REXIE KINGThe pickup process was a bit confusing, the truck was not prepared for me when I arrived. It was dirty with garbage inside, the dolly I rented was not available and the truck was still parked far into the lot instead of out front, and the right mirror had reflective paper attached to it rather than an actual mirror which was incredibly unhelpful - not to mention, unsafe - when driving and trying to parallel park in the city.

Serena LauThe Manager Osman was a Godsend. He was polite and answered all of my questions since I was cleaning out my storage unit and ending my contract with Uhaul. I don’t know what I would have done without him. The other older Black Gentlemen that worked for Uhaul was not friendly at all. He was actually screaming at me when I asked him a question and I have a witness. I was.never rude to him but he was to me. If I can’t ask a question to an employee of Uhaul who can I ask?

William DrakesThere were several issues with my experience. First, there was no warning of the extra verification needed to pick up the truck. If you are going to require a secondary contact, photo of passport etc. you need to clearly state that before I am at the location trying to pick up the truck and meet movers. You should also allow people to upload existing photos of their passport or lease rather than only allowing a new photo of it - I have a photo saved of mine but believe it or not did not think to take my passport or lease to the U-Haul location. In addition, I ordered a furniture dolly and utility dolly as part of my reservation a week before picking up my truck, however when I got there neither dolly was in the truck and the attendant said “well of course not they wouldn’t be in there”. Why not if they were part of my order? They also had no furniture dollies available even though I ordered one a week prior. Also there was a leak in the corner of the truck and it was raining the whole day, so several of my items got soaked with water including boxes of books that were damaged from the leak. Finally, the app is badly designed. It was very difficult to find the option to start the pickup process for the truck - it was hidden under some banner you needed to click to expand. This should be one of the first main options you see in the app without digging around for it, as it’s the thing most people will be using the app for. I was also offered a chance to buy supplemental insurance for the rental three different times, even though I already bought it when I made my original order. Continuing to be offered it made it very confusing as to whether or not I was covered.

linda alexanderI independently measured the distance I traveled using mobile geolocation apps and found that the truck's odometer more than doubled the total miles I drove from 42 miles to 100 miles. The attendant at the rental parkinglot was rude and unhelpful.

They're friendly, competent, and remember who you are. One of the best retail experiences I have had. I give them the highest possible marks.

It was affordable and easy, but I would not recommend this experience. Starting the vehicle was also difficult if you didn’t have the key in exactly the right place. It felt loose.

THERESA MEEKSThe pick up process was terrible. The mobile app didn’t work, so needed to work through the rep at the counter, and the need to call 2 emergency contacts and have them answer was unexpected, time consuming , intrusive and unnecessary . Whole thing took over an hour. While the mobile app pickup is a good idea in theory, it needs to work in practice. Otherwise renting a U-Haul is just as miserable as any other car rental experience (drop off was smooth and easy though)
Albert SturtevantPicking up the U-Haul was an absolute nightmare. I arrived at this location around 9:30 a.m. to pick up the U-Haul and was not able to actually get the U-Haul until around 10:55 a.m. I waited in line to be told to just use the kiosk and QR code. The QR code did not work for anyone that was told to do that, so we had to come back and had lost our place in line once we came back. We then waited in line for about an hour again. Drop-off was easy, and the new person at the desk was friendly and helpful. But the pick-up experience took so long and the staff were giving incorrect directions to everyone to use a QR code that wasn't working. I would not rent a U-Haul at this location again because we missed our move-in window because of the delay with the U-Haul.

Mike MeyersThe U-Haul Self-Checkout feature was a nightmare to use. From the time that I arrived to time that I was able to drive away in my U-Haul rental it took 50 mins. Many of the steps to verify my identity should have been asked of me prior to me arriving at the facility and having to go through the steps of taking my picture, taking pictures of my drivers license and tracking down two of my friends/family members to answer an unsolicited call from a U-Haul representative. If I had known these steps were required, I would have completed them in advance at home rather than outside in the U-Haul rental parking lot. Fortunately, one of the customer service reps, who was great, was able to help me out with the rental but in the end this defeated the whole point of me using the self-checkout option. As far as the U-Haul van I rented goes, the gas was less than what was written down on my rental agreement which I likely returned it with more gas than when I started my rental and one, possible two, of the turn blinker lights were out, which is a safety hazard. I recommend someone should check the lights on all the vehicles before renting them out. In summary, the location and staff were great, the van needed maintenance and the self-checkout option needs to update its workflow for improved customer use.
Mark OrtizThe manager updated the pickup location for the truck to another location at around 7am and my pickup time was scheduled for 9AM. I went to that location at around 9:15AM and was then very rudely told that the truck was sent to the original pick-up location. The message that this change was made was sent to me at 9:24AM. Staff was very rude and acted as if this was my doing when I was not informed properly of the changes. This caused a delay in my move, and I had to arrange then for transportation to the other location to pick up the truck.

