Don’t change my pick up and drop of location less than 24 hours before my moving day. I had to drive 40 minutes out of my way to pick up the truck instead of it being a mile from my house. Then after my pick up I was notified my drop of location wasn’t able to take a truck as large as mine. Then why was I able to select the original location? You caused me a lot of unneeded stress on my moving day. I think you should cover the money for the extra gas I had to use driving to further locations than I scheduled. I will not be using your service again in the future.

Derrick WattersI regret to share a highly unsatisfactory experience with U-Haul and Storage in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. My items were stored there for just a month, and the conditions were appalling. Despite a warning from another renter about a mouse infestation, my time constraints during the move forced me to ignore the cautionary advice. Upon retrieving my belongings, I discovered significant damage due to water exposure during a regular rainstorm. Disturbingly, the storage facility reeked of dead mice, confirming the prior renter’s warning. Even though the facility claimed to be climate-controlled, the basic rain affected my items, raising questions about the facility’s ability to uphold its climate control promises. When I contacted the facility about the damages, they displayed a lack of accountability and empathy. Their response, citing my lack of insurance as a reason for inaction, was disheartening. A facility entrusted with safeguarding items should ensure protection against elements, especially during routine weather events. Within a mere four weeks of storage, multiple items suffered damage from both water and mice. The facility’s inability to fulfill its duty in preserving items, even without insurance, is disappointing. While I can understand potential issues during extreme weather conditions, the inability to shield my belongings from a standard rainstorm is inexcusable. During my check-out, the personnel at the desk further demonstrated a lack of concern. Their audacity to inquire about sweeping out the unit, when my items had already been subject to water and rodent damage, highlighted their disregard for maintaining a suitable storage environment. The dismissive response to my concerns was the final straw, and I am relieved to have relocated my belongings from what I can only describe as a decrepit and neglectful storage unit. I strongly advise against using this facility for anyone seeking reliable and secure storage solutions.

From the receptionist at the counter to the vehicle inspection staff after the service, they all gave me great help. Thank you so much. If I have to get some customers' ideas, then I think some reversing auxiliary cameras can be installed on each truck to provide the driver with a wider viewing angle, especially the 26-inch large truck like the one I drove today. I think it's driver safety that is most important.

However, upon further inspection you can only imagine my shock and complete disappointment when I realized my belongings had been infested with mice urine and feces! I had to go through everything, with gloves and a mask for fear of getting sick from the mice urine and feces! I was left with no choice but to take everything out and load it in my vehicle. Before taking anything into my home, I had to sort through and throw away many of my rear collections of books that were chewed up and urinated in; urine, poop, and nested in; towels, blankets, sheets, and clothing all destroyed, along with various small furniture items. I specifically rented a unit on an upper level, paid for insurance, and followed the rules of your Facility. When I checked out I told the front desk associate about this issue and was told "Yeah, we know someone had been storing food in their unit"! Honestly! I feel that the responsible actions that your facility should have taken should have been immediate extermination of all units possibly affected; each unit holder should have been made aware of the problem, and we should have had the opportunity to examine our belongings for any damages caused by the infestation. I was so disappointed to find out that you were aware of this infestation and not notifying renters was poor judgment on your part. I was certainly notified several time about your monthly price increase. This situation was intentionally mishandled and in good faith I wouldn't recommend anyone store anything that isn't intended to be trashed in the long run. Sincerely, Carla B

If we put more gas by mistake, it does not make any sense that the customer can't have a credit note or cash back when your staffs verify the tank is overful. Returns with not gas=Charges Retirns with too much gas should = Reimbursment Is that making sense?

Paul Hartell | First ImpressionsI was placed in a unit at the back of the storage facility located on the second floor- on the 4th day of my move in, the elevator became inoperatble, making it unavailable for use- it remained this way until my move out 30 days later. I'd previously advised management that a hand truck would be beneficial to remain on the second floor, to avoid having to hand-carry items to and down the stairs. Almost every visit, I had to park my car, go to the second floor to find no hand truck available, go to the office and wait for them to bring the hand-truck to the second floor. The fact that the facility did not properly maintain the elevator, made it especially aggravating to have to ask for a common courtesy of the hand truck availability almost every visit. I would avoid this location like the plague in the future and would suggest others avoid it as well. The one thing the made sure worked was the debit of my bank account at midnight of the day I'd previously advised the staff of my move-out. They've since refunded my money but no person, especially with the stress of moving should have to ask for reasonable accommodations particularly when it's not the fault of the customer the facility is poorly/improperly maintained.

