We were supposed to get a military discount - the counter person said it would be applied after they checked the truck but it never happened. We had the truck for a less than two hours to move a sofa.Guy H.
Short staffed so you will be waiting awhile, they do not communicate so one person says one thing and you will be charged another. If you call you will sit on hold for atleast a half hour to speak to someone who will tell you what you want to hear then it's like that conversation never happened. Which leads to you being overcharged. Just over all poor service. The gentleman in the store was very polite and friendly but unfortunately he was the only person working.Duane W.

After a grueling 3 days on the road - your 2 moving helpers, Cordell/Carvel? and DJ, were on location on time, went straight to work, up-and own a flight of stairs with 3, yes three, platforms/turn-arounds - quietly, professionally, and quickly. The net was not a scratch, no damage, all delivered, and the bed and dresser mirror set up iith 15 min to spare. Very well done, appreciated - made our job of moving in very easy - for an 82-year-old and his 67-yr-old friend. Viva-La U Haul and your move-in services [out of Roch - Ty??.] The turn-in location at 3:45 on Tues, Aug 3rd. was on schedule, done,...the move was over. Started badly with no one at counter, found a young, 1st-day employee, lounging out back - useless and not interested. Then Roy saved my day, cleared up who I was, what my contract was, confirmed that this was right place [would not be charged a threatened wrong-place return fee] and we were on our way. This was the end - so it was a joy - but your Nia. Falls location was a far cry from the other people and places that we had joyously dealt with over the last 2 weeks - except for Roy, thanks to him. If a reservation cannot be filled because of lack of available truck, customers should be notified. I was on the phone for an hour and 30 minutes after my reserved pick up time waiting to be informed what was going on. Moving is already stressful enough, please don't add to it.John P.

I attempted to rent a one way 15' on Sunday the 17th having to be back on the other coast by Friday the 22nd. The truck was not what I hoped and I did not feel comfortable driving it across the country. I'll also add that there was trash left inside the cab and the brakes sucked, even with an empty truck. I wanted to return it and exchange for a newer 10' truck like the one I had used a few weeks prior for a local move. I was told that one would be coming in the following day (Monday) and I could swap out, or there was one at another location about 20 miles away on Transit Road and they might be able to help the same day (Sunday). I tried contacting the other location, even had corporate call them and ask to contact me and never once spoke to a person there. So, I brought back the 15' truck to Military Road on Sunday evening. The employee was very helpful and said that her manager would be there first thing in the morning. When I came back at 7am Monday morning my card was declined as they had decided the previous day to refunded the 15' truck in full and the funds hadn't shown back up in my account yet. I tried to log into my bank account while at the counter and was told that the cellular reception was basically nonexistent in the building. The manager tried running the card again to no avail, didn't know what else he could do, apologized and told me to come back. So, I left empty handed and thus began literal hours of phone calls between me, uhaul and my bank. While on hold I even attempted the â€œchatâ€ feature on the website that promised â€œimmediate assistanceâ€ but after ten minutes waiting for a response I gave up and stayed on hold. I spoke with maybe half a dozen unhaul employees in total, each with widely varying knowledge and helpfulness ranging from â€œface palmâ€ level ignorance to one person who actually made me think â€œthank god, this might work out.â€ It did not. Eventually I was told that funds would magically appear after 10pm eastern that night (Monday) and I'd be good to go the next morning. Tuesday morning comes â€” no funds. More phone calls ensue. My backup plan was to leave everything behind and get on a one way flight back home. Luckily (?) I had saved the direct number for uhaul's credit card team and got right through. The guy was like â€œwhy didn't they just apply the funds from the first truck to the second truck?â€ He made it sound very easy. He said to just â€œgo back to the location and tell them-â€œ and I cut him off right there, saying I wasn't going to waste another trip and that, based on recent experience, I had little faith that it was going to work out as easily as he thought it would. So, he called the location himself, explained the process to the manager and called me back. I was shocked and thanked him profusely. He said â€œwell, we have to get you on the road, right?â€ He was right, I was out of time. The manager on Military called me, took my card details and apologized again. I went back to the location and, indeed, it was a newer 10' truck with all the appropriate features and I instantly felt more confident to do the 2600+ mile drive. However, when I opened up the back of the truck I was hit with an overpowering chemical smell. I don't know if the truck was used to transport a meth lab or something, but it was pungent. Under any other circumstances I would have said â€œno wayâ€ and asked for a different truck. But, I had no choice, so I left the back open and drove to my parents' pace to finally start loading up and hoped it would air out along the way. That's when I noticed the alignment pulled drastically to the right, even with an empty truck. Again, something I would have said â€œno wayâ€ to and changed trucks. Instead, I just loaded more weight on the left side, hoping it would even out. It didn't. I drove through 11 states with the steering wheel cocked to the left so I wouldn't veer off the road or into another lane. When I got to the location on the other coast, everything I unloaded (especially the bed) reeked of chemicals. It's been three days and the bed still had a very strong, offensive odor that it absorbed from that truck. I have to do the whole thing again in 8 weeks and will be looking at Budget or Penske instead.Brian P.