John LuckhowecI called the day prior to confirm that the box truck would be staged and ready for a self pick up at 7 am. I was told yes it would and also called uhaul corporate to confirm and was told the same thing. When I arrived at 7 am the app told me that overnight my reservation was removed from the truck and there was nothing for me. I spent 1 hour and 45 minutes with U-Haul support being transferred to 3 different departments before a nice lady actually listened to me and tried to help. Nothing was done about the mix up and U-Haul will not offer anything to rectify the situation. I will not use this service again.

If you try to go there past 7pm you will not be able to access your unit because uhaul trucks will be flooding the road blocking your way into storage entrance. This happened to me and ruined my move in plans. I had to take extra vacation from work to continue the move the 2nd day, I had to find a secure parking for a 10ft truck, which is not something easy to find. I called customer service, called the storage location the day of and then the following days, no one ever replied or heard my concerns. Definitely not a good service or a good location to store belongings becuade access hours are random and unoredictable.

When mistakes are made (whether yours or theirs) or things go wrong, they show urgency and help resolve the issue quickly. Everyone at every store and every garage was absolutely lovely. And they were real people, not robots. They all made that human connection and made you feel like they cared and wanted to help. Such a consistently pleasant experience over 12 years or so is the rarest thing ever.

When arriving at the storage facility staff was very rude and unhelpful when we arrived an hr before opening we were at the correct place and were mislead by staff of which building to be at then when we asked for help finding unit at the building they took us to, the staff member just walked off and we spent an hour looking for the unit that we moved in online the day before and should have had the lock in it but wasn't ready at all and we had to go back down wait in line to get one. It was incredibly frustrating from start to finish and my worst experience with U-Haul to be honest

The Wi-Fi was extremely slow bc of the back by the register. But she didn't want to help bc she got off at 3pm. But the young lady with the glasses short finished helping me. The other lady had to leave. My reservation was for 2 but I got there 2:25 it was a line. Please if you don't have people with patience or customer service represent your company they will lose business.

Every single person I’ve had contact has been extremely helpful and pleasant to do business with. When mistakes were made (whether it’s mine or theirs) they were very fast to assist in making things right. Moving is stressful but these people are true professionals that make it easier.

I set my account to autopay, they collected the money on a Monday and I was moved out by that Saturday. I was told that, per U-Haul policy, customers are not partially reimbursed for vacating early, and that Uhaul will resale your unit (that is paid up through the month) to someone else even though they are not giving you the money back for leaving early. That is not a well thought out policy and needs to be stated clearly upfront.

First, I was told upon arrival that the storage unit I reserved was no longer available and that I had to select a more expensive unit. This is something that should have been communicated well in advance so I could better assess my options, including another location. At the very least, I would have appreciated a credit honoring the original rate for the bait and switch. Also, the nearest elevator in the storage facility was not working when we arrived and my movers were stuck on the second elevator (along with another customer) for more than 25 minutes before someone came to get them. As I result, I incurred unnecessary mover charges for the delays and found myself hauling my items up the steps while waiting for both elevators to be fixed and my movers to be freed.

When I arrived at the location, the code that was given to me did not grant me access to the facility even though they said I would have 24 hour access. I tried calling the general manager but was sent straight to voicemail every time I called. I eventually was able to talk to customer service but they informed me that they couldn’t do anything except try to contact the general manager of the facility. I was not happy with this response so I asked to speak with a supervisor. After telling the customer service agent that I wanted to speak with a supervisor they put me on hold and then came back and asked me to try the code again. It worked. Something occurred behind the scenes after I had to literally ask for a supervisor to get anything to happen. My experience with U-Haul recently has been extremely disappointing and has required way too much effort to make using their services worth it.

I called them to cut the lock for me and they refused, they lied to me and told me they don't do that anymore. So when I opted to cut my own lock, i stead of paying for a locksmith, they got upset with me and decided to cut my lock for me, after they told me they don't do that anymore. Also one of the storage units was filled with webs and spiders and there was a water leak that destroyed my mattress, causing me to throw it out, an expensive mattress. It also rusted out my workout metal equipment. My wife and I experienced lots of attitude from these people from day one, from several different employees. Would not ever recommend this place to anyone.

