With this rental center I had reserved and paid for delivery of the U-Boxes to my residence. When I contacted them for the drop I was informed that while my address was within their delivery zone they would not deliver due to the particular road being "too windy" for the driver. Yet in ours and nearby neighborhoods I have observed the roads traversed by tractor-trailer deliveries and moving vans. So why not U-Haul? I had to engage a mover for the service which cost me more money and time. I feel U-Haul should reimburse me for the added expense and shared that information and details recently by phone with a U-Haul customer service rep.Bob E.

When I picked up the trailer, the attendant had to sort through trailers to find an acceptable one with radial tires for a long trip. I thank him for that. However, that indicates that many where not up to a long trip. The chosen trailer had a mildew smell and dirt caked on the floor. Needed a pressure wash.KELLY C.

I had a difficult time getting anyone from U-Haul to tell me where to drop off the trailer. I was put on hold several times with wait times of more than 30-minutes which was unacceptable. I started calling around the area to U-Haul sites and the people that answered the phone had no space to take the trailer and directed me to the place I ultimately dropped the trailer (They never answered the phone and their phone went straight to the central U-Haul line). I took the trailer there and was not provided any assistance in getting it un-hooked or checked out. Just directed to leave it in the lot. Not what I have previously experienced with U-HaulROBERT C.

I was told $97 per hour but when I went to pay for the service, it was $156 because I had brought my own hitch. The guy behind the desk was not welcoming. The appointment was for 11am [I arrived at 10:58], yet the installer was scheduled to arrive at 11:30. The job was finally done at 2:30, 1/2 hour after the expected install time. The hitch installation looked fine, but tough to recommend given the above.THOMAS P.

We scheduled a 24/7 online pick up for 8 am and when we arrived and opened the App it said we had been changed to a 9:00 in person pick up- it would have been nice to know before we drove over there and had to wait an hour- and then the battery died on our way home after a very long day- service provider came quickly (30 minutes) but it was still 30 minutes we did not want to be stuck in a U-Haul after a very long day. our 12 hour day turned into a 14 hour day and our help at each end of the move was also inconvenienced and had to wait an hour. The installer arrived at the Uhaul site 15 minutes after my appointment time. He installed the trailer hitch very quicklyâ€¦about 25 minutes. When I got home I discovered that the installer had placed a section of the car's plastic belly pan cladding in the back of my car. The installation instructions on the Uhaul website call for trimming this plastic panel and reinstalling it. It's not a big deal, but I was disappointed. I probably would go back to this Uhaul store, but I'd be vigilant.Larry H.

