I was given excellent customer service. Parking was easy at the location (I had to leave my car on site for a few hours). I checked in on my app and my order was easily accessible for the cashier. She assisted me efficiently and politely. When I checked the rear of my 15' truck, I noticed my appliance dolly hadn't been loaded and they quickly corrected the error. When I returned my vehicle, the young man at the drop off quoted me a higher base price for the truck, so I went inside to check on the pricing. The problem was quickly addressed and corrected. Renting a truck can be nerve-racking, but the convenience of the app and the excellent customer service made my time efficient and smooth!

There was some confusing regarding the contract being paired with the wrong equipment number causing me an extra 3 hours of phone calls to avoid an excessive charge on my vehicle for fuel that i did not use. Besides this debacle everything went well.

U-Box was a messy experience overall. The individual people I worked with in Chicago and Oakland and Corporate were really nice - super great attitudes, but they're working within a broken system. So many things went wrong wrong and took 15+ phone calls to sort out, plus over a month to get my things. Also - I needed a total of 5 refunds by the end of this for overcharges, so keep a close watch on your credit card statement. 1) I got charged for 3 U-Boxes, only used 2 and communicated that clearly to the people picking up. (Alarmingly I got a text from the truck driver a couple of days later asking if I had "happened to write down the numbers on the boxes," which I hadn't but was assured "would be fine") 2) Despite receiving an email telling me that someone would reach out to schedule my delivery once it arrived in Oakland, never received one 3) I finally reached out to the Oakland location; turns out they never called to schedule delivery because I didn't exist in the system (after a few calls to corporate, they were located at Oakland) 4) Turns out I got charged for 3 boxes because all 3 boxes had been shipped cross country, including empty box with no lock on it 5) Oakland wouldn't deliver my boxes until I paid for the shipping, but I couldn't pay for the shipping until the original location figured out why I got overcharged for a third box, as corporate was concerned I wouldn't be able to get a refund if I overpaid 6) While waiting for them to sort out the refund, I got charged another $230 in "rent" for the boxes which were being held hostage, which was kindly refunded after another few calls 7) After all of it was finally sorted out and paid for fully through multiple calls to Hayward, Oakland, Corporate, and Chicago, I randomly got a $15 charge a day later and no receipt. Back to the phones I go

Rodents did some serious damage to the contents of my container. Also, although my payments were set to Auto-Withdrawal from my debit card I was nearly always charged a late fee for both containers. How does that happen?

Took an hour to get my ubox loaded onto a trailer and onto a truck even with 2 days lead up time to get it together. They didn’t pull the bolt out of the ubox so I sat waiting for someone to bring me a wrench so i could do it myself. 2 hours of my move time wasted. They were nice about it but did nothing to resolve it.

It took me about a hour and a half to get my trailer. I showed up 5 minutes before my reservation started. They sent me to the back of the yard to pick up a trailer and have no one back there for 45 mins to show me what trailer to take. Also they should train the employees that it matters what size trailer ball is on the hitch. I asked he said what ever is on there is fine. My hitch had a 1 7/8 ball. That is definitely not the right size for a car trailer. When we were inspecting the trailer kept running off. The thing was pretty beat up and he told me just take pictures of what ever you see then if they charge you for it just show them the pictures.

Wait time too long with only 1 clerk and multiple customers. I had to unhook the MC trailer I rented while the employee watched and looked at his phone

I was notified less than 48 hours til my move that my truck was unavailable and was told to go to a different city to pick up the truck I needed. At this new location, my truck wasn't ready til over an hour after my scheduled pick up time. When I finally received the truck, it was filthy, had trash inside, and had an empty tank. The dash read, "4 miles" til empty. Terrible overall experience.

Too expensive. Maybe charge per hour. Instead of charging someone a whole day for being a little bit late. Also what's up with the gas why not keep it full and ask to receive it full, instead of saying "if you dont give it back to us at 1/4 of a tank we will charge you an extra million dollars per gallon. And if you overfill it, that's not our problem" like wtf. I wont be using your services again thank you. Customer service sucks too.

I Booked 2 weeks in advance and was supposed to pick up in SF but there were no truck available so customer support sent me to Oakland 25 miles away. When I got there they had no truck for me in the size I needed but they managed to scramble the last of a smaller size so at least I could move some of my stuff. Unacceptable customer support at U-haul!

Customer service was god awful. Older Asian guy with a goatee took my request. I said I wanted insurance on the van. When the printout was given to me I saw there was no coverage. They couldnt add insurance and they brought back in the same guy who seemed upset that he had to do his job. He had to dance my contract and start over. He told me, almost laughing in my face, that I should have said I wanted coverage when he first asked me. I said I DID say that I wanted it, I get insurance every time I rent there. He processed it again and again the printout said no coverage. I pointed this out to him and again he got flustered that he had to run it once more. I said there must be a computer glitch, to which he didn’t respond. At this point it was obvious the guy was getting angry at me and giving me attitude for what was essentially nobody’s fault, but just a computer glitch. He finally got the printout to say I had coverage, handed it to me and offered no apology. They even told me: “are you sure you want coverage ? You’re not even driving that far “. Most the people here are cool but this guy was ridiculous

Biggest problem: the alarm system, going off constantly due to a design flaw — so no one pays attention to it. Thieves cut through wire mesh above lockers. Our truck lock got picked in lot overnight.

I was allowed to make reservations for a dive up to unit when infact there are no drive up units at this facility!!!!