Then, my access code wouldn’t work and they couldn’t fix it because the system was malfunctioning. Then, all of the elevators were broken so they had to change my unit to one on the first floor because there were no elevators that we could use to access the other levels. And because they couldn’t get my access code to work, I had to have someone stay inside the building at all times to trigger the automatic door so we could re enter the building to fill my storage unit. The staff were helpful but the facility is so poorly maintained to cause all these problems. Overall, an hour of my time was wasted after I had spent 10 hours in 90 degree weather moving and loading my truck. I would never choose to use u haul storage again after this experience.

I was like, well, "send me a receipt of the charge being refunded!" Then they did. Real talk, if the receipt of the refund was initially sent, then I wouldn't have made multiple stressed out phone calls to ask for the refund receipt. Just saying. But other than that, everything was super clean, really nice, nice staff. It's a Uhaul.

Please please to the management, examine each ladder and try to climb up them with a box and a mattress and see how you do, then put two people on the ladder hoisting stuff and see how it goes. Very disappointed and planning to do negative reviews in multiple social media locations if my concerns aren’t responded to.

LATAMRA THOMAS | Overall ExperienceOverall, this is a very nice facility. My unit is in the new building which is super clean and modern, so that was really nice. But the online check-in process was a mess. I checked in online the night before and got my unit number and access code, but upon arriving to the facility, found it very unclear as to how I actually access my unit. There were 3 call boxes on the wall with no indication as to which one I needed to use. When I tried the call box that seemed to be the correct one, I got a message saying "access denied, not checked in" even though I already checked in online. Thankfully, the employee in the office was a HUGE help as she walked over with me and showed me that I first need to "check in" again by entering my access code into a different box, then needed to dial my code in again at the main call box to actually open the door. There were zero signs or placards that indicated this on the wall, so I would have never figured that out. She then walked me over to my unit only to find that it wasn't ready for move-in. The facility padlock was still on the door and the free disc lock that was supposed to come with the unit was not inside the unit. The funny thing is, I had already purchased a disc lock at the location I picked up my truck from from because they told me (incorrectly) that a free one does NOT come with my unit. The wonderful employee yet again took care of me and made sure I got a refund for the lock I had purchased earlier. So in other words, had I relied on the online check-in process and arrived at the unit after the office had already closed, I would have been TOTALLY screwed because I absolutely would not have been able to get into my unit. Again, the very friendly and helpful lady in the office saved the day for me, explained everything, and got me all squared away, so the overall 4 star rating is thanks to the great staff and the fact that the condition of the facility and unit is really nice. Everything would have otherwise been smooth but it appears there is serious lack of coordination and communication when checking in online (I had similar problems when I went to pick up my truck at another location despite already checking in online and opting for mobile pick-up). If the office/store weren't still open, this could have been a total disaster that would have left me stranded. Shout out to the wonderful staff member that took initiative to get me all squared away. She turned a frustrating experience into a positive one.

I was extremely dissatisfied with how this outage was handled by UHaul storage.

I had asked for a ground floor unit and did not get it. Also the parking situation is dangerous there - only one way in and out and if loading area is full you have to figure out what to do with a 36” uhaul. I was extremely frustrated. Luckily when I came back in a Nice middle aged man ended up helping me and went through my contract. He was extremely helpful. The ladies there were not. Also this is in a very sketchy area. Though the units are under lock and key I don’t feel comfortable going to my unit so I’m turn will prob relocate to a different site in three months

Adam Grebatchi | First Impressions1. The requirement to use the U-haul sold crescent lock is a scam and money grab by Haul and its dealers. I have had storage units for a decade using my own combo lock and never had a security problem. The idea that the required lock provides better security is a lie. 2. The movable ladder necessary to access my second level space constantly wobbled making it unsafe to access my unit. There was not another ladder available use. this is unsafe and reported to the facility. 3. The storage unit door did not close properly and align so the lock could be easily installed. This was reported as well. It took two of us on a the above rickety ladder to push the door enough so it would align and lock the unit door. Such a basic. Get it right. 4. We were only shown (1) elevator. Lots of waiting. this is a converted 3-story warehouse and if another elevator exists we were not shown it. More focus on making money and less on customer service by investing in necessary vertical transportation. Really not sure I'm not going to move back to the Cube Smart a few blocks away. I made the move to U-Haul because I already rent trucks from here and thought it would be more convenient. Was not the experience I had at all.
