Check in person was not friendly. She didn't seem very interested in her job. The van was very dirty. I also don't appreciate the excessive focus on getting customers to take out insurance on the vehicles. First of all most people that have private vehicles have insurance that covers a rental and second the price you charge for insurance is exorbitant. This location is the worst, I got there at 8:30AM and I left there at 10:00am is just one person doing the job for a many customer this is ridiculous how the manager set up the schedule; and this is not the first time i have been in this location multitimes and always like that and I called day before to make sure evryting will be ready for our company I spoke with Nik and that wasn't help at all.CESAR F.

The rental experience was perfect, but the return was awful. When I returned, the sign said stay in the vehicle and someone will be out to take care of you. I waited for 10 minutes, and after no one came, I went into the office and returned the key. The guy at the desk asked if I wanted an email receipt and I said yes and went. That night the email receipt showed up and I was charged double the rental fee and double the CDW. The receipt showed I returned the rental over 3 hours later than I actually did. I went back to the office the next day, and the woman told me not to worry, an inexperienced employee had processed the rental and the charge would be reversed. She gave me the manager's card. Two days later I noticed that my card had been charged the full amount on the original receipt, so I called the manager and he reversed the charge. What a hassle!Robert D.
Someone should always be present inside to help customers at the register. Too many people were waiting a long time because there was never someone present. Parking for your vehicle is very limited, and so you are told to find street parking on the street in the nearby neighborhood a few blocks away. There seems to be a lack of communication between online and in person bookings. The wait times are too long, they need to improve their customer service starting with hiring more employees.ERIKA A.

The storage units at the 2200 El Camino Real, Redwood City has a non-operational after hours alarm. Access should be available until 10pm. Right now access is only available during store hours, which is very inconvenient. Can U-Haul please fix the alarm ASAP. Thank YouMichael G.
The pickup process was smooth enough. However when returning the equipment bought some additional boxes and needed to pay with cash. I was told they had no change. When I asked for my money back amazingly change was found and the clerk tossed the change at me some some fell on the floor. How can a nationwide chain not have change and then magically produce it. Also this location is always out of inventory on the main items one needs for packing.David W.

The automated check in is confusing and I work in software. You should be able to check in before you get to the sure so it isn't stressful and then have a final step to pick up. Even if it does work that way it wasn't clear from the way things were written. So I got there and was in a hurry thinking I was going to pick up the truck and it wasn't ready and then I had to stand in line for a long time. And then they had to get to me to a different truck because the truck that I was set up with wasn't ready to go and was blocked in. I understand that this was user error. But I also know that if the UX was clear it wouldn't have been a problem. The people at the site were great. They helped me as quickly as they could checking the truck back in was a really smooth experience.Jennifer H.

The online check out process was terrible - the photo page for the drivers license didn't work and we had to go inside to pick up our reservation. Even after getting assistance from the representative at the location, every page she tried to send me to continued to have errors. Reserved a bottom floor unit, and the website showed me that there was one available. Got to the store to see the unit and had to wait a really long time for someone to even come to the counter, then was told that there were no more bottom floor units. I had just moved here so I didn’t really have time to look for another storage unit on the spot ( which was probably a huge mistake) and decided that this would have to do. I had auto-pay set up, and even got emailed receipts, and after having just paid rent, I got a notice that our rent had not been paid and was told our unit’s lock had been removed and a notice placed there as well. I had to go to the store and show the email to have that taken care of, only to find out they had lost my original lock, so I had to get another one. When we finally got a new unit somewhere else, I noticed that there were water marks on some of our things that weren’t there before, so something had to have leaked or sprayed onto our things. I’m glad we were able to have at least some kind of storage for the time being, and for what it’s worth, it was secure and nothing was stolen or damaged. The employees, when there is one available, are very friendly. Not super happy but it wasn’t the worst possible experience.Miki H. | Overall Experience

The instructions were great, and staff was friendly. The unit was clean enough, but we did have to pick up dinner trash and hammer down a few staples that were dangerously sticking out. The most important part was that our unit did not measure 8' by 6' which was absolutely surprising. It was 7.5' by 5.25' which made a huge difference for us. We packed up an 8x6 area at home to figure it out, and when we showed up, the unit was noticeably smaller than advertised! Hey there. Please give me a call when you get a moment. My rep Jailin was doing her best but she was ill, sneezing (yipes with Covid), and exhausted when she helped me this afternoon. I was promised an 8x8 unit and rolled in with a moving van and auto transporter, 1 way reservation. I had to get the car off myself, outside the lot because it was so hectic and understaffed inside the gates. And in the end... (cue the sad muzak), the storage unit I was promised was double booked. I drove for 2 days, had follow up calls confirming the unit was available just to find out I couldn't store my stuff at this location once I arrived. I'm going to use the remaining days of the use of the moving van but am very nervous about what comes after that. Please, if you would, call me so we can discuss my plan B for where to store my belongings if I run out of time. P.S. I know covid has wreaked havoc on communication and software systems and therefore not everyone has the best and latest information, but it had a severe negative effect on me during a major move in my life.
