The employee who helped us was friendly and helpful. However, he never mentioned mileage - just asked if we were going to Amherst. The contract does not mention mileage either. So I'm not sure why I had to pay another $51 at drop off. Would love an explanation for this.Michael B.

Had to pickup the 17' truck in Fall River, MA for only 1 day, though I had booked it with an agent for pickup in New Bedford, MA for 2 days. This cause extra time for getting the truck, travel, and some of my movers did not help out with the 2nd load that needed to be done on the 1 day since uhaul said the pickup in Fall River had it scheduled for someone else on Sunday. Why didn't they reschedule the person for Sunday when I had made all my arrangements the week prior to my move. Caused a lot of inconvenience, stress, and a lot pf physical pain for the people that helped with both truck loads.Sandy C.

I rented a ten foot truck to pick up a mattress box spring at a Bjs Warehouse 25 miles from the location. When I arrived at Bjs, picked up my mattress box spring and brought it out to the parking lot, I opened the back of the truck and was immediately his with a strong gasoline smell. I checked the flooring and it was not wet and I knew my box spring was wrapped in plastic so I loaded it and took it home. When I removed the box spring the plastic that was touching the floor wreaked of gasoline. When I returned the truck and informed the young woman, she shockingly inform me, "yes, we know about it, someone spilled gasoline in it, our maintenance staff cleaned it, but it still smells." She then said, " Sorry, I will take $10.00 off, It's not my call, we have been told to rent it out". As a business educator I can tell you that this site requires customer resolution training and the manager/franchise owner should be put on notice for knowingly renting a truck with active hazardous waste. Our car got towed when the person saw us park our vehicle in the parking lot. There were no signs or indications anywhere that it was not a parking spot for customers and the man working even said he towed 8 cars that day for making â€œthe same mistakeâ€ and he watched us all do it without saying anything. I called to reserve and specifically asked for a newer 10 ft UHaul with NO WHEEL WELLS that take up 1/4 of the floor space. I was transporting very large and old oil paintings that must be stood erect, with the side of the truck supporting the 80" works. I explained that the OLD trucks, with wheel wells, would not do. We got there and found NO truck that we asked for. It took me 4 more hours to build a platform for the paintings inside. I won't use UHaul again.Carol R.

I had the worse experience with uhaul and I wouldn't use them again. I got my reservation changed three times, had to call and make a new one which they said was guaranteed, then got a call 15 minutes before I had to pick up the truck saying that they didn't have it called uhaul spoke to a lady who was I apologetic for all of this and gave me a smaller truck. I had to take it because I had paid movers but it took twice as many trips, I was offered nothing for my troubles at all. Overall worse company to deal with, next time I'll pay the extra to go with a better companyJocelyn M.

Although I showed the store my phone with the order # and p/u info, Bryson could not find my order and said they didn't have my truck. Bryson saidâ€¦â€We don't have your truck and there is nothing I can do about itâ€. He blamed me for moving the p/u location the day before, although it was U-Haul that moved the location so they could guarantee availability at this location. I showed that U-Haul comment to Bryson and again he said, â€œ We don't have your truck and there is nothing I can do about itâ€. He could have picked up the phone and called U-Haul central (but that would have been real customer service) but all he wanted to do was go home as he was on the phone with someone and he was saying â€œI'm still here but I am trying to leaveâ€. He told me I had to call U-Haul so I went out to my car and called. It was a 50 minute wait. 1-1/2 hours later, I went back in as a U-Haul central rep told me the store â€œdoesâ€ have my truck there and after multiple tries, a different store staff found the truck. It had been there the whole time. The fact that they could not see my reservationâ€¦and then they could 1-1/2 hours later was blamed on glitches in U-Haul's system. I lost a lot of time on my last night of vacation, had a headache and my teeth hurt from clenching my jaw in frustration. There was also a major glitch in dropping my truck off on my way down to vacation and it took them a week and a half to get my truck logged in even though I returned it on time when I was supposed to. They were sending me nasty gram emails that I had not returned the truck. The regional manager told me there was a glitch in the system that seem to be preventing them from logging it in. The employees Mickey and Hector made me never want to rent from that location again. Hector was overly hostile and should not be allowed to interact with customers. Mickey smelt like alcohol when she walked in. I was also told by Mickey I could not extend my rental to a week, that this location only does extensions for 3 days, and when I did get my rental changed after only having it for 3 days to a week, because she was lying, I ended up leaving without the truck because I did not want to have to go in and speak with either of these individuals again. This was by far the WORST customer service experience I have ever had, the WORST uhaul rental experience. You should not have people who very clearly are not capable of handling the public working for you.jillian T.

Charge me extra $40 bucks even tho I brought it back with no damage and more gas then what it had then when I returned the truck they didn't bother coming to check the truck so when I leave cause they told me I was okay to go they charged me the $102 to rent $20 vanbryan B.

Access is not to the full extent and is not secured with a door now being open. They say the cards to access our units from locked doors won’t work for 1-2 weeks. On top of that the unit I was given was absolutely disgusting and a large pipe that is in it which can stop me from being able to use my unit to the full extent. With some sort of insect pest control box in it. I have pictures that show how my unit is. I was told it would be cleaned out however it has not been. Went two days later to see if it was taken care of and it wasn’t. While moving by myself on 6/14, staff asked me to Circle back around with my car so they could move a truck. Upon doing so, they had me sit behind a vehicle as they cleaned it keeping me waiting never saying a word. On June 24th, I went back for the rest of my things. No lock on the unit people went through my stuff and they threatened me because I couldn't take a desk and I was on my way to get a friend's pick up to come back and get it so they threatened me if I get a bill for that unit 41 again I'm getting a lawyer and this is getting very legal8Robert N. | Overall Experience

While your staff is friendly and helpful, and you cannot do anything about the crime rate in your neighborhood, the facility itself is not in the best of shape. The rodent issue is frightening. The rotten odors coming from different units, the constant smell of freshly burned cannabis from within the building and the overall cleanliness are issues. I fell while I was there on uneven, unmarked concrete. I notified the office and nothing was said or done. It was on camera, but nothing happened. Let the customer know upfront what the total charges will be. You put a great ad out there for rental then it ends up much more than you thought you would pay. The people at the location were great. Not their fault. I just thought the whole rental was unfair based on the ad info.Steve G.

It took 4 days and 5 different units from 3 different towns to finally be able to have a storage unit. The assistant manager and manager of New Bedford Mass should not have jobs they gave our unit away and then kept giving us units that where not accessible and when given a chance to make it right they kept saying there was nothing they could do and it was our problem. They were rude and talking down and slander about other facilities. They would not watch the video of us looking for our units and they wouldn’t bring us to show us any of the units that was unavailable. I will never use you guys or refer you guys and I will be telling everyone about this experience. Your motto is moving is stressful we make it less stressful and that to me is a trash motto for a trash company. Since we had a unit that was on the basement level, we needed to use the conveyor belt. Sending the items down worked okay, but sending them up was difficult. The tread on the belt is so worn down, there is no grip, so a lot of the items kept slipping down and we needed to carry them up the stairs. There were rodent feces in my unit and in /on my belongings. I asked several times for something to be done and each time I was given a new mouse trap to place in my unit. My 6 year old autistic couldn't use the facilities as It was dirty (and the bathroom) was covered in human blood and feces a few times when I went there. Also I ended up having to stop taking him with me when I went there because people were in there using drugs on several occasions and I didn't want him exposed to that. It was the final straw for me.
