The system you have for self pick up is not good. Expecting contacts to be sitting by their phones for verification is ridiculous. A picture of your license and your face should be more than enough. Perhaps even a picture of a second form of ID. What happens if someone's contact is suddenly not available. How would you pick up the rental.john M.

Lower the extra fees . The 19.95 for the day cost me $54.00 . I had the van for 3 hrs and drove 38 miles. I had collision insurance through Geico that is good for any vehicle that I drive. Your company will not recognize that. Your advertisement is in reality false advertising. Next time I'll use Penske or Ryder.Brian G.

The entire process what awful, except for the staff at the Myrtle Beach location. Booking it online caused for me to be booked for moving help x3 but no actual container and when it was resolved over the phone it actually wasn't. Of it wasn't for my movers and the staff at the uhaul location I wouldn't have been able to complete my move when I needed to. The entire process is a mess and needs to be fixed.Margaret M.
Answer the phone. Called for three hours no answer. 3 other people tried for me no one answered. We all tried to contact online, site kept saying, LOADING. This was just the beginning. Truck back door would not close. Both uhaul stores were rude to me. Yesterday the general manager called me. When I called back the call was disconnected. This also happened when trying to contact the store. Inside the cab was food from the previous customer. Windshield wipers were leaving a wet spot in the window blocking my vision. The online reservation process was poor. My pick up location was changed 3 times even after talking with customer service and being assured of my primary pick up location. Trying to speak with a customer service rep was very frustrating and time consuming. Secondly, some customer service reps passed the buck. Could not get to anyone who could help. The last customer service rep I spoke with who was located in Charlotte, NC was very rude.Jesse H.
When dropping off truck, had to wait for female worker to help couple who wanted to rent a truck for a future move over a month out. She took her time with them and I had to wait a very long time, after moving all afternoon. She could've taken us who were waiting for drop off and others, and then helped with a future reservation. Our local Manager Martin Erlt saved the day. We wanted to do the 24/7 share ride but it did not work. First it send us to the wrong location, once we found the correct location we found out that they did not have us down for that. And our truck was not ready till 12pm. We where on hold with customer service when we saw an employee. Martin was at work early and helped us out. He got our truck ready ASAP and gave us a great deal. Without him being there early and being awesome our day would have been shot. Customer service was utterly useless.Ute A.
In customer service the stress of an employee should never be felt on the customer. I understand I came in on a very stressful day but the manager of the location got very short and did not offer a lot of solutions at first. At times the way he spoke to me was extremely condescending. He did give us a discount for the inconveniences of the day but I ended up two hours behind schedule because of network issues. Customer service was great while at the location but the reason I didn't give an excellent rating is because there's no way to contact the service person at the actual location. I called back to ask the desk clerk if she could go outside and check to see if I forgot to lock my car. I got this automated answering system that offered little help to begin with. There was no option to speak to a human being about an existing rental. Other than that everything including the price was great. If I had any issues, however, it would have been an extremely unpleasant experience with no one to talk to for help.James W.

Dealing with the folks that work for your company was very nice. However I will not use Uhaul again. I shipped my ubox to South Carolina from Massachusetts to move and help my daughter with business. We decided to move back to Massachusetts after two months. My container remained in storage in SC When I called to have my Ubox shipped back to Massachusetts the price came close to DOUBLE!! I had no say at that point. I called to try to find a more affordable solution and there was none. At that point I was at your mercy. If I had known that was going to be the case in a situation as this I never would've gone with this company. It was as if they they had me over a barrel and took complete advantage. I am very unhappy and I will not be recommending your company to anyone. Complete rip off!! I feel very abused. Never again!!!Tina B.

The equipment was not available when I arrived at the location (although I had booked it 30 days in advance). The employee behind the desk had an attitude and kept trying discourage me from waiting. He kept asking â€œwhy don't you take a box truck?â€ I needed the van that I had rented, so I could park it in a parking garage. Finally, the van arrived. I proceeded to checkout, and the employee asked whether I want the $10/day insurance or the $20/day insurance. I informed him that I wanted to decline, to which he responded he cannot do. I told him he was lying, because I rent U-hauls every week, and the insurance has never been mandatory. He really took offense to me calling him a â€œliar,â€ so he called his manager over. His manager came over and yelled at me for about 10 minutes, telling me that I should never call his employees names like that. I find it ridiculous that he would get so upset over that. I understand that I shouldn't have done that, but he also shouldn't be yelling at a customer for simply calling one of his employees a liar. He also threatened to have me placed on a list to where I can never rent a U-haul again. All of this for simply calling an employee a â€œliar.â€ Anyway, they explained to me that I could decline the insurance, but it would be an enormous liability for myself. When it got to the insurance part of the checkout process, I reluctantly told them I would accept the insurance (since I had been scared into doing so). After all that, he told me it was too late to add it and refused to do so! I requested the manager, and the manager added the insurance on. He proceeded to fuss at me more and explained that he was â€œtired of problem customers.â€ On top of that, the van was completely empty of gas when I got in and had a pill on the floor. The manager also told me that he would give me a discount for the trouble that I went through. Of course, I never received that. I told the manager that I would file a complaint with corporate. He told me to go ahead, but it won't do any good, because he is the regional manager. So I hope that someone in corporate sees and reads this besides him! Unfortunately, this is the only U-haul place that generally has the equipment I would like to rent, so I will be forced to go here again.Jerry M.

The desk worker handed me my keys and said â€œI'm not sure which truck is yours. Match the number on the key tag to the number on the truckâ€. There were rows of trucks. He also could not answer my questions about a tow dolly and told me I needed to contact a different department of UHaul. When I asked for the number he couldn't provide it. Very unprofessional place. I'd rather drive to the Little River location than to come back here.Crystal D.

I was not happy about the online. They were very hard to get ahold of. We spent 2 1/2 hour in the parking lot because they kept transferring me. It was not easy to do. They didn't put the slot on our reservation where we could check in. I had to call. This needs to be made a lot easier. We were at an area we didn't know and standing outside for 21/2 hours was very scary. I'm glad it was not late at night when we did it. The district manager said he would be getting in touch with us about this and no one has ever called.Linda C.

complaint is the trailer I rented to haul my car had very bald tires on the drivers side on the trailer. Nobody should be given this kind of rental vehicles with very bald tires and expect the customer to drive 700+ miles. The response I got when I notified the Uhaul employee was “ oh it’ll probably be okay “. This to me was a serious infraction and I am going to further investigate this issue. These kind of things change many lives and even kills people. I’m an older gentleman and I have experienced what a bald tire can do. Can be very serious situations arise from being ignorant and ignoring an obvious problem. The good news is ; we made it to our destination and grateful that nothing happened. Could have been a whole other outcome. I suggest employee training on tire maintenance and tread tolerations. In rhis case there was no tolerence measureable.