I had a storage unit and I kept receiving notices that my bill increased. I don't feel like I should have paid so much because their were mice feces on the floor and on my stuff and what ever the mice could burrow through. I would have kept the storage unit longer if it were not for these things. Overall the staff were friendly and I like the convenience of the storage unit and being able to access at all times, renting a van over the phone with fast service, being able to park my car at the facility while I unload my stuff so I don't have to take an uber back and forth, equipment provided to help with loading/unloading, moving supplies to buy in the store and being able to drop key off after hours. Price gouging at its finest. I asked the girl why prices keep going up and she said gas prices, I explained the customer pays for the gas we use so that doesn't even make sense. I get a call after I dropped the truck off saying they can't find the key, I explained I left the key in the ignition she said they can't find it, I go back there and the key was sitting in the ignition and she gives me an attitude cause I said did you even get off your ass and look after you called me.Ron L.

When I call to rent a vehicle and/or trailer, I should be able to speak with a person on site with no hassle. The customer service representative was rude and would not let me know if the vehicle was available at this location unless I provided a credit card first. I hung up the phone and drove the 30 minutes hoping for the best, I preferred a pick up truck, but was given a 10' van and trailer. It got the job done but the mileage was more money. The deck on the motorcycle trailer we rented was too low to the ground. We could not get the bike on it. We picked it up in the afternoon. They were closed by the time we needed to return it. We had it back by 8 am the next day. We were still charged a full day's rental. I called about a refund & as with everything else that U haul has screwed us with, I got no reply. You rented us a motorcycle trailer that does not haul motorcycles & refused to return our money. Just like the last 3 times we dealt with U haul We were ripped off. We did not get what we paid for. I am now going to corporate. We were ripped off on our hitch at another location and the trailer at this location.Linda C.

Thought we left something on the truck spent half hour on the phone waiting to speak to corporate, who then was unable to get this location to answer the phone after twenty minutes of calling them. They recommended I go in person to see if someone at this location found anything, I travelled a half hour to the location to check and no one was around the location office. I waited twenty minutes with several customers behind me in line for a trainee to thank us for being patient but tell us he wasn't allowed to help us. Finally, five minutes later he brought a worker to help and there was no more help than the phone call.Braedan G.
Customers have to wait 20 to 25 minutes to pick up a vehicle that they've had reservations forâ€¦ Also vehicles are not really clean windows are dirtyâ€¦ Gas gages are not full and they expect customers to Fill them and they said they give you a gas credit not our fault if your customers prior used are not filling the vehicles upâ€¦ I had an incident where picked up the vehicle it was an empty the clerk said they put five bucks in there so they can get it where it needs to go back to the shop well I had to put $20 in there and only went 10 milesâ€¦ I think I should be refunded for my whole U-Haul rentalâ€¦LARRY K.

Rodent infestation and mildew causing damage to some items. Paid for climate control and should not have mildew. Insurance company difficult to work with. Agent is not responding to my emails because I did not accept the initial offer and refused to sign off before the unit was completely empty. Once unit was empty more damage was found. Once I filed a claim, staff at local U-Haul facility refused to speak with me. Most staff members at local facility we're not knowledgeable of the procedure to file claim. One person, I believe his name was William Wilson, who has left the position, was as helpful as he could be and seem to be knowledgeable. I didn't store food yet after a year in storage there was a tremendous amount of mouse droppings everywhere including my boxes!! The mice also tore up the newpaper i used to wrap my objects up with. I reserved and paid for an Outdoor, Pull up storage unit months before my move-in day. When I arrived on my move-in day, I was informed that there were no outdoor units available. I even showed the printed paperwork. They said there would only be one inside of the building, but it was on the first floor. This was a struggle for the people who helped me move in, as we all thought (as we should), that I was going to drive up to my outdoor unit that I reserved. I didn’t give them a hard time, they said they were sorry, etc. Anyways, it all worked out. (Mind you, I still thought that the replacement unit they gave me would still be climate controlled, as this is what I reserved to have.) When I arrived 3 months later to move out, I was astounded to see my entire mattress as well as my box spring were completely molded. All different colors. After checking the website and storage map, I found that the room I was given, 1271, was indeed NOT climate controlled. I also was billed $148 monthly, whereas I thought it was going to be $114 a month.