To try to open the unit early we went to the facility and arrived 30 minutes before close to open the unit. We were told over the phone we would be able to do this and drove 45 minutes to the facility to be told that we can't open a new unit 1 hour before close. Then when we did come back to open the unit, we were forcefully sold a lock when the new unit had a lock provided to us included and the lock we already had come with was a Uhaul lock as well.

However on 3 times I would make plans and would need to access my storage unit during the times it’s supposed to be accessible and I could not get into the building due to technical difficulties and could also not get ahold of the manager (number to call on door for problems-) no answer ever! Probably not an issue for everyone but that’s a big issue for me! I could not access my unit as agreed upon with this unit however would get charged a late fee if I was less than a day late with payment. Not cool!

However, When I went to the office, they told me that was the old price and the same unit I reserved would be $99.95. 2. reserved a vehicle indoor storage on 2/24/2021 for $64.95 with reservation#796049-00117857. I double check with the staff in the office on 2/27/2021 and he confirmed the storage will fit my car. I made the payment $64.95 and storage my vehicle on 2/28/2021 following the staff's assistance. However, I received another $47.85 charge and the rate for the storage changed to $119 on the second day. The manager told me that I am free to move my car someone else, however that would not be an option for me because I am out of the state. This is not a good business.

The elevator literally stopped working and when we called for help no one came. We rang the help button and waited for close to 15 minutes. When no one came we went to the office and finally a lady staff told the guy of the situation but he was busy and came over after he finished what he was doing. We had to carry stuff up to the second floor a few times before the manager came and fixed the elevator about 20min after the guy left and told us there was nothing more he could do and there is no other elevator for the storage place. The staff was nice but there should be another elevator or a staff specifically answering the people at the storage units. Thank god no one was stuck inside of the elevator because we would have been out of luck. Besides the elevator situation it was not a bad move in.

End up renting a 10x10 in another building having to walk all of the stuff we already moved through the building over the bridge across another building to our unit. Again, no help or compensation offered from staff. I understand that things happen no one can control a broken elevator. But the blatant disregard disrespect and clear lack of customer service your staff displayed was disgusting and I hope you can improve on that.

After reading the reviews and having no other choices, I reluctantly gave my business to the Pawtucket U-Haul facility. Day one, when I arrived to pick up the rental truck, the young man assisting me at the desk although polite was not knowledgeable in the areas of my other reservation for storage, the promotion of " If you rent a truck you get the first month free for a storage unit", or the location of the unit itself. He had me walking around in the maze from one building to another. After debating for some time and another associate confirming the promotion we finely got everything squared away. When I returned with my belongings the elevator to my unit was not accessible because I was told they couldn't find the KEY. After about an hour they finally granted me another unit located on the first floor. This unit was smaller in height by two feet, a big difference for storage. Still no complaints. Day two, I needed another unit to store the rest of my belongings. After the transaction was complete the associate brought me to view the unit. We entered the building, but the elevator was broken so we had to take the stairs. Was told by Sandy from corporate and the associate that the elevator is down several times throughout the year and that it was getting shut down in August to be replaced. The associate who brought me to view the unit assured me that the elevator would be fixed shortly so I could move in to my unit located on the second floor. It took the elevator repairman to tell me after waiting 45 minutes for the KEY that the elevator would not be available until a part was ordered. It turned out to be down for two days. I was then told by Corey Perry the manager that they had a "BACKUP" elevator, but it was located in the other building. Now I had to reload the rental truck and drive to the other building. Sandy offered to help reload, but I declined she did not inform me of her affiliation to the company nor did Corey I found out later. Now I was transporting my belongings from one building to another thru dust and debris, making multiple trips even with the assistance of Chris an employee. Afterward I returned to the desk and asked for the manager, I was told he was with another customer. I replied that I would wait, he showed up seconds later. I wanted to know what were the expenses that I had accrued and would be expecting to see on my credit card statement. He offered no discounts or apologies for my inconvenience until I asked. Then told me that he needed to check with corporate and get back to me. All in all after reading the reviews I expected to be treated with unprofessionalism but never thought that the process of using this facility would be so laboring. I was paying two guys $90.00 per hour for standing around waiting for a KEY to an elevator on both occasions. Needless to say I will not be using this branch again nor would I suggest it to anyone. Sandy from Corporate, Corey Perry manager, Han assistant manager all failed to inform me of their affiliation to the company. I have always used the U-Haul facility in East Providence with NO problems and am very heartened that they were not able to accommodate me this time.
