AVOID THIS LOCATION AT ALL COSTS! I wish I could give 0 stars. Their customer service is terrible, every man who works at this location is unnecessarily rude and condescending. My husband and I signed up for Online Pick up. The van was not in the location it was supposed to be, so I went inside to ask. I was told to go to the pick up and drop off lot, and to ask the men working for my van and my key. I go to the lot, ask the men working for my van and key, they gave me very rude and very short answers that were basically "look at your phone, what does that say?", I tried explaining that I was specifically advised to ask them for my van, and was consistently interrupted with the same unhelpful answers, until it finally became clear that I needed to search the lot myself for the van and dare not return to them until I had found it. The lot was completely full. It took 20 minutes to find it. Did the inspection, everything looked normal. We're about 15 minutes away from the location, we go over a speedbump, and it turns out the back brake light fixture had been broken off and then just placed on back on so we couldn't see in the inspection. So we had to drive back, explain what happened multiple times to multiple people, before being given a new van. When signing the new contract I tried to verify that we wouldn't be charged for their broken equipment and the man working just interrupted me to say "Just sign the contract." I told them IN THIS MOMENT that we wouldn't be returning the van until after hours and was given NO instruction on what to do with the key. We returned the van that evening, 30 minutes after they closed. The app gave no instruction, and all key boxes were visibly locked, so we did what we thought was the right thing, and locked the keys inside the van. We are now being charged $150 on top of everything because they don't have duplicate keys. If we hadn't been given a broken vehicle to begin with, we would have been able to return the vehicle before 7pm. Also they KNEW we were expecting to return the van after hours, they provided NO instruction, and ALL BOXES WERE LOCKED! So why should it be another $150 out of our pocket??? I was already planning on leaving a bad review for this location, based on the unbelievably rude staff and faulty equipment, but this sent me over the ledge. AVOID THIS LOCATION.Hugh H.

Make sure to check the overflow lot for your U-Haul if you don't see it in the main lot. This isn't advertised and you won't know until you ask someone. Pickup took forever because of this, however, the employees were very friendly and helpful once they got involved.Tristan P.

I was told I would have a lower level climate controlled unit and when I got there it was an upper level. Staff was not friendly and not helpful. The hours of access are ridiculous. I am SO VERY SORRY that I moved into UHaul. The movers were already there and I couldn't find another place. I am so unhappy with UHaul and my entire experience. This rating does not reflect the staff at this location. It reflects all the numbers i was transferred to after having issues with renting the truck. This was the worst truck rental/uhaul experience I have ever had. We wasted so much time, talking to 12 different people to get anything taken care of. I do thank the manager and Tiffany who was at the 5th st ne location (she was the only helpful one really through this whole experience, oh yes and the gentleman who was on the 877 number afterhours also). But the whole process wasted so much of my time that I will never do this again. Do better uhaul. Seriously. Truck rentals shouldn't be this difficult. People do not have an extra 2 hours per pick up and drop off to deal with piss poor technology. Uhaul.com and mobile pick up could use a lot of work. Among other things.JALYN M.
The windshield wiper fluid system had a leak in it, had no windshield wiper fluid from Boston to Virginia after snow storm. Had to stop 5 times to clean off wind shield after losing visibility. At the first rest stop, I bought $5 gallon of fluid, which subsequently leaked to the ground when depressing the fluid switch. I dropped of the Truck, and tried to explain this to the UHaul worker, he was having a conversation on his ear buds, cussing something about his kid's school and seemed annoyed I was trying to talk to him. When I tried to explain the truck needed to be fixed, he nodded and then he walked away. He didn't take any notes, so no idea if he is going to make a note of it and get it fixed for the next driver.Martin B.

