off. When I reserved my uhaul online, I included a plastic bed cover and a dolly but neither were provided to me and were not in the truck but they still charged me for it. I was told the location closes at 7pm, I got back at 650pm right before they close and waited in line. When it was my turn I said I just want to return the truck real quick and go home but they denied me and told me they are closing up and I need to do the uhual return online. I prefer doing transactions like this in person instead of online, but they did not want to help me. This wasn't my personal experience but the lady in front of me reserved a uhaul but the front desk employees had no idea where her truck was. Apparently they locked the key inside the truck and another employee who has the spare went home for the day so the lady had to wait 30+ minutes to actually receive her uhaulâ€¦ like I said, disorganized and unprofessional location.Christian W.

Unit was totally out of fuel due to siphoning by a criminal prior. Was told to go to nearest gas station located 4 blocks away or it would fail due to fuel starvation. Inside of moving area floor was covered in dust and some dirt and had not been cleaned prior to pickup. Employees were fairly friendly and helpful and inside of store was clean and relatively neat.John W.

Once again, the app was having issues checking me back in. It wouldn't accept my photo of the odometer/fuel for some reason. The person working came out and checked me out. He showed me on his tablet, that the original "scratch photo" had uploaded and he knew the starting mileage from the previous rental check-in. I reserved a 10' truck 3 months in advance and on the day before was told to pick it up at a satellite location. When I arrived at the appointed time it was very cold and windy and the business was closed. I used the app to start the checkout but after the second image was uploaded the app froze. I later learned that the 'system' at the rental location was down. I called customer service and they said I can go to the main location and rent a 15' truck. The only one available was covered in mud, had massive windshield cracks, and the cab looked like it had been lived in. However, it ran well and performed flawlessly under difficult conditions. So kudos to U-Haul for having good rental equipment but the app needs work especially in bad weather or limited cell phone signals. I will rent again but only from a location with a human being as backup in case the app doesn't work.Gustave S.
I was charge double and because of gas and more mileage when I put gas before dropping off the uhaul. Nobody was there to verify the drop off until I left the premises but yet I get an invoice couple days later. If someone was there to check during the drop off then yes but no. I had paid for 24hr access. As I was hours from leaving the country and storing my entire household at the U-Haul location, my access card was not working after hours. The number for manager in charge - Bri -, no one answered for more than an hour and U-Haul customer service also was unable to reach her after many attempts. As a result, I could not miss my flight, and my unit was left open and a cart of my items left just inside the door. I had to conitnuously call the next morning (after flying out of Anchorage) to get someone to lock my unit. The valuable household items on the cart had disappeared. I was told that my account was not authorized for 24hr access, though my charges paid clearly showed that was paying for them. Additionally, as preparing to move my items in storage overseas, my colleague made attemtps to contact the same manager -Bri- via phone to arrange transfer into a U-Box, but was again unreachable. If a manager is going to be unavailable, there should be an alternate to cover responsibilities to support customers. When I move back to Anchorage, unfortuately, I will be chosing a different location for the storage of my items. It's too bad, as the facility and most of the staff are great, but the most important services and management responsible for providing them are lacking. My collegue who helped me, he provided similar feedback and will also have the same advice to others using that property location.STEVEN C. | Overall Experience