I picked up the truck and it was covered in dust could barely see out front window. I drove straight to flooring business and loaded the back with wood flooring, as soon as weight was added the back tire looked flat. I then realized there was a large 2 gash in the sidewall and the tire was completely flat. I could have died going down Old Fort mtn with a load of wood and a flat tire rubbing the other tire. When I called Uhaul repair line they sent a repair man from 2 hours south in a different state. I had to wait 3.5 hours for the repair and i missed day of unloading. Then when I returned the truck I was charged $2 for over miles even though I drove straight home! very frustrating experienceBen A.
I don't even know how to write a review of Uhaul. I gave the location that my Uboxes arrived at 4 star because the other location I shipped my boxes from in Denver Colorado was so incredibly awful. I dont blame the staff, but the management for exploiting their employees and taking advantage of their customers. I literally feel sick every time I have to go to call or go to Uhaul. It is never easy, staff is overworked, and undertrained because the turn over rate is out of this world. It wasnt any different this time. Picking up my Uboxes in Denver Colorado was beyond awful. There were three people ahead of me in line and I waited over an hour both times I stopped by to pick up my boxes. There were at least 20 people behind me in line with 2 employees. They people behind me were probably there all day. The atmosphere was so incredibly negative. Staff and customers yelling at each other. Staff feeling overwhelmed by seeing such a huge line with no support. Eeek, I put my headphones on and just took deep breaths. Finally when it was my turn, the associate stated it was his first week and had no idea what to do with U boxes. Through patience and mindfulness I eventually was able to pick up and drop off my boxes. They somehow made it across country. I was seriously doubting that would happen and upped my homeowners insurance. When I finally made it across country, I called this location to get access to my ubox. I had to get some necessities for our baby out. The person on the phone told me she did not know how to set up access and went out of her way to tell me that her associate who comes in later, also does not know. Cool. I called Uhaul's main # for help. That person chuckled and laughed and told me I have to call the store I just called. Cool. I was eventually able to get access to my stuff but they told me it would take a couple days, no exceptions. The day finally came for me to get access to my box. I showed up at the warehouse. (Let me just stop real quick and say how awesome the warehouse employees are). I went to the warehouse and unfortunately the wrong box was pulled out. I was expecting to get told to come back in a few days as it apparently takes that long to get your box. The staff member was awesome though. Somehow, It didnt take a couple days. He took his forklift in and brang the correct box out within 2 minutes. Hmmm wonder why the store told me it takes a couple days to get your box?? Anyways long story short, I came back to the warehouse two weeks later to get my boxes to unload them. Again, I arrived with an uneasy feeling in my stomach as my prior experiences at Uhaul have usually been a long uncomfortable expeirence. A staff member named Darian helped me get my boxes. He was Awesome. I so appreciate him. If it wasnt for him I would absolutely hate Uhaul instead of just despise them. Please take care of your employees like Darian. I wanted to redeem my free month rent on a storage unit for renting a one way truck months ago. I went in and was given options. The gal seemed nice but a little aloof. She shared with me she was leaving the company and complained about her co-workers. She asked me for my phone number but told me it wasn’t in the system but then found it. She asked me for a photo of my ID and texted me the link but it was already in the system. She took me to my unit but it was filled with stuff. She again complained about her coworkers. She found me a vacant unit thru an app on her phone and when she went to open it, a loud alarm went off. I’m sure that she knew that would happen so a heads up would have been appropriate as it was loud and I was startled and a little annoyed at the amount of mis-steps I was experiencing. She did not tell me the hours of access which are also not listed online so I had to call to find out. Upon leaving, I stopped into the storage areas restroom to wash my hands and the soap dispenser was missing the part where you push to get soap out. That means people have to fumble around to make it work, contaminating the soap dispensers inner workings with their dirty hands. Come on Uhaul, you can do better. Not sure if this is standard, but an employee had hosed off his car in the front of the building. The gal helping me whined to the guy that she wanted her car washed bec/ it had been 4 years which made me wonder what the inside of her car must be like. I also learned that I can’t get another month free of storage after I rent another truck in the coming weeks. She tried to explain it to me but she started talking about a nearby Uhaul location but referred to it as Sweeten Creek which I thought was the location I was at which made me question if I was at the location I initially wanted to store things at. I was at Sweeten Creek so I’m not sure what she was talking about but I’m disappointed to hear that if I rent one way trucks two different times, I only get one month free of storage and that you offer to first month free to people who don’t rent trucks. Most places do but if I knew that with what I know now, I would have searched other storage company options. I usually don’t leave reviews but since I received both and email and text message from Uhaul, I thought I should. I could not access the building to move in at 7PM. I called the manager and got a voicemail. Then I texted the number but she responded that she was on leave. I then had to ask her for the backup contact, she did not initially supply the information. Thankfully Steve was immensely helpful and figured out that our access was for "store hours only." Once he fixed this we could enter the building but the sliding doors were locked. We had to move mattresses and a couch through the man door. 2 staff workers called the police on my wife for voicing her opinion about the service and conflicting employee understanding of a policy as we were told. The two employees were very disrespectful and started taping us with their phones and refused to finish offering service. At that time we were told we were trespassing pointed towards my wife. Though we have rented units, trucks and bought packing equipment from u-haul, we will never use u-haul for anything again. We waited for the police to arrive (while being told we were trespassing as we waited by the two staff members). We appreciate the Asheville Police Officers service and seeing the silliness of the incident. With increased crime in this area such an inappropriate use of the Officers service. Everything was excellent. The only part I don’t like is that U-haul does not prorate the bill. I no longer needed my unit, as I rented a larger unit elsewhere and combined my things. I had three weeks left before my next bill was due, and now someone else can rent it free for thirty days. U-haul’s 30-day rent-free policy is misleading in some cases like mine. I already paid full rent and 3/4 was remaining. I should be refunded ~ $96.75 and U-haul should let the new customer rent for 30 days free, as per the policy and not on my dime.karen m. | Overall Experience

The onsite staff were easy to work with and the facility is excellent. The online website is not user friendly. The responses were not consistent.