The lady that waited on me, was very nice/nasty, started off she kept on calling me (Bady), I am (60) yrs old, and when I told her my name is Darline, she said in a nice/nasty way, (that is the way I talk). And please do not mistake her for the first how help me when I mad the reservation, she was very nice. I am talking about the lady who waited on me when I pick up the truck. As the process went on she very sharp with her words that make me very uncomfortable, I can wait for the process to be over. I moved my stuff out of your facility because I never really felt my stuff was secure. The top of my unit which was on the end had a plastic cover that was not secure,You could slide it over with your pinky! Also being as it was an upper unit I had to climb the latter. Your latter's were unstable and old with chipping pain. I NEVER FELT SECURE climbing those latters! YOUR SALES STAFF IS AWESOME!!!! Very very NICE! YOUR STORAGE CONTAINER AND LATTERS are TRASH. I had been back to drop off and retrieve items. And Every time the LATTERS , didn't matter which one I used. WERE VERY UNSTABLE AND UNSAFE. This location was lovely and solved my issues - they were miracle workers. But UHAUL nationally and regionally delivered disappointment after disappointment followed by bad information, unhelpful agents, and unreasonable hold times. I hope that UHAUL regional managers for Maryland and PA read this review and take notice. I am baffled as to how so many companies can track thousands of packages nationwide on an hourly basis through a single website, but UHAUL cannot track a few thousand trucks on the East Coast using its web tools or numerous call centers. Short story: I rent a 10 foot truck online on Nov 26 for a 1-way trip from Frederick MD to DC on Nov 27 at 11am. Around 10:30am on Nov 27, I receive a vmail from a UHAUL person somewhere in MD telling me that I would need to pick up my truck in Hagerstown with an address and phone #. I call the number and the office is closed. I call the Frederick office (my original assigned pickup) and the staff person tells me to call the 1-800-UHAUL bec he cannot help me bec no trucks are available in Fred. I call 1-800 and wait more than 35 minutes on hold, to be connected to an agent (not a pleasant man) who tells me that I need to go to Hagerstown. I already knew this. He offers NO OTHER INFORMATION about seeking a different size truck, etc. until I ask and then he tells me to call 717-652-9102 which he calls the "scheduling office" to ask them about another size truck or other options. He cannot transfer me. I call them and a slightly friendlier young man tells me that I have reached the scheduling office for parts of MD and PA but that his office does not handle Frederick and he can transfer me to that 'scheduling office.' While attempting to do this, he admits he can look up trucks in Fred and appears to do so - telling me that no other trucks of any size are available for a one-way in Fred or anywhere closer than Hagerstown. He offers me 40 extra miles due to the changed starting point and confirms my pickup time is now 1230, and we confirm the location again. I call that office but no one answers. I drive there and find my truck which the app says is my assigned 10 foot truck. No key in sight - app tells me to go inside. Office is closed for the holiday. I text w agent in app who sends me the lockbox codes for all 3 boxes - only 1 contains a key and that belongs to the 26 foot truck on the lot. The text agent calls me (or connects me to someone) and this agent finally knew what was happening - her system shows that this site is open and tries to call owner with no luck. Luckily the local staff stop by briefly, talk to the agent and I get the key. Local staff explains that they told national they would be closed for 2 days but clearly that information was not recorded. Again, the local office was lovely and helpful. UHAUL - get a modern, centralized tracking system for your business. Please call ZIPCAR for some advice - they seem to have it down.amy N.

Dealer I ultimately dealt with was great. Dealer I made my reservation with was problematic. (Jonas snow removal and lawn care services). They did not have the trailer I reserved, and it took 45 minutes for them to tell me where I could go to get my trailer (an extra hour of driving). They appeared to be working as an agent on my behalf. Maybe the dealers don't have all the tools they need to be successful.Joseph W.

The customer service at this location is deplorable. The staff is extremely rude, and the General Manager Osman is very disrespectful and short tempered with customers. I requested a lock cut, as I lost my key and I’ve had the unit for about six years. He told me that it will be a minute. When asked a time frame he said, “It will be a minute” and walked off. I came back approximately two hours later, and he was still unable to provide assistance. There were two females working when I arrived. One seemed to have an attitude the other barely spoke English. I had asked for a ground floor unit and did not get it. Also the parking situation is dangerous there - only one way in and out and if loading area is full you have to figure out what to do with a 36” uhaul. I was extremely frustrated. Luckily when I came back in a Nice middle aged man ended up helping me and went through my contract. He was extremely helpful. The ladies there were not. Also this is in a very sketchy area. 1. The requirement to use the U-haul sold crescent lock is a scam and money grab by Haul and its dealers. I have had storage units for a decade using my own combo lock and never had a security problem. The idea that the required lock provides better security is a lie. 2. The movable ladder necessary to access my second level space constantly wobbled making it unsafe to access my unit. There was not another ladder available use. this is unsafe and reported to the facility. 3. The storage unit door did not close properly and align so the lock could be easily installed. This was reported as well. It took two of us on a the above rickety ladder to push the door enough so it would align and lock the unit door. Such a basic. Get it right. 4. We were only shown (1) elevator. Lots of waiting. this is a converted 3-story warehouse and if another elevator exists we were not shown it. More focus on making money and less on customer service by investing in necessary vertical transportation. Really not sure I'm not going to move back to the Cube Smart a few blocks away.
