not impressed with the entire process. Was told different costs when speaking on the phone to the reservation specialist vs when I picked up the vehicle. I asked for the entire cost, including insurance, but was then blindsided when picking up the items as what was quoted was different. Then I had to drive to another town to pick up the tow dolly just to find out it was not prepared for road use and needed maintenance. So then back across to another town to pick up a different dolly. A 20-30 minute activity ended up taking 3+ hours. No help from Uhaul to assist with the inconvenience or the lies in which I was told. Unfortunately, a pretty poor experience overall.

Zoe ANothing about the locations. It’s about your not letting people reserve anything until after they check that you can mess with their reservation up until 5 PM on the day before they move. This needs to be removed from your services.

Roble Z | Overall ExperienceThe staff inside helping me with the rental was super helpful and kind. The staff outside, however, was not very helpful. They handed me the keys and told me to back up the U-Haul truck myself from in between two rows of U-Hauls (after they had the customer ahead of me wait while they pulled their truck out for them) and they ignored me when I went to drop it off. Refusing to talk to me and pretending they couldn’t hear or see me only to be upset when the truck was not left in the spot they wanted after giving me zero direction.

SHANE RThe truck we got would barely start. Each time, we had to try 4-5 times. And it needed gas TO start… not safe or reliable. It cost us a LOT of extra time, which resulted in us having to extend our time with the truck, which cost a lot more money. NOT impressed. And then when we went to leave the review in the notes… it wouldn’t accept, so we had to say there wasn’t an issue. But there was. And the truck is unsafe!

JOHN BSuper helpful personnel got my rental modified to suit my needs! Uhaul phone system needs work. If you can get in contact with the local number, it’s great, but if you end up talking to the robot, it’s frustrating and not worth your time.
HERMAN MThe Uhaul on Orchard was a wonderful place for my moving and storage needs. It was so nice to be able to rent the moving truck and store my belongings in the same place. They have free moving carts to help with the transfer also which is a nice touch and the units and premise are super clean. Air conditioned units also make a big difference when you are doing a summer move. Prices were fair, access was easy and 24/7 and the employees were helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this Uhaul location.

I don't think you should tell your customers to buy lots of boxes because you will buy back the unused boxes, and then ask for a receipt when your customer takes you up on it. I ended up walking out and giving them back to you for free because it was too much hassle. Otherwise the facility is fantastic.

Having multiple dollies available at the entrance to the storage facility made it much easier to load in, and makes future trips to take things in or out more appealing. Plus, this place is SUPER secure - more than I had planned. That's the cherry on top.

After filling out the paperwork however it said I had to move in on the day I completed the paperwork aka the 5th of January. Why would it start me renting a unit on the 5th when I asked for the 17th? Essentially I'm paying for days that I'm not using. Extremely displeased.

When I reported this to the office they said everything was fine. And it would be fixed (twice). The real issue was that when I came back log in and removed the lock from my unit an ear piercing alarm would sound for about 3 minutes. Just grew to expect it

Dwayne H | First ImpressionsWe have no complaints about the location or the manager on duty. He was very helpful and kind. My dissatisfaction is purely with U-Haul as a company. We reserved (over the phone and with a credit card) a 10x10x10 interior unit over a month in advance of when we would need it. A day before we were to move in, a U-Haul representative called to confirm our reservation. A couple of days later when I logged into my U-Haul account to view my reservation and figure out how to access it, I noticed I had no current reservations. I could see a "past order" with the confirmation number that tied to what I thought was my existing reservation. I called the service line and waited on hold for 45 minutes. When I finally spoke with an agent, she told me that there was no record of my reservation, not even my email or my name, in the system. I was baffled. She spent another 30 minutes trying to figure out why we weren't in the system. Finally, I decided to print off all of the email confirmations that I had that would indicate we had indeed reserved a storage unit at this facility and take them to the storage location. When we arrived, the manager who was working promptly recognized the issue and let us know that there was not a 10x10x10 unit available and the best he could do was a 5x10x10. Essentially, he confirmed for us that the reservation means nothing and the units are first come first served. I would have never relied on this as a storage solution had I known we were not guaranteed the unit we reserved with our credit card. We found this to be completely unacceptable and believe U-Haul should make it much clearer to potential renters that the unit they have reserved may or may not be available to them when they need it. Again, my complaint is not with this Orchard St facility, just the company's rental policies.

When I arrived I was told that the space was no longer available and that they had tried to contact me, but there was no contact information on my record. I know that Uhaul has my email since I have received confirmation. They proceeded to offer me a larger unit for more money -- one for 3x as much! Additionally, the room they finally found for me was in an older building with no elevator on the 2nd floor. No thank you! Clearly there is a breakdown in the communication between Uhaul and it's franchises. Why was my contact information not shared? If it had been, I could have more easily found another spot. Since my daughter was one of the last to move out, finding another space was a scramble. The staff, while friendly were not able to assist in resolving the problem, which could have been easily resolved by offering me a short-term lease on larger space at same cost.

Also, it took 4 1/2 hours between three of us trying to reach U Haul by phone, when we were on the 890-mile drive. U Haul compensated by giving us one more free rent on one of the storage units, and gave us $120 coupon to put towards the other one. The staff at the office were great and very helpful!

Since my storage is down in the basement it was hard to move the furniture with no cars or elevators. Overall, the staff is really nice but the storage itself does its job it just didn’t have a stable ground which made it had to store my boxes.

Prior to my signing of the agreement, I asked if it was 24 hour access, and he said yes... then, upon showing me the unit, answering my question again, he said “ Oh, not these ones. These are accessible during our open business hours.” This is an outrageously enormous inconvenience for me. This was the only day I could move my belongings to storage. Due to working a full day shift, 7:00am to 7:00pm gives me about 20 minutes to do any moving... I have to be out by Saturday at Noon, and I just have to consider my stuff as a donation. I’m really disappointed in this specific business location. My family has used U-Haul for years, and they weren’t ever lied to or manipulated like this... Why me?

This was completely unfair and infeel likening was robbed being forced to get the unit early so it wasn't "reserved" for someone else....complete bs

This office not only accommodated us, but they called us back a few times to help us get registered over the phone so our daughter could start moving in. They really went above and beyond. Plus we get a free month of storage because of the virus. We deeply appreciate that.

If you park in the designated parking area you have to walk 20 feet to the stairs that are towards the back of the dock then through the doors and around that middle section to the back where the stairs are then to your unit. Not terribly convenient. And often it’s colder in the storage room than outside
