I reserved a 26' truck 2 weeks prior to my move but on the day of pick up when I arrived at the location there was no 26' truck available. They were able to provide a 15' truck but made our move much more difficult having to make several trips instead of one and were unable to completely get everything before we had to return the truck. At the time of truck rental we were needing to rent a storage unit. I had reserved a unit online but at the day of the truck pickup we were unable to rent the unit, your website was completely down. I held off until later that morning hoping I could the complete the online unit rental process instead and finally gave up at noon. The pick up location did not have anything other than the truck, none of the equipment so we had to stop off at ANOTHER uhal location to get dollies. Unfortunately, U-haul was the main point of stress in this move from Oregon to Texas. The plan was 4 U-Boxes and one trailer. Trailers were very hard to come by in Portland. Not anybody's fault really and I finally found one online that was actually there thanks to a U-haul phone rep. Picked it up with no issues. U-Boxes were delivered and picked up as promised in Portland. This is the last time anything U-Haul went smooth. I get an e-mail a week or so later that my payment has failed. I called the 800 number again to get this sorted. Of course it failed. My billing address changed. The rep ran payment again and it went through. She also updated my address and delivery date of the U-Boxes when they arrive in Texas. I had a guaranteed delivery date in Texas on 4/13. The 13th came and I tried calling the U-Haul store to see if the boxes had arrived. I got transferred to the 800 number that told me it should be there today and isn't considered late until 5pm. I decided to go to the location to find out more. The two U-Haul employees I talked to said there hadn't been any U-Box deliveries that day or for a while for that matter. I called the U-Box number before leaving the lot and was told I would get an e-mail when they arrived and wouldn't be considered late until 7pm. After some digging, I managed to get the freight company's number that shipped my boxes. With my contract number the rep for the freight company was able to tell me that they arrived at the location I was just at the previous day. I've never been so happy, mad, and frustrated at the same time. I called the U-Box number again and told them that the freight company confirmed the boxes were delivered and after being on hold for a while I was told that they didn't check them in because they had a problem doing so. Happy, mad, and frustrated has moved to just mad. If I hadn't done so much leg-work and investigated so deep, how long would those boxes just sat there because 'we couldn't check them in'? Whatever... I found them. They are here. I just want them delivered. I asked if we're still on for my delivery date and the rep said they didn't have them scheduled for delivery because they didn't have my address. BS. I called a week prior and gave the 800 number rep my new address. She also sent a message to the U-Haul store for a delivery and pick-up date for the boxes. I guess they didn't get the message. Can we just get them delivered please? It was a little further out than I had initially scheduled, but whatever. On the day of delivery my delivery window came and went without a call from anyone. I called the 800 number again, which, by the way, is always at least 30 - 45 minutes before you can talk to anyone each time. I was told that the truck was having mechanical issues and the delivery would be a little later. You can't blame anybody for breakdowns and whatnot, but this doesn't exactly not add to my U-Haul stress. At the end of it all, every rep, driver, and store employee was very friendly, customer service oriented, and overall nice to speak with. High marks to them all. This does not make up for the absolute cluster that was this experience. between failed reservation guarantees for the trailer, having to reschedule moving help, taking trips to U-Haul to investigate, DIYing a U-Box hasp to make it operational, me having to do U-Haul's job, lack of communication between U-Haul staff, and upwards of 6 hours of obnoxiously loud and annoying hold music the only thing good I can say about my U-Haul experience is that it's over.Myke M.

The 24/7 truck share app experience was rough. 1st problem is the initial directions on where to go and how to start the process was a little confusing. Next, the app itself had some issues. I had to take and retake photos multiple times because the app would just restart to the beginning of both the check in process and return process. The app didn't explain why it didn't like the photos I took, it would just reset to the beginning of the process. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app a few times with no change. I have a current Android phone (Galaxy S21+) so my phone did not appear to be the issue. Please improve the app! The truck share concept for rental seems like a great concept for tech savvy individuals like myself and better attention to app performance would go a long way in making this a better experience.Demetrius T.

Great Staff & Equipment, but Big Data Security Risk What I liked: Staff was very professional, friendly and helpful. Truck was clean and did the job well. What I did not like: At the time of the renting, U-Haul store takes pictures of my Driver's License via cell phone - which appears to be staff's personal phone (perhaps to upload license photo to U-Haul system). Truck we rented was TERRIBLE. Not possible to drive at night because the headlights literally could only show 5 feet max of the road in front of you. Throw in a dirty windshield that had wipers that made it worse is the reason we only drove it 19 miles. Way too dangerous and the truck had 146k miles. The Check in from my phone didn't work. They didn't answer the phone after sitting on hold for 17 minutes (more than one time). When I went inside, one lady chubby, white, late 30s was texting or scrolling on her phone. She didn't greet me. The Panamanian guy was very helpful. I was told the tank was at 1/4, but it was 1/16th. The windshield was cracked all the way across, but wasn't noted. That took another call on hold for 17 minutes nobody picked up. Had to use chat. Turned in the truck after hours like I always do. I locked it and used the key drop. Then was charged an after hours fee of $20. My husband went to see them and she was rude. I'll be posting a Google review and using Penske or Budget next time.Phyllis G.

We moved my son's apartment into a unit over four years ago. When we recently came to get his stuff, we found a U-Haul lock in a slot next to the lock we put on. When we asked the staff, they said that they did not have the key and that the U-Haul lock was required. He said he had been working there two years and they always require that lock. When I told him that we were not required to get that type of lock when we moved in, he said it was required back then also. Obviously he was lying as he was not there four years ago and I was. I called Diane, the manager to see if they had a remedy but alas more terrible service as she never called me back. Probably too embarrassed by there blatant incompetence. I've used uhaul many times and this experience has by far been the worst. Pick up location was amazing . The staff was helpful, polite, courteous and friendly. They were above amazing with customer service. The drop of location was the worst experience I have ever had with a business ever. The location itself was clean and tidy. Jarom/ jason not sure exactly his name. ( Light blonde/Reddish fuzzy hair in a bun on his head, wore orange bandana) and the the other man who Claimed to be the assist manager by far worst customer service from those two. You never tell or talk down to your customers. The assistant manager wouldn't reprimand his employee from be obstinate after I asked him several times to stop speaking to me. I even called Diane Talley.....useless ....she just wanted me to use online. I had to continue to tell her employees to stop telling at me so I could even speak to her. The way to this store is run is absolutely ridiculous. I will be calling and filing s formal complaint. They had one employee that went above and beyond to try and fix the situation. Angel May.