Disappointed in the lack of lighting inside the storage room. Online process was excellent. I received emails regarding access codes and times the facility was open. Then, got to the site with a friend to download a trailer full of belongings and the building and storage room I was assigned was not accessible when I arrived at 7:30 pm. The emails I received showed 24 hours access and another from 5 am to 10 pm. But, the building sign showed 7 am to 7 pm. I was frustrated that I couldn’t get after hour assistance as well. I had to take additional time off from work to download everything without assistance the next day. I do appreciate the young lady at the counter the next day however, she listened to my concerns and helped me extend the rental trailer that was due in that day and even got me a storage unit switched over to the building that was accessible to me after 7 pm. This really turned a difficult situation into a good outcome and showed me their customer service commitment. I am a person that expects businesses to practice what they preach in all aspects and will communicate any discrepancies to the highest levels of management. But, I will also give a positive response to good customer service assistance when It’s done. So, I personally want to thank this team at the front rental counter for the excellent experience after my frustration with the initial online and on-site move. Staff were very kind and personable; however, the second floor of the storage facility is not ADA-accessible (there is no elevator, only stairs) and the only available storage unit in the size I needed was on the second floor. Because of mobility issues and lack of ADA access, it will take me multiple days to finish unloading my items into my unit. In addition, to unload or load items into/from the units you have to enter through the main store entrance and have staff accompany you to unlock side doors that access a narrow alley outside. Otherwise you’re forced to cart them through the main store area, which is difficult to maneuver a dolly or flat cart through, and through multiple card-keyed doors that you must register and unlock each time. To access the alley you must go in the main store and request that staff accompany you to unlock the outside access doors in an alley then walk back out to the front to drive your vehicle around to the alley. The alley is barely wide enough to accommodate a parked vehicle while allowing any others to pass yet it is the only exit for all vehicles being used to access the storage unit areas. Five stars for the employees (and it’s not their fault the building was built the way it was), one star for accessibility difficulties. Giving it an overall rating of “below average” as all other storage facilities I’ve ever been to are ADA-accessible and do not suffer from the complex vehicle access challenges this one has. I would have chosen a different facility but my U-pod is being shipped to and stored at this one and once it arrives I plan to the items from my storage unit into it. International self storage on c str and international in Anchorage I feel the ones running it is who is trying to break in. It happened during day not at night they claimed Our stuff was safe but I wasn't taking chances. I got a unit at unhaul right away. Be warned it is not worth going any place else. Besides u-haul offers insurance. That alone is worth it to me. The woman who helped us was super awesome and showed us how to gain access and gave us a map. I was then informed that access to storage on my side is only until 7 pm? Hi so I reserve a storage where I have an access for 24 hours and when I got there they didnt even know I had a storage unit reserved and on top of that i thought when u sign up reserve we get free automatic pad locks? I have to pay for the lock waited and greeted with unpleasant attitude but thats fine because it seems like the guy was having a bad day and hard day. The young man working the front desk lacks in customer service skills. I feel that he is not knowledgeable about the storage options and he did not provide clarity about location of the unit we rented and did not mention that uhaul had their own locks on the unit. The person that answered the phone when we realized we could not access the unit due to being locked, was very helpful and had someone come unlock the unit for us very quickly. If you want a square to put your belongings in, Uhaul has expensive rooms for that. If you want to wait forever in line, Uhaul knows how to waste your time. If you wanted to be offended, Uhaul hires the best customer service people for that. I’ll tell you, if I am providing you a good amount of money for a weak service, and your employees give me any attitude (hateful female I have encountered twice), or do not make me feel valued as a customer; I will create accounts around the web and make this review noticed. You want to waste my time, charge my card and hold my money, and then when I call to speak with the General Manager, Steve Womack doesn’t answer. What a disgrace to the Uhaul community. My experience with Uhaul storage was perfect until the day I moved out. I had reserved a 10' truck to move out my belongings on the last day of my billing cycle. The reservation was for a return trip with a base cost of $19.99. When I arrived to pick up the truck, I was told by the Asst. Mgr there were no 10' trucks to rent, that Uhaul had overbooked. I was then told there was a 10' truck but it was only for one ways and it would be $118 and I'd have to drop it off at another Uhaul location. I was not going to pay $100 more for a truck especially b/c this was not my fault. Nor did I have the time to drop the truck off on the other side of town. I instead started unloading my storage with my car but because the location closes at 7 I had to return the next day to finish. The Asst Mngr said I wouldn't be charged for the next month since I was now on day 1 of the next billing cycle, but I was charged and had to speak with a Uhaul rep (Raymond - who was excellent!) about reversing the charges. I had to take off the 1/2 half of this day from work in order to empty the storage unit as well. Lastly, when I asked about the $50 guarantee that's posted on your wall behind the counter, I was told my reservation didn't qualify because of the overbooking. This makes no sense. I made a reservation - the reservation was not fulfilled. It caused me all sorts of trouble, but the guarantee isn't valid because you overbooked? I have worked as a Logisitics Manager the past decade and have both used Uhaul for personal moves as well as for work related moves. I'll be hesitant to put myself in the same position with the company going forward and will be looking at other options.Jeff F. | Overall Experience
